    How to Check Your Payslip is Correct ..... DiT PAYCHECK
    👉 ditpaycheck.com.au
    Can’t thank DiT paycheck enough for its utility and simplicity in reading my own payslip. It can be overwhelming and confusing reading everything so having a resource like this, takes it out of the “too hard” basket and makes it very digestible.

    Just want to say I appreciate the study you've done and the work you will continue to do in the future. It's okay not to know everything about pay, tax etc. it's okay to be human. People place too much emphasis on doctors having to be perfect in all aspects of their lives. I'm sure a lot of people would agree they'd prefer their doctors to spend their time on their craft and savings lives, as opposed to worrying about tax. That's what the accountant is for ;)

    The annual salary is your base pay for working 76 hours per fortnight not including any overtime or other allowances (which incidentally you also don't earn super on). so 126k / 26 = $4846, which is how much you would earn per fortnight before tax without any overtime... you're actually earning a lot more with all the overtime and allowances, around $200k if this fortnight is representative...

    Thanks for the info and explanation, Harry. Why not set up salary packaging to save more on tax? Cheers!

    • @imasperharry
      @imasperharry  2 місяці тому +1

      this was one of the first payslips I got at a new health service. salary packaging companies may actually require an initial payslip to set up your benefits, hence this is why that one is tax free. but dw I maximised my salary packaging before the end of the fringe benefits year.

    Wild that you dont know your rates well and therefore are trusting the payslip is correct. 3rd doctor and not understanding the pay rate 1.5 until later in the video, damn!

      haha I guess it’s one of the last things you want to think about after a big day at work, one of the reasons tbh why there is a lot of unpaid overtime bc people other things to consider and worry about.

      @@imasperharry wow what a privilege to not have to concern yourself with the details of your pay and entitlements. Many people outside of healthcare are tired after work but still have to look out for themselves and can't get by knowing they have a huge base salary regardless. Doesn't take long either to read through contract and award, quicker than a journal article haha

    This was super interesting. I've got a few questions myself (purely out of curiosity).
    How many more years before you're not getting those big jumps in pay anymore (I don't know how to phrase it haha). But what I mean is you're a third year post graduate doctor at the moment, how many more years of post graduate work before it's done?
    Also how much do GP's, surgeons and the people you knock you out earn?

    • @imasperharry
      @imasperharry  5 місяців тому +1

      1) the main reason for this big jump in pay is essentially being a relatively young doc in a senior position, it will even out over the long term
      2) lots more years until it’s done!
      3) I guess broadly, surgeons > Anos > gps , but big generalisation and will depend on if you have a business model, private vs public, number of placements at different hospitals etc

    Would the pay rate for a surgical SRMO (still pgy3) be less?

    • @imasperharry
      @imasperharry  5 місяців тому

      Yeh so pgy3 (hmo) would have an hourly rate of around $48, which would be less 👍 check out the links to dit paycheck or my other video on how much doctors will be paid for more info!

    Great video as always doc Harry 🤩
    Just few questions: How did you make a big jump from HMO y2 (If I recall) to UnAcc PGY1? Like was there a job advertised that you gave interview to?
    Plus are there any prerequisites? Or u can just basically apply it after internee year?
    Thanks mate 🙌🏻

    • @imasperharry
      @imasperharry  5 місяців тому

      much love my friend :)
      first question - I just applied for the job and ended up getting an interview then got through that!
      so yeh I applied during my pgy2 job and now I am unaccredited in pgy3. I think some hospitals prefer you to apply in pgy3 year but I would just apply anyways tbh.

    Honestly I don't understand how you are so bad at managing your income and tax. How after three years as a doctor have you still not included a HECS/HELP payment into your PAYG system.
    And how do you not understand what a base salary is?

    • @imasperharry
      @imasperharry  5 місяців тому +4

      haha it was included but you need to set it up at different health services, also not the worst thing in the world if you don’t mind paying the difference at EOFY. also the contracts don’t usually say the salary from my experience - it is a usually just a fortnightly income quoted
