Great video. I am so happy to see a recent review of this bike which confirms my initial thoughts. This is my Story: I purchased my K1 in 2020 from Hayborough Market. The owner was an old guy. I took a gamble on ebay via bidding. The bike had no Service history except for a recent overhaul at Stan Stephens (tuning genius) workshop. It was Feb 2020 and very cold, dark and wet. On inspection the bike looked half way decent and started on the button. I had a gsxr 600 k3 before this and wanted to stick with the Suzuki brand but didn't fancy a 1000cc for the road. First impressions was it felt big & heavy but planted and confidence inspiring. Once home i parked it up and waited for warmer weather. I booked several track days and on riding to Snetterton the bike cut out and the FI light came on. To cut the long story short it was a case of process of elimination to get to the root cause. Which in the end was a corruct ECU unit. I purchased one off ebay for £20 and not had a problem since. I wasn't full of confidence due to the multiple breakdowns. However after several ride-out without a problem i was ready to rock n roll. Oh boy, let me tell you this bike is awesome. I have fallen in love. And it fills me with goodness to hear there are many K1 lovers out there :) Is there a K1 club in the UK?
Well I hope your bike is all good now... I have not yet had a ride on the 1000 but I can imagine it is a little over the top 😳..... K1's are getting more popular now and the 750 is such a brilliant engine.... A friend of mine has now got a K1 600 there were a few things to iron out on it and give it a tune up but it runs sweet.... A very revy engine and very fast for a 600.... There are clubs in the UK on Facebook but I don't know of any specific to where I am in Yorkshire.... I do have 2 more 750 SRAD's in a Co trainer that I need to get in the road..... I do prefer the SRAD as I'd scares the crap out me when it shakes around when the power kicks in.... But the K1 is more stable on the road.... And dosent look much compared to the Ducatis and aprilias etc but it will kick the ass out of them for sure... I knoe cos I have owned all of them 😉
@@PXCMEDIA Thank you. The bike runs so sweet. And is very fast. I have only just scrapped the surface with it and hoping to have a full Track Day season next year to really exploit the true potential of this wonderful machine. I have had no reliability issues and the engine is so flexible. And the seating position so comfortable. This season i've been up and down the country following the BSB as i am involved with a BSB Team and enjoyed every journey and completing all in one go with no need for rest even with a dodgy knee, hip and back lol Like your friend i owned a Gsxr 600 k3 which i so loved. It was revvy and very very quick. Unfortunately i was taken out by a car doing an illegal U-turn and totalled the bike. It was a beauty and did everything. 9 Track days. Most rounds of BSB and monthly commutes totalling 2k miles a month. I bought it with 18k on the clock and in 20 months racked up 34k with no reliability issues. The Insurance payout was quick and i bought the K1. Your friend will enjoy the bike for sure as you well know :) 5 of my friends all own Gixxers and raved about them whilst i had a Kwak 636 (04) (03) (02) and then decided to join the crew. I think i'll forever own this K1 even more so after hearing they are becoming rare on the road. Even though mine isn't in the best shape passer-bys pay compliments which surprises and delights me. It feels so planted in corners and at high speeds it's like sitting in my fav arm chair :) I cannot believe i actually put this bike up for sale during the Fi troubles but thankfully i held out. Now there is no looking back with this one. It would be so cool to have a k1 club rideout. Thanks for the info and ride safe keep the old girl upright :) and i look forward to more videos.
Thank you more ride videos is what I want to do in the long term but I have so much mechanical work to do I don't have time to ride as much... Plus I am testing new audio and video equipment for better quality vids for the future ✌️ we are on instagram and we often post what we are doing and where we are going on there 👍
Got a K1 my senior year in highschool (2001). Those fairings were on the 2000 model here in the US. Amazing machine for sure. Stupid fast once past 8000 rpm. It's meant to be ridden in the powerband.
Thanks for the comment you have just made me see my mistake this is a 2000 model I have put 2001 in the description.... 😬 they are a rocket ship the GSXR 750's my SRAD is incredibly fast for an old 750 too
@@PXCMEDIA No worries. Honest mistake my friend! I'd seriously give my left nut to have my old bike back. I saved up my money and bought one as my high school graduation present to myself, then rode it my first two years in college as my only means of transportation. Unfortunately I ended up getting hit on it by a guy on a....wait for it....Harley Davidson! Yes...a Harley is the reason I don't have my high school/college 750 anymore! Go figure. Rode the piss out of it in those days because I had something to prove to guys older than me and on bigger bikes. If you go back and read the older magazines you'll find that the 2000 750 gave the liter class bikes a hard time in those days, 929,zx9r, R1. It was that good and really only bested by it's bigger brother a year later, the almighty K1 GSX-R1000. Cheers!
I had a 1997 TL-S and I rode a friend's 2000 750 and switched the next year. Riding it is like riding an electric motor... Local canyons no problem keeping up with a very good rider on a ZX-12R (it was about 19 years ago at this point) but it was an absolutely amazing bike.
@@PXCMEDIA thanks! You too, look forward to seeing your other projects! We're going to be working on an old VFR400 soon, possibly turn it into a track bike!
Do you know the dry weight of this bike is 166kg? It is just few kilograms more than the 2021 model. The CBR 600 169kg from the same year. Was the lightest bike that time. Like you said bloody good bike, I have it 6 years now and she's a keeper.
166kg is very light without all the electric crap .... but some bikes seem to feel heavier even though they are lighter....I think its all down to where the engine sits in the frame etc.... but regardless this bike is designed very... very well and takes off like a bullet 💥👌
@@PXCMEDIA @THE PROJECT-X-CHANNEL no it is meant without fuel, cooler and oil. So it's below 200kg which is pretty good considering the age. Personally I feel it is a big bike which it is but feel light. I need more upgrades to keep her in shape, lol
I think I should upgrade my 96 SRAD forks & shock to a K1... I think that is possible... What are the brakes like on the K1? The SRAD are kind of enough, but that's it.
Brakes are brilliant really good but the brakes on my Srad weren't that bad to be honest the SRAD just shook around more at hard acceleration but this doesn't 👍
Well my wife passed her test 6 years ago and she had a ducati 748 for her first bike ....she got on well with it but after two weeks I let her ride my Ducati 1198 that was stupidly powerfull. She absolutely loved it and said it was easier to ride.. She now has a 2001 Yamaha R1 that is probably the easiest bike we have both ridden. So, smaller and softer engines aren't always the best. 🤙
One of the Best bikes made ,,,still have my 2000 GSX R 750 from New
😲 you have it from new ...that's awesome...they are crazy fast for a 750
I’ve just got a 2000 gsxr 750 for my first on road superbike 🤣
@trigger20090 that's awesome good choice 👌
Ive owned 2 k1s 600 and still currently have the second one and love every moment of riding it. 3rd gear and fourth are insane on these bikes.
Yeh when you wind on they make you want to throw up don't they ...and they just keep pulling
@TPXC it's like those but wait there's more commercials lol! Cheers mate 👍

