    Another tip for bleaching plants. Use a good quality water dechlorinator like Prime and add it to the bucket of clean rinsing water. That way the bleach is also being broken down chemically when being rinsed off the plants. It helps as an extra safety measure, especially when dealing with sensitive or small fish. Sorry if I just repeated any info you had given!

    That is black beard algae on the jungle vallisneria. I would cut out as much of the leaves that have it as possible. Its the worst algae I have ever dealt with and will literally attach to anything and everything.

    I love the videos and what you do. If you are having trouble growing plants in your pond room, I have two notes. 1st, the light level greatly increased shortly after reaching the planter. If the first state is how it usually is during the day, you may need to set up some more lights. 2nd, you said in a previous video that you only heat the water, not the air in that room. Even if the water is warm, if the (tropical) plants are exposed to the air / growing past the water’s surface, they could be getting cold shock.

    That big clump is also Watersprite! The thin spindley fronds are the emergent growth of the plant and once the ones in the 58 KG will end up looking like that once they grow above the water line! Each mother plant will grow daughters at each crook in the fronds of the emersed plants. Areal fronds will spore like ferns and Java ferns.

    Bless all of those kind folk :) The large jungle val is Giant Val ( Vallisneria Americana ) and it looks like Hygrophila Corymbosa is what's in the angle fish tank. The black stuff on the giant val looks like black beard algae.

    the black algae on the jungle val is black beard algae. siamese algae eaters will eat it or you can just break off the leaf and let the new ones come.

    When a stem plant gets 3/4 to the top of the tank cut it back and replant the trimmings! Another good lpant to add is a stem plant called Moneywort (aquatic plant name) aka Creeping jenny (terrestrial plant name). Roots easily and propigates from cuttings. Can grow well in a marginal, semi submerged habitat, like you are doing with the Watersprite.

    Great tip! Wish I knew this before adding some hornwort in my cichlid tank believing they would not devour them. They didn't eat them but developed some sort of rash that was cured with general cure and metroplex. Scared the crap out of me and had me up at all hours of the night checking on my 3 generations of yellow lab rusty mix.

    Watersprite works best as a flaoting plant to absorb nutrients. You canalso plant them in a wet substrate above ground and they will transform into a terrestrial form.

    Hi guys,
    Love the videos so far. With this video, have you guys ever thought about doing something like Aquaponics? You guys plant all these water plants to clean the water, if you guys create a couple of grow beds on that big piece of land of yours you can use all that poopy water to grow all sorts of veggies and fruits! These will then filter all that water of yours and give nice and clean water back to the fish. Its basically a win win! Unless you don't eat veggies of course ;)

    With the rise bucket you should be using fresh water ever time as the bleach of the plant will make the rise water bleach dilute also rise in bucket is good but once finshed run some water over it just to get any bleach residue

    If you dip or paint the roots in mycorrhizae or rooting gel like great white before planting them in the river and after their dip they would go ballistic and take over faster.

    Is there anyway of getting more light over the river tank? At least in winter? Think it would help. Also you need to trim stem plants so they will grow out and spread and you can take the trimmings and plant to start new ones. Maybe you already know. If so sorry just trying to help.

    • @chefrarestones1960
      @chefrarestones1960 4 роки тому
