I heard this song when i was 15 years old. I loved it so much i named my daughter Kaileigh. She absolutely loves the story and song. To this day i love to listen to it.
Same here, lol! Heard this song in high school in '85 and told all my friends that if I ever had a kid it would be a daughter I'd name Kayleigh. A decade later when got pregnant, I luckily didn't have a boy I because it would have been awkward for him to bear the name Kayleigh! 😂😂😂
Marillion has continued to evolve and put out great music for over forty years now. You should check out some of their more recent work. A wonderful performance is the song “Go!” From their Royal Albert Hall show.
Beautiful! I loved this song since I first heard it long time ago. Recently I started to listen Marillion with their second singer I couldn’t believe that I missed such great music for so many years! So, my suggestion is to listen also their music post era Fish. I suggest Neverland and “the invisible man” as starters 😊
I heard Kayleigh for the first time a couple years ago. I really love it. The 1980s are my favorite decade for music in general. A friend of mine loves '80s music as well, so I shared this song with her and asked her what she thought. She said "Meh." We're no longer friends.
I saw them open for Rush in Buffalo in 85. It was an amazing night of amazing music. I was actually just as excited to see Marillion as l was to see Rush.
He had to have a stage name - because it's bad enough having the surname Dick, but he'd gone through childhood with everyone teasing him about his middle-name, calling him WIllie Dick. When he formed a short-lived record company people mistook it for a porn studio - The Dick Brothers. (Also the home of Dream Disciples).
Saw them in Rotterdam Ahoy, long time before this song existed. The whole centerfield was occupied by the fanclub. They made more noise then the band😅. Great concert. Nice one Harri, thanks. 😁👍💪
I love this, I remember a fellow student recommending Marillion as a surrogate for lovers of the Genesis of ten years earlier, with Fish as a reincarnation of Peter Gabriel. Well, not the same, but I like Marillion on the first albums. Sadly, I cannot like their more recent recordings, those are too political for me
Marillion filled the void in Prog, when Gabriel left Genesis and the Genesis 3 went more Pop / soft rock than Prog. Fish era Marillion is my fave years
“Lavender Blue” is seamlessly connected to “Kayleigh” on the album, so it’s only right to play both tracks together live.
Great point.
Wow, my lucky day! An accidental twofer with another fave from the Fish era. Thanks for letting it play, Harri!
Absolutely correct Hari. Great song 🎶
Dereck Dick (fish) is an amazing artist
His solo career is vast
Marillion changed singers and remains a great band

A timeless song. Remember it when it came out and still feels fresh today
New to me..definitely 80s need to listen to more of their songs

Love both, and the whole album!
love your enthousiasm, feels like listening to marillion with a mate!
Wow I do remember this song and love it!😊😊Almost forgot this band name!
Great reaction to an amazing song! Fish got his name because he used to spend massive amounts of time in his bathtub. Therefore,, “Fish”.
Just like Chris Squire before him - what is it with tall guys and bathing?

😁👍💪
Fish is most definitely not English, but I get it, they were formed in Ayelsbury.
You should listen to sugar mice by them, you'll enjoy it,
Decades ago, when this band launched, we said in a funny way, this band is like "Genesis for the poor" or so, lol.
Its a concept album the moves a theme from begining to finish
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Pete Trewavas is a fabulous bassist

Singer called fish, scottish. Rest band not sure.
They were from Aylesbury (about forty miles north-west of London, also the home of John Otway).