Well there are plenty of them in the UK cheap at the moment 👍
The 2000 model isn't a k1 though .... its a GSXR 750 Y .... the k1 came in for 2001-2002 ect

Yeh I love both the SRAD and the K1 I don't see many of them around especially the 750's I would love a TLR one day also 👍
Iconic bike, seat cowl finishes off the rear nicely, wonder what the wheels would look like in black
Yeh the colours are the best on this one never seen one with black wheels but that would look good
@@PXCMEDIA only because I had an RGV many years ago with white wheels and they were impossible to keep clean
Yeh I know what you mean there is nothing worse than pulling up at a cafe with a clean bike and white wheels full of brake dust
I have a 2000 750 GSXR 32 k ml looking to sell good running machine looking good men thanks for the video wow nice handling
I bought this bike from you, just been out for a mega ride on it! You're right, it corners amazingly! :D
Brilliant this thing was fast! Take care ride safe man 👍
@@PXCMEDIA thanks! You too, look forward to seeing your other projects! We're going to be working on an old VFR400 soon, possibly turn it into a track bike!
Brilliant I would love one of them
@@PXCMEDIA Just changed the sprockets over to the original setup and it's a completely different bike! Thanks, and also you two!
Bloody good bikes had srad few years back absolutly loved it regret selling
Now is the Time to buy an srad they are rising fast in price we have two to restore later on the channel

Oh I see well start drilling some holes in it loose some weight..... But hey it rode fine to me..... And no limp modes on these bikes 👏🍺

Would you say it’s worth spending 2x the price of a 02 750 for a 05 750 or is the difference minute other than styling preferences?
I would say the 05 would be a better bike but it the 02 has the classic colours and there is nothing wrong with it
Where did you get that screen mate?
Hello the screen was on the bike when I bought it
How touchy is the throttle on that. I just got one ajd everyone keeps telling me that the throttle is SUPER touchy...
Really...its absolutely fine very smooth bike nothing at all like that 👍
So as a newbie in sports bikes, just take it easy and smoothly?
Well my wife passed her test 6 years ago and she had a ducati 748 for her first bike ....she got on well with it but after two weeks I let her ride my Ducati 1198 that was stupidly powerfull.

Might want to cover your speedo.........oh you did a few mins in. 😆
😬 it gets to 30mph very quickly
