I've seen people cough worse than that from a good hit of weed in college, and as slow and painful of a death that some mustard or chlorine gas victims may have had, I think statistically speaking, most who became casualties due to it did end up surviving in the long run and are probably grateful they were not mercy killed.

Cause of mustard gas not being a gas, but a hydrophobic liquid it could be used to contaminate areas for weeks. There even touching the wrong surface could be enough to become a gas victim. If you look at the casualty numbers you see a sharp rise in gas victims after mustard gas started being used on the battlefields.

Or stumbled around, blind and deaf. And the depicted "lets hop in the crater and fish out our friend" is nonsense too. The chemicals burned skin and eyes. They'd come out of there screaming and clawing at their skin. If a blister agent - looking like 3rd degree burns with giant swelling balloons of yellow fluid all over them that popped and splashed the medics. Nobody would have jumped in after him. There was no hell like WWI.

There was a girl in my class who once sprayed perfume in someone's mouth while they were telling her to stop spraying so much perfume, I imagine this is how they felt
“Vapors settled” not an expert but mustard gas is about the only gas that settled, meaning they should be screaming in pain as the vesicant agent burned huge blisters in all their exposed skin whilst causing them horrible pain. And made trench raids hard because it settled in low places for up to years in some places and could “off gas” people. I’m studying to become an EMT and toxicology is part of what I had to study, and that is about as much as I remember. I know movies aren’t always accurate, and I’m not trying to be a “movie troll”. My dad was a veteran in the Persian Gulf War and was a M1A1/A2 Abrams Tank loader. I love military history but don’t like when there are so many inaccuracies that are taken at face value because no one does any research at the movie producers. But I’m probably the only one who cares this much. Love the movie, just bugs me sometimes when things become inaccurate.
I believe chlorine gas would also settle as it is heavier then air. Furthermore the burning of the throat would cause the poor victim no choice but to cough, their lungs forcing air up not allowing them to scream. Also I believe mustard gas would only start blistering a few minutes after exposure. Horrible stuff really, let’s hope these kinds of attacks never happen in the future

I can't understand why they continue to have the pikelhaube (a useless and actually tactically idiotic since it gives your position away) yet new recruits came in with stahlhelms (a helmet so ahead of its time it's the basis of modern helmets.)

“Vapors settled” not an expert but mustard gas is about the only gas that settled, meaning they should be screaming in pain as the vesicant agent burned huge blisters in all their exposed skin whilst causing them horrible pain. And made trench raids hard because it settled in low places for up to years in some places and could “off gas” people. I’m studying to become an EMT and toxicology is part of what I had to study, and that is about as much as I remember. I know movies aren’t always accurate, and I’m not trying to be a “movie troll”. My dad was a veteran in the Persian Gulf War and was a M1A1/A2 Abrams Tank loader. I love military history but don’t like when there are so many inaccuracies that are taken at face value because no one does any research at the movie producers. But I’m probably the only one who cares this much. Love the movie, just bugs me sometimes when things become inaccurate.
I believe chlorine gas would also settle as it is heavier then air. Furthermore the burning of the throat would cause the poor victim no choice but to cough, their lungs forcing air up not allowing them to scream. Also I believe mustard gas would only start blistering a few minutes after exposure. Horrible stuff really, let’s hope these kinds of attacks never happen in the future
