OK, Andrew…Time for a talk. As one who lives alone and has been through the old-home renovation process more than once, you need to keep a couple of things in mind. First, you are just coming off an 18-month project that absorbed all your time and energy, and kept you in contact with your brother and the rest of the world. You are now going through a natural (and needed) decompression-but please don’t let that overwhelm you. You picked your house in that lovely spot for a reason, and those reasons persist. So DO get help with the issues with the house-I always found a good architect to be worth his/her weight in gold-but also get away from the house on a regular basis and find a group of mates to do things with (football? swimming club? fado guitar? whatever…) Life is more than one endless house restoration…And Larry’s renderings are gorgeous, so keep that goal in mind! Best of luck!
Absolutely spot on advice. Get help where you need to and don’t apologise for it. We’re not machines. Get your roof done professionally and concentrate your efforts on the rest of the house. You don’t have to do this all my yourself, you need to enjoy this process. Good luck and I know this will all be worth it and you can do this 🙃🙃
You weren't going around in circles Andrew... you were circling the wagons and that's a good thing. What you dreamed and did with the townhouse was amazing and this place will be awesome also.
I get it-- Long term massive DIY projects always have unexpected occurances that require making temporary solutions . And then you need to make changes. If you were a professional designer and builder you would have the experience to help anticipate the future. But, you're gaining experience and you are teaching all of us one important value - perseverance. I've been enjoying your journey since I first ran across your page a few weeks back, you are doing things differently and that is great. Plus, your subscriptions have grown by leaps and bounds since I first signed on. Congrats and keep on keeping on. Oh, and your narration is great; it makes us feel connected.
Hey man it’s been a couple of weeks, I hope you haven’t fallen down your well! Joking aside, hope everything is ok and you’re just taking a well deserved break
I thought in a past video you were waiting on a roofing firm to get back to you Andrew ? Throw some new lintels up and re-skin the old roof, what happened. 19.46 that was so kind, for someone to have done there vision for your house, wow it looked realy good. I've crammed in all your videos over the last couple of weeks so i'm looking forward to the next phase, good luck...
Andy, great meeting you in Ikea today. So strange to watch all your renovation videos and then the place I run into you in the Algarve is a place for ideas for renovations. You are just as down to earth as you are in your videos. Overall the plans look great, the overall feel of the house from those drawings look incredible. As much as it is daunting, you are right, you did the last 4 houses so its super challenging but so were those houses and look at them now. I also got to get outside more and do more manual labor cause I asked my wife "how old do you think he is?" and she said "In his 30's" :) Thanks for chatting to me for a while. Your content is great and please keep it flowing. Take care man. Best wishes on fixing that roof and making that house exactly how you want it! Will be worth it!
Those renditions are stunning Andy, he did an amazing job. Your work canvas looks ready to start. Thank you for taking us along with you. Good luck with the roof.
I like that I’ve seen you move the house 4 times. I mean, why have a house that’s mobile if one never takes advantage of the mobility? I’ve always thought that it’s a shame to see you redoing work, but I also love that you always invest your time and energy into making each place comfortable. 😊
Wow, just wow. The design inspiration for the house is so gorgeous. It looks like a comfortable, peaceful retreat, and exactly what you deserve for all your hard work. That house on that land in that part of the world is a piece of paradise. To me, it’s to die for. As always, I look forward to you videos. Stay well and have a great week.
I agree with starwonder, his advice, given your mood, seems spot on. You'll get your mojo back soon. Anyway, your vlog was first class. Beautifully planned and delivered. Loved every bit of it apart from a slight worry about how you are! Don't worry, it will all fall into place soon. You're a really resourceful guy with so many abilities that you put us all to shame. The village house was a mammoth task and anyone would feel physically and emotionally drained after that. Hopefully, you won't be under the cosh quite so much with your own renovation and can pace yourself a bit more. Keep going Andy, you'll get there. 👍
I love That the hallway is part of the master bedroom. I hope that the corner room next to the kitchen/pantry is going to have a toilet so that people don’t have to go through your bedroom & closet, in order to use the toilet… just thinking out loud. Everything else is absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to see you start on your personal home project.😊 By the way at the end of your clip Chris splashes a little whereas Will gets to jump the entire puddle without a splash. That’s so cute 😂
Larry is a genius! That plan could be followed to the T. The little tree at minute 22:45 says it all, figuratively and literally, it's time to make lemonade!
You know what, it is autumn, time to go inside, reflect, rest, and regain strength, especially after the village project, everybody who is following you understand that, the weather kind of forces that process, better (kind of) enjoy the ride, as it obviously needs to be, like a hibernation… Really enjoy your channel, the approach on how to deal with the given circumstances, and way more! Thank you for sharing!
