Haven't tried it. Bought it on the hopes they would throw the FB/Meta account requirement as they said they were looking into it at their shareholders meeting but nothing came of it. I have a GO but rarely use it. I have a full PSVR system including g a PS5 but seldom use that either as its cumbersome. Too bad the new unit for that system will still be wired. I never developed a tolerance for VR, so its relegated to video watching but after watching videos on a 100" laser projector in 4K and with Atmos sound, this can't compete with that. As for the accessories, you really need a better headstrap as the one that comes with the Quest 2 is terrible. I'll probably give the Q2 away to a friend's son who is studying computer programming in college. Maybe he can get into it and develop something for it. It's really NOT for me...
The fact that it's self contained with its own battery is a huge huge plus. It made VR gaming portable, which eliminated the whole "VR gaming needs its dedicated room". You can pack everything up and choose a place you like to play it on. You can also connect it to a PC/Laptop and run PCVR games from there.
the only problem with that is quality you loose quality because its not a powerful as a pc how ever with air link you can play pc vr from any room if your wifi is strong edit: tracking is kinda bad in some situations

Battery is not really an issue. Just buy a cheap battery pack and mount it with velcro, that's what I did and it works perfect. Even adding some more weight balance towards the back for more comfort. If you connect via link to a computer u easily get 7 hours through some passive charging.
In conclusion: this device is amazing you could watch TV game and it’s a really good device. Yes you should absolutely get this device it’s an amazing piece of technology and the experience is terrific. You could literally take it anywhere you want it’s portable and it’s reliable. Get the oculus quest 2 you will be satisfied!
that is actually an amazing idea, i mean, if you have of plugged into your headset with a 1m cable or so and keep the power bank in your pocket, that could save you well over 70$
It would be enough to make the battery detachable/replaceable/swappable. So you would have one in the device when in use, while the other 2 additional batteries would be recharged in the charger. Then you could use the VR glasses for as long as you want, and if necessary, just replace the battery with a charged one.

I have owned the Rift S for about two years now and Right after i purchased it they pretty much stopped supporting it and focused on the quest. I finally decided to buy the Quest 2 since i can do wireless PCVR and i gotta say its a game changer.
I plan on holding off until the next Quest although when I see one in stores it sure is tempting to buy! My Rift S is still holding up strong but my GTX1070 could be replaced.
The battery lasts 2hrs but the real problem is that TIME FLYS while in there. I seriously thought my battery only lasted 30 minutes and then I realized 2 Hours had gone by. I spent $36 and got a BOVO VR HEADSTRAP ! Life changing
2 hrs when its new. but over time the battery will run out a lot faster. each time u recharge it the battery life will go down a bit. after about 10k charges u wil be lucky to get 5 mins gaming out of it. Its the same with all stand alone HMD battery life doesnt last long. same with smart phones. they keep saying must have app to drain the battery faster so u have to charge it up more so u wear the battery out faster and have to buy a new phone. hence why they now seal the cases so u cant just buy a new battery.
Yes you can. You have to stream it to your phone app but if you have a smart tv you can connect it via a app that allows you to show your phone screen on your tv
I've been thinking about picking one up and this is a great help in getting me off the fence on it. but as for the battery life and lack of case couldn't you just grab a everyday nylon bag? And if the batter pack is a USB port on it maybe get a normal power bank to get around the cost? Might be wrong with the batter pack but the bag issue doesn't really seem like toooooo big of a problem.
The lack of case is a personal issue because the box it comes in makes the perfect case. The plastic in the box is molded to fit the headset and controllers, and the cardboard is actually high quality. The cardboard is a higher quality cardboard than the plastic is on the "elite" head strap. And a battery pack works well, too. My friend has a battery pack he bought specifically to keep his Quest 2 charged while playing. When he puts that on and starts playing his VR fishing game, you won't see him for hours at a time. For all intents and purposes, the Quest 2 is like a super-powered smartphone. Literally. You can hook it to your PC and do anything you can do with a Android phone.
My little cousin has an Oculus 2 and I tried it out and I thought it was really good, I asked my mom for one and she thought it was a good idea and she said it was really cool, what a goat mother if you ask me

Yes they have an app called big screen and you can watch TV and movies in a virtual theater with people around the world and talk to them while you watch , you can even have digital snacks lol

