  • A 30-min. documentary about Washington Island, a tourism destination located in the far northern reaches of Door County, Wisconsin. Requiring a short ferry ride across the historically-renowned Death's Door straits, Washington Island is a must-see on your Door County itinerary. Due to its isolation and unspoiled beauty, many visitors have commented that it feels like "Door County in the 1950's." Visit the Washington Island Chamber of Commerce website for more information about the Island - www.washingtonisland-wi.com. Visit the Washington Island Ferry Line website, www.wisferry.com, for information about the daily ferry schedule.

I have wonderful memories of swimming out at the Hagens' in the 80s and 90s when my family would drive up to spend time with my grandparents. 😊 Some of my favorite childhood memories are from the Island.

We're coming! Plan for 3 months in Wisconsin, as my great-great-great-grandfather Ovren Mikkelson settled in Cambridge in 1871 together with four kids and grandchildren. We'll end our trip at Washington Island, reminds me of Helgøya Island in Lake Mjøsa:-)

My buddy owned some land up there. I think it was only a acre. But he gave his portion to his sister back in the 80s. Wonder what that same acre is worth it now?