Hi! I’m new to the channel. Really enjoyed spending the day exploring what you’ve done. The village house is just amazing. You should be really proud. Great work. Now, I started watching for the the satisfaction of the work, but I’m staying for the dogs. They absolutely crack me up and fill my heart with joy.
The cgi renderings are amazing and so inspiring! After seeing what you and your brother did with the village house, I have no doubt you’ll create a beautiful oasis here for yourself. Take the time you need for a break before diving head first into it all again! Walks with the dogs, coffee with friends, star gazing…whatever nurtures the soul. Really appreciate all you put into your channel Andy!
What a great update. I loved the walkthrough of the design, and the inclusion of the painting of Burt was lovely...brought a tear to my eye. I'm so excited to see what you do, please keep the videos coming just as they are..I look forward to your latest episode every weekend.
The house has great bones so I think with your creativity & skills you’ve got a real gem here . Larry’s ideas are certainly inspiring ,the whole joint looks super.
Those designs re beautiful. Nice work Larry. Looking forward to seeing which parts of each you use. Have a break Andy. Go for some cold water swims and get invigorated.
Hi Andy, the designs that Larry has done are very good but I also think there’s a big expense following those designs so maybe juggle your own ideas within his proposals to reduce cost based on your comments of your budget. You’ve done this many times before and they all look fabulous and the joint venture with James and Cristina on the village house is outstanding. Whichever way you go I’m sure it will look great. All the best, Mark. (You know who I am)
Wow!!! Good job Larry. I'm so thankful for UA-cam that I get to see cool places and see the lives of cool ppl that I would never experience without it!
It will come and sooner than you realize 😉, you have a blank canvas. Just let it come to you. Open up, hear your soul giving it. You already felt it. Love to see you "paint" it, your dream house! 🍀🎨😉❤️
Your property is is only in its infancy in terms of what you envision so I am glad you have settled on staying, I think you are wise to get help on the roof so you can breathe going forward. Pace yourself so you don’t wear your mind and body down, you have been consumed with the village house for a long time! Love watching the dogs jump over the water!💕🇨🇦
Andrew I know you can do it and anyone who's watched a few of your other videos knows this too. Getting someone to help with the roof and having an architect's "seal of approval" to your plans will set your mind at ease and then the fun can start :-) Personally, I wouldn't trade that house for anything. The land is just too beautiful and the house is just the right size in my opinion. I have no doubt that you're going to transform it into a sanctuary of beauty, peace and calm.
thanks for the reset. this is a project that should be fun creative and rewarding, but not all consuming. step back when you need to, enlist help when needed, but in your case not relied upon. no hurry, take us on a journey with the highs and lows as you have always done, not a trek of turmoil, enjoy it and let us enjoy it with you.
Nice job on the bus. Getting the area cleared around the house will give you room to work. Larry's renderings are a great starting point to figure what you want to do. The roof is probably the main thing right now. Best regards, Andrew.
What a massive clear up you did, Andy! The property you own is gorgeous, as is evident from all the views from the house windows👏🏻👍🏻. Now that you’ve cleaned away nearly all the clutter, it takes so much mental stress away🥰. Take some time to relax and reassess what you want to do. With your creative skills, you will find a way to stretch the tight budget.
Sometimes we need to stop, go for a coffee with a friend , give our thoughts place and time, have a good rest, then like comes the Sun again brights the day and our ideas and all falls in the right place. Just take it easy, we aren't going anywhere.
Glad you came to your senses. 😁😁You have not don't much on the house yet because of other projects. However, you have put so much work into the property itself.
Dear Andy, For what its worth, I agree with Starwonder. Give yourself time to breath and recoup. You are extraordinarily creative, resourceful, talented grounded, and a gem to listen to. Thank you for sharing your journey, the lows as well as the highs. As daunting as this project is, you did make a wise choice. That land has many hidden gems for you. I'm sorry the weather is not ideal, and it can be depressing but if you give yourself the space and open yourself to your own inner voice, you will know what to do and when to do it. We are rooting for you. Take care.
I am so glad you decided to keep the place! You are so-o blessed to have your land and home. It is so beautiful! Please don’t succumb to selling it, ever! You are just so fortunate and it will be beautiful when you are finished. You are so talented and have such a gift from God to make it that beautiful!
Take it slow, take it easy and don't forget to take a warm day at the beach now and again. Make a few friends at the local watering hole. Have a beer and a conversation regularly for your own sanity! Flat roofs are a pain in the butt! The rubber liner can help, but the darned things seem to leak regularly. In the American Southwest many if the homes paint their front doors turquoise. It's supposed to ward against evil spirits. Regardless of that, it is an attractive addition to the approach to the house.