That’s the only thing stopping me from getting. Facebook being attached to the OQ2, are there any other options that are just as good. I wouldn’t even mind paying a little more.
I LOVE the quest 2. I bought the extra battery which is amazing and helps add that extra balance on your head. I also bought a silicone cover that comes with a cover for the front and back and grips as well as silicone eye coverings which I love. A lot of the games are also cheaper than games for Xbox or PS which I also enjoy. Beat saber is the best. As well as mini golf. Also you can play board games with friends with Neverboard which is free to play!
I have a quest 2. It’s great but the battery life is absolutely awful. It lasts about an hour and a bit, even tho it’s meant to last 2-3 hours. I bought the Elite strap with the battery and it doesn’t do anything. Keeping the headset plugged on charge while in use doesn’t actually charge it either; it says it’s charging but the battery actually dies instead.
One question what I want to find out is if you need a pc to use the vr head set because I’m not sure, or can you use it to play games without a pc? Please someone let me know
It's great if you can get over the motion sickness. I bought the 64GB version nearly a year ago and paid $300. Now the 128GB version goes for $300. I still struggle with motion sickness after all this time. I need to play it more which would probably help to overcome that.

I mostly play my Quest wearing my glasses and sometimes with my contact lenses. My glasses fit no problem and can I normally adjust them from under the headset to get more comfortable. Glasses come in different shapes and sizes so you can probably find out if your glasses will fit. Obviously the smaller the frames the better. Also, Oculus and some 3rd party brands make accessories called fit packs which make the headsets more comfortable for glasses wearers. I have lens protector rings for about $20 which protect both my glasses and the headset lenses, but I have just ordered some prescription lenses for my Quest. I would say this is a more luxury upgrade at $80, but I am spending more time in VR for work and play, so I can justify this in the long term. All the best, Rich in Sweden.

Unfortunately, the headset lenses give the video image artificial distance, giving the best real world representation possible, so if you are short sighted in real life, you still need glasses in VR. I am not sure about long sighted though. My daughter is long sighted and says the image for her is best without her glasses.

Hey! Just push the oculus button and then there is a record symbol (a dot inside of circle) and after just hook it up to your computer and share the files. You'll know it's recording because a red dot will appear. Thanks for watching!

Yeah vr is the type of thing you'll realise how amazing it is once you actually have it and put it on. Some graphics may look bad or not as good or in some horror games not as scary on video but way better in the actual set. I think its super good for beginners since you dont need a gaming pc or anything else just a phone to set it up which obviously everyone should have. And just to note you do need facebook in order to set it up just incase it is a problem with you now i know some people are gonna disagree with me but if you really dont like facebook or want to hook it up to your main facebook account for any reasions then you can risk it and make a fake account ive heard of peope oculus accounts being shutdown for it but i personally have had one for over 3 or 4 maybe more months now and nothing has happend to me. But yeah overall this is a pretty good oculus set for me my own personal problem is lack of games i personally like other than that its a very good vr set for people to begin with.

Tbh I would get the gaming laptop first if you don't have a gaming device already, but if you do already have a gaming console then go with the Quest!, I think it's a nice addition but I wouldn't use it as my only primary gaming source just because the battery
It also depends what type of games you want to play....and what else you wish to do with the device. I consider the Quest 2 to be more of a games console. It does not have the high end graphical quality or the game size of PC games, but the game play feels the same or better because you are actually 'in' the game. It's a totally different experience that is hard to compare. I also work with my Quest. It is like having 5 floor to ceiling monitors, but totally portable and I watch Netflix, UA-cam and Amazon Prime on the go. I take it to my neighbours to play, I take it on vacation, I commute with it. It is a fantastic device. One thing that can be seen as a pro or a con is that some VR games require you to move, in some cases move a lot! Your body is the controller. I personally like this. There is a game called Space Pirate Arena where you run around a 10 meter x 10 meter VR lazer quest arena. It is amazing! However, there are just as many games where you can kick back and play seated. I bought a gaming laptop 9 months before my Quest 2. The specs were out of date within 6 months and I have not used it since I got my Quest. I work with VR equipment in an automotive design environment, and we are endlessly chasing specs. Work can pay for that!

If you don't really need the portability, do not waste money on a gaming laptop. A desktop for gaming is tremendously better than a laptop even 1.5x the price.

do u need special USB ports on your computer? most of my end ports are blue (2.0) and some are the older version. but no usb c ports. does it matter?

