    Cool thing with these power packs is you can leave it plugged in under the hood. Then you can drive a few miles still if your alternator is burned out

    I wish you covered whether the USB charging is 1 or 2 amps. Makes a big diff in charge time for phones. I'm sure it's on the spec sheet and I can look it up, but I wanted to point this out as something you may want to include in the Future.
    Anyways, this is a cool device and seems indispensable. I can't believe I was unaware of it. This woulda saved me so much trouble on a few occasions. I also love the fact it has a flashlight and it strobes as well as the ability to be a charging station of electronics. Having this on a motorcycle camping trip or something would allow you to perhaps leave a phone charging station at home. I wonder how it compares in that capacity, like how much does it drain the booster to fully charge a phone

    How long will it be able to jump start a car after the initial charge? How fast does it discharge by itself? Would it be a good idea to keep it hooked up within your vehicle? Does it have a mechanism which prevents it from constantly charging in such a situation? This product and others similar to this raise a lot of questions...

      Hi there, I left the NOCO GB20 500A connected and turned on from the night until the morning of the next day, and I used the timer around 13 hours and 54 minutes, the NOCO GB20 still had this charge, the battery in my car was discharged but not much, the NoCo helped to maintain some charge in the car battery, by pressing I held the button to use it manually and the car battery had more than 4v of charge, so the Noco quickly recognized the battery and started my car the first time, which the day before the car battery was completely dead less than 2v the NOCO did not recognize my car battery, I assumed it works to leave the NOCO connected to the car battery to maintain enough charge, then turn the NOCO off and on again and I put it in manual mode and it began to charge the car battery to start the car, and it started on the first try, it is a long text but it will help you, My Car Honda civic 2009 LX 1.8L 4c.

    I purchased one at half price on a clearance aisle. I'm concerned I may get less life out of it if it was in the store a long time. It is rated up to 4.0L engines. Have used it to start a 4.0L Nissan Xterra and 5.9L Dodge truck.

    • @sapphire163

      It worked. However, I would recommend getting a more powerful battery if you have a vehicle with a big engine.

  • @CPDheadstomp
    @CPDheadstomp 5 років тому +6

    It’s my understanding that this model is meant for a 4.0L engine. Basically a V6. Which to me isn’t a small vehicle in today’s standards. So I would guess this isn’t just meant for small cars and ATVs.

    • @sapphire163
      @sapphire163 3 роки тому

      The GB20 clearly states it is designed for engines up to 4.0L. It isn't limited to a specific engine size, and can be used for smaller engines.

    • @tsdbhg
      @tsdbhg 9 місяців тому +2

      Not all engines of the same size require the same amount of power to start. This version can start up to 4.0L engines depending on how much power is required. I'm sure there are many 4.0L engines that this version won't be able to start.

    I've had one for a couple of years. Tested it when I got it, kept it in the trunk and occasionally charged it to full. Pulled it out today to start a 4-cylinder car I haven't started for a few weeks. I noticed the case was split open on one end so I tried to just tighten the screws since they were loose. Screws have an unusual triangle head. Anyway, they wouldn't tighten so removed all of them to find out that the lithium battery itself had swelled. That was why the case was split and the screw mounts were broken. Maybe it was the heat but if I can't keep it in the car what good is it?

    • @pascal2085

      You shouldn't keep lihtium-accumulators in the car. It get's either way to hot on a sunny day with temperatures above 60°C, maybe even 70°C in the car or it could get way to cold.

    is there a reason to place the negative cable on the engine vs the negative post on the battery? I've seen people do this before and wondered why. I've jumped a ton of cars and always connected the negative to the negative post. same when charging the battery.

    • @GigaDonk
      @GigaDonk 8 років тому

      +Kimo Kalihi Because the starter gets ground directly from the block it's better to ground through the block.

    • @boxturtleman
      @boxturtleman 8 років тому +4

      +Kimo Kalihi To prevent a possible spark near the vents on the battery caps as the connection is made (if its not a sealed battery). A battery can vent hydrogen gas which is highly explosive.

    • @kimokahikolekalihi
      @kimokahikolekalihi 8 років тому

      +GigaDonk makes sense on someone else's car. On my cars the grounds have all been upgraded and have basically no resistance. Thanks for the reply. Hadn't thought of that.

    • @benigo15
      @benigo15 8 років тому +1

      +Kimo Kalihi the reason why you should not hook up directly to the negative terminal is because you can get a spark when you connect the jumper cables and if the battery has released any flammable fumes they will combust. Now 99% of the time I jump start I always connect right to the negative battery terminal and I have never had a problem.

    Hey man, great video - thank you so much for taking the time and sharing the insight. Quick question - is it okay to just store the battery in your trunk? A bit concerned about hot summer temperatures (reaches out 95 in the Summer months in New York where I live), and just wondering if you thought it'd explode or catch fire? Want to make sure it's ok to store somewhere in the car (trunk) for emergency use. Thanks again - really appreciate it!