Hi Andrew. I'm so happy that you came to your senses 😜🙏 and if you should ever decide to sell, I want to be the first one to know ❤. Stay + 🥰 and please don't stop talking in your videos, I love to here your voice and what you have to say.😊
Your honesty about how you feeling and the various options you have and are considering made me feel okay...we are also making some big changes and some days one can feel overwhelmed and out of sorts...I wish you well with whatever your decision.
Yes, looks like a structural engineers is one of your first ports of call. But there is a reason this property is in your hands. Same with the village house. You have the imagination, experience, stamina, creativity, agility in both body & mind, and a good eye for a straight line to restore this wonderful building. Larry’s renderings are indeed an encouraging look into the possible future. Citrus looks gorgeous, congratulations! Hugs to Will & Cris. Cheers from Oz 😊
Hi Andy, I was watching another channel in Portugal who just did a roof! Looks like a great job too. Not that I know anything. But it was on the channel mr and Mrs adventure and they were a crew from the Ukraine. They looked like hard workers. Hope that helps.
Your a better man than I GungaDin. I would have torn it down and started fresh. The house is split right down the middle. Structurally a puzzler!!!’ But you have the skill and expertise, so what ever you decide, I’ll keep enjoying your channel.
YES!!! It does rain ⛈ in the Algarve... and when it does...it pours 🌧 The Algarve desperately needs the rain, as up until September we hardly had any sufficient down pours. Your Home will look amazing when it is finished! The virtual interior looked beautiful. Glad the tent structure stood up to the horrendous storms. Looking forward to future videos, Andy📹
Andy you are an inspiration you just have hit burn out, take some time, yeah the weather is crap its crap in blighty! I sense trepidation in your next home, it may do you some good to work with others for a time, chin up, I await with baited breath been with you from #1 thats my faith in you, take care you can sometimes feel a loss when your work and direction ceases.
You can take your time and enjoy the journey. No one else to interfer with your schedule. The designs are magnificent. Have a great time. Look forward to your videos.
Andrew, the content you make is awesome to watch, plus I learned something new every time I watch a new episode. You have to be extremely proud of all the work you do!! Good luck on the roof or whatever project you decide to do next, cannot wait to see what's next? Don't overwork yourself and also enjoy your life as well because it goes by fast. Hope to see you soon.❤
Watched all your videos from day 1 now, loved them all and found all your little chats really interesting. Keep up the good work and all your many talents. Looking forward to seeing how your homes going to turn out as i,m sure its going to be beautiful like your other projects. You live on sutch beautiful land. Sorry to hear bout burt passing, but hope hope you, will and chris have many happy adventures together. Looking forward to many more videos. Keep smiling. Xx😀
Mate, you’re an awesome talker and I really appreciate your commentary. Please keep doing what you do so well. Larry has so taken what you’ve envisioned and applied it awesomely well to his vision of what you want 👍
Most important to do now is tackle that crack in the house Andrew. I think it is largely the crack that weighs on your mind. The renovation in the village allowed you to postpone that crack and put it out of your mind. Now, as you start working on this house, it is back. The best thing to do is to address that crack now. Once you see the solution and know you can get it done, the joy will come back. As an architect/engineer, I advise you to get a good view of that crack now and work towards a solution. The success of this renovation depends on solving this problem. Lay the crack open. See where it all runs. As far as I can see, it is in the roof, but also in the walls and runs right through the house. Also look into the floor and the foundation. Dig the foundation clear at the location of the crack to get a good view of it. But never dig under the foundation, nor directly next to it to a level deeper than the foundation. Dig just far enough so that you get a view of the foundation and know if it is cracked too. Then get a good structural engineer and get advice on this problem. Investigate whether there is still any movement and how to resolve the situation. One possibility could be to work everything back together again. Another possibility could be to leave the crack as such and rebuild it into a neat dilatation joint. Research this together with a structural engineer. My words here are just initial thoughts with a direction for a solution to show that there are more possibilities. All is not lost. Not even if the crack cannot be removed. There are many buildings that have dilatation joints. For larger buildings it is even common practice. Most important now is to investigate where the crack all runs and what causes it. Then you can work towards a solution.
I was watching it too and fantasizing about patching it up with something elastic, kind of an expansion joint 🤭☺ - then again I have a lot of imagination and zero technical knowledge. I'm sure Andy will do a stellar job, though. 🍋🏡🦒☀🐕🐕
The design Larry put together is simply fantastic . I would live there any time . One thing I noticed was the Cat ? lol Something for the dogs to play with . And the Bar person . A useful addition . But for now ,take a break . have a propa relax ,save those penny's ready to build a megga home !