Yes you can. You have to stream it to your phone app but if you have a smart tv you can connect it via a app that allows you to show your phone screen on your tv

my friends who own the quest instead of getting the carrying case they just use the original box that it comes in

It's great if you can get over the motion sickness. I bought the 64GB version nearly a year ago and paid $300. Now the 128GB version goes for $300. I still struggle with motion sickness after all this time. I need to play it more which would probably help to overcome that.

I was using the Joystick on the controller but all games are different some are still the point and click

I mostly play my Quest wearing my glasses and sometimes with my contact lenses. My glasses fit no problem and can I normally adjust them from under the headset to get more comfortable. Glasses come in different shapes and sizes so you can probably find out if your glasses will fit. Obviously the smaller the frames the better. Also, Oculus and some 3rd party brands make accessories called fit packs which make the headsets more comfortable for glasses wearers.
I have lens protector rings for about $20 which protect both my glasses and the headset lenses, but I have just ordered some prescription lenses for my Quest. I would say this is a more luxury upgrade at $80, but I am spending more time in VR for work and play, so I can justify this in the long term.

Unfortunately, the headset lenses give the video image artificial distance, giving the best real world representation possible, so if you are short sighted in real life, you still need glasses in VR. I am not sure about long sighted though. My daughter is long sighted and says the image for her is best without her glasses.

if my PC gpu is gtx1060 would that be good enough to run basic games on low settings in vr?
Ehh, maybe. If you stick with 72hz and low resolutions then yea. But to get 90hz/decent resolution you'll need at least a GTX 1080 or similar.

Hey! Just push the oculus button and then there is a record symbol (a dot inside of circle) and after just hook it up to your computer and share the files. You'll know it's recording because a red dot will appear. Thanks for watching!

Well I don’t need the extra battery pack because you shouldn’t be doing VR for too long it’s bad for you they recommend 30 min max with 15 min break. I say 1 hour max

It comes with a glasses spacer but you'll probably want protective lens covers at least so you don't scratch the lens

Is it comfortable with glasses?

Yeah vr is the type of thing you'll realise how amazing it is once you actually have it and put it on. Some graphics may look bad or not as good or in some horror games not as scary on video but way better in the actual set. I think its super good for beginners since you dont need a gaming pc or anything else just a phone to set it up which obviously everyone should have. And just to note you do need facebook in order to set it up just incase it is a problem with you now i know some people are gonna disagree with me but if you really dont like facebook or want to hook it up to your main facebook account for any reasions then you can risk it and make a fake account ive heard of peope oculus accounts being shutdown for it but i personally have had one for over 3 or 4 maybe more months now and nothing has happend to me. But yeah overall this is a pretty good oculus set for me my own personal problem is lack of games i personally like other than that its a very good vr set for people to begin with.

Im still torn I want a oculus quest 2 because it sounds great and it’s has great price but I also want a gaming laptop what should I get
Tbh I would get the gaming laptop first if you don't have a gaming device already, but if you do already have a gaming console then go with the Quest!, I think it's a nice addition but I wouldn't use it as my only primary gaming source just because the battery
It also depends what type of games you want to play....and what else you wish to do with the device. I consider the Quest 2 to be more of a games console. It does not have the high end graphical quality or the game size of PC games, but the game play feels the same or better because you are actually 'in' the game. It's a totally different experience that is hard to compare. I also work with my Quest. It is like having 5 floor to ceiling monitors, but totally portable and I watch Netflix, UA-cam and Amazon Prime on the go. I take it to my neighbours to play, I take it on vacation, I commute with it. It is a fantastic device.
One thing that can be seen as a pro or a con is that some VR games require you to move, in some cases move a lot! Your body is the controller. I personally like this. There is a game called Space Pirate Arena where you run around a 10 meter x 10 meter VR lazer quest arena. It is amazing! However, there are just as many games where you can kick back and play seated.
I bought a gaming laptop 9 months before my Quest 2. The specs were out of date within 6 months and I have not used it since I got my Quest. I work with VR equipment in an automotive design environment, and we are endlessly chasing specs. Work can pay for that!

If you don't really need the portability, do not waste money on a gaming laptop. A desktop for gaming is tremendously better than a laptop even 1.5x the price.
