Sometimes you seem like an angry person yet comical at the same time. It is entertaining for sure. Keep the videos rolling. I look forward to them and I appreciate what you do.
Holy shit,, I thought I was the only one who thought this way!! If I want sweet I will eat candy!! The other thing is Citrus. It does NOT belong on meat 🍖 or any other food cooked over a flame!!! If I want citrus flavor I’ll eat an orange, I don’t want my chicken to taste like an orange or lemon for that matter. I’m with you 100% on the food. Eddie wheels 😬🧑🏻🦽👍
Eric Weingartner your rant is spot on. On any steak just a sprinkle of kosher salt and a sprinkle of pepper on the medium cooked beauty and THAT'S IT!!! And whoever douses their meats with A1 or any other BBQ crap sauces needs a back slap with a welding glove. My wife is a chef and she laughed with your rant. She makes some killer sauces that would make you forget about ever going to another restaurant. I do not like blue cheese for wings, not on a salad or anything else but I do like Red Robins Black 'N Blue burger.
With a cam that does just under .600" lift or maybe right at, how does the better low and mid lift flow of the LS7 head affect power versus the LS3 head?
I've always wondered how much flow would improve if the factory valve job was given a performance valve job. Interesting. Also, I used to own a Sioux valve grinding kit. It was at least 40 years old when my Dad bought it at a garage sale for $20!
Yep.. I'm that guy.. Freakin love sweet glazed Salmon !! Grilled right, with some Sriracha sauce to contrast the sweetness.. maybe a few avocado slices on top...damn.. the Bomb !! 🤤
The small block Chevy has more development time invested into the aftermarket stuff and is very underestimated when compared to the LS . The LS actually is designed a lot after the Ford heads. Lol
Very interesting as always. Maybe you could do/say something about the pad at/around the spark plug hole. Most head has one. Some are big, others are small, some heads have none. What is the purpose of it? Have you tried grinding it out or shape it in any way, have any luck at shaping it? Im totally with you on the sweet meat thing! Its awful. In Sweden its called ”American BBQ” and is just horrible 😅
I have a sioux valve refacer I bought for 50.00 at an auction but it has the chuck with 3 balls and the runout is around .005 usually so i dont use it.
I'm still hoping to see discussions of curtain area, coefficient of discharge and port velocity, compared between different port volumes and valve sizes, stock vs aftermarket, etc.
A Sioux valve grinder is honestly the best one ever made! I’ve been to many shops that have a fairly new grinder & a old Sioux next to it! 99.9% of the time the new one never works! It’s just there for show, because every moron that thinks he knows, actually doesn’t! We still use our Sioux! I actually think it’s from the early 50s! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 L/S fanboys 😂😂😂😂 I actually like you much better now that I know you don’t love SWEET MEAT! That’s a woman’s thing! 😜😜😜😜😜
Hi Eric, thank you for testing al this things and sharing the informations with us. You always measure Flow with lift up 1“. In real world at what lift ore Spring pressure do you recommend to go away from the Hollow Stem Valves? Thank you for the great job
Great flow numbers on your heads and your Dragon Slayers, LOVED the rant on the food joints... .... I have to deal with the same thing, I'm Chuck from Clarksville, Tn.
If you have seen a change in flow with that minimal amount milled off, it's your flow bench moving around the averages mate. Something can't be right. It's probably the way your testing it.
Interesting results from the milling. I wouldn’t have guessed there’d be any difference at 0.018”. Someone a few minutes ago asked about variation, I’d ask the same about repeatability from one test to the next. If you take the head off the flow bench, then turn around and test again, how close is it? Overall I’m thinking these heads will be just about perfect for a street engine with a cam designed for a stock converter. Thanks for covering everything on the head work/valve job!
That is way too cheap. Stock cheap valves run $180. Then you still have to valve job them at least an hour labor. A good port job takes about 30-40 hours if by hand. If cnc machine maybe 4hours. Someone is giving away their work or just going for volume.
I have a old sioux valve grinder like that. Mine is a model??? 657? If I remember right? It's not in working order. But all of it is there. I want to improve it with a chuck like what you have there & then just try to figure out how it all goes back together. I've used them before & I love them. Never used a quickway but some reading I have dun the personal opinion of the author of the article was the quick way was alil more precise with making it concentric?? Don't know? For what I do, im sure this old sioux will be just fine. I'm in Iowa & these things can be found alot at farm auctions. I bought mine just from a local mechanic shop in town. No body uses them anymore like in the old days. Farmers don't work on there tractors like they used too. Mechanics shops seem to replace engines or heads now instead of rebuilding. Even high schools used to teach this in shop classes. Not anymore. So schools were selling them as well.
Just a generic question from an old guy. It used to be that sinking the valves any amount was considered a hp killer. Is this still the view and how much are the valves going in on modern valve jobs? Thanks dude, enjoying your channel.😊
Everybody knows the LS three is better than the 243 on the advantage to the 243 is you can use a smaller bore LS three needs at least a 6.0 or bigger bore
Put ya some glad press n seal on that faced surface, keeps it pristine and easy to remove. Rubbing alcohol will remove any residual residue. Keeps most scratches and/or blemished. That Souix valve grinder is one of the best and you basically stole it - great find!
@@WeingartnerRacing I’ll be sending you a set of Brodix T1 KC227, 897 CNC. I’ll be in no hurry. This is for my spare engine. I’ll holler when I’m ready.
@@WeingartnerRacing I listened to the whole thing. And listen and get why you defend small block Chevy. Because that’s a big part of your business selling and porting sbc heads. All the die hards just can’t ever get pass the fact that things get better with technology. Show where you can get a stock sbc and make 1300-1500 hp and live. The sbc just can’t do that.
There is more technological advances in the sbc than the ls so far. There is more than 50years in it. If you mean what stock short block sbc to make 1200-1500 you got me there because the sbc guy will not do that because they are smart enough to know that they if they will make that much power they might as well build it right and not use a junkyard engine. If you are talking aftermarket tell me a ls that beat Ron Rhodes sbc. Most of my business is actually sbf.
Boy that last tid bit was funny love the enthusiasm!

Your understating the LS architecture when your comparing it to Ford.
Agree..
How much unshrouding the valve helps? Bigger bore and unshrouding? Is there a point of diminishing returns?
How much can I take off a set of 5364 l76 heads before running into intake alignment issues
I have a black and decker 6505 and it works great old is not always bad.
Just wondering could you ask to leave the sweet sauces off your food there..... thats what I do.... just asking....
I try but half the time they put them on anyway.
Is it okay too save some $$$ on just porting exhaust port of the head..?
Having traveled in the US I’ve got to agree on the food comments, drove me crazy some places
My builder is opting to do a 5 angle single cut on my heads rather than porting for my NA build on my viper. Is there any benefit to that?
Great Rant! Always great info. I try to watch all your videos. Very smart guy.
Have you ported any ls7 heads? If so, what flow #’s do you get
Is there any possibility on that valve you had to remove .003 to make flat wasn't just bent .0015?
Depending on the source many times "new" valves need truing up, just because it's new doesn't guarantee minimal tolerances.
I love that valve grinder. It's the machine we had back in high school shop class. That takes me back!
What’s your opinion on low or midrange torque on the cathedral port stock head vs stock ls3 head?
The cathedral heads should make more low end torque. Not peak power.
Do you have any experience with all pro heads? I've seen them on sprint car engines at a world of outlaws show.
Just some 23degree all pros.
So what causes ls7 valves to drop?
Know what's bitchin you saved the best for last. Double thumbs up!
What's your margin for fluctuation? Like 0.5-1%?
According to the readings from the software it is .33%