Hi Andrew, I just found your channel a few days ago and have now started watching from the beginning. I just wanted to say thank you for putting so much interesting and entertaining content out here for everyone to enjoy and learn from 🙏🏻
Great plan to have someone help with the roof. It will definitely reignite your passion, excitement & motivation to start this huge project. The Rendings are absolutely beautiful - loaded with inspiration, ideas and fuel to get you going. BUT of course, make sure you escape for a bit and do whatever you love to do - for you will come back recharged and ready to take this on.
The mock up video was awesome and i'm sure just what you needed as a little pick me up as to what your setup could look like once finished. Sometimes its the creative vision that causes a roadblock as to how you proceed. But what a vision that video created and what an end result you could have. Maybe the end is scary because your thinking what next, but there will be other avenues to go down which will bring you special moments. But what a wonderful journey you are already on with us along for the ride Andrew. Keep going buddy 💪
When you showed the views from the windows and the roof of the house - it's easy to see why you picked it. What a fantastic location, really beautiful! Yes, don't forget to take a well deserved break now and then. You will be able to return with refreshed vision then.
What ever direction you chose, I'm sure it will be amazing. I keep looking at the wonderful piece of land. The land has so much going for it. Stay the course. It will be wonderful.
Oh my gosh I don’t remember who sent you the images of the beautiful vision of the house but they are just perfect, so I hope you can incorporate at least some of the ideas. I watched your’s & your brother’s extensive literal remake of the house in Portugal I can’t tell you how impressed I was ya’ll’s work ethic is unbelievable
Larry’s renderings are gorgeous of course. But I think that since you’ll be doing most of the renovations yourself, a lot of you will end up in the final design and look of your home. Trust your instinct, as you’ve got a solid track record. And I’m sure that there will be many interesting features and hidden nuggets you’ll uncover as you rehab each room that I’m sure you’ll come to treasure as much as any design feature a professional could imagine.
It's nice to see a video to understand the possibilities of the house finishing in the near future. You are not old yet, reflect on everything and what you want to achieve on your property. It would be nice if you could get that roof slab scanned to see what is going on in the slab. Stay positive, meditate and do some early morning yoga for a good start everyday.
Hi again Andy, myself and Harry has been watching all your video's and "yes" we find it amazing and interesting what you guys did with the village house and all your work on your previous houses. I am just sending you a link of a Podcast that I listened to while cleaning our home. When you have time, I think if you listen to it while busy with whatever, you will find valuable advice like we all do by just listening and remembering and relating to our own struggles with "life and what we got out of it" in the past. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying you are procrastinating😂 but I wish I had her advise years ago after we built our second home and sold it😢. Hang in there!!ua-cam.com/video/gqJlItPct4g/v-deo.htmlsi=b6uow6cwaAvHyTvS
As my sister would say, “who put them in there”😂😂😂😂I know you are just tidying up and preparing yourself for what will be a mammoth but exciting new project. You home. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰you have cleared. So much out of the house already, well done.I’m so glad that you are going to get some help with the roof. It will make such a difference.some wonderful ideas from Larry. Great for inspiration.❤️❤️❤️
That orange tree...wonderful, bearing first fruits... Step one is def making your roof waterproof. The rest, down to earth, less is more, open plan design, will auto follow. Take your time, mistakes cost. This is going to be interesting!🇿🇦🇮🇱 Btw, check out Suzi, in Monsanto, Casa das frutas. Charming area!!
G’day from Western Australia!🦘🦘🦘🦘 Well, Larry has excellent taste, as do you and if it all looks half as good as the mockup it will all be wonderful. Thank you Andrew for your update, we are so looking forward to seeing what you do in the next few months. 😀
Hey Andy, I'm sure what ever you choose to do in your house, is going to be as spectacular as all the other houses you have done, can't wait to see the start of it, take care ❤❤❤❤❤
OK, Andrew…Time for a talk. As one who lives alone and has been through the old-home renovation process more than once, you need to keep a couple of things in mind. Thanks and thanks. This will be enjoyable and satisfying. Always nice to meet people. Not the beach but ikea was dry ha ha
The garden makes the whole thing worth hanging on to
Just love how it seems in some comments your telling this man what to do with there own property when obviously he doesnt need it.
💕Your bus would make a great place to put guests once you’ve moved into the house💕
Seeing the boys playing together really warms my heart. You're giving them such a great life❤

Andrew don't doubt too much. The house is already there, all you have to do is start. I also suffer from the gray weather and the clock😃👍
Hey Andrew, you and the boys are looking great 😊

I won’t be selling it 👍
Take it slow, take it easy and don't forget to take a warm day at the beach now and again.
Beautiful alley vista through the windows.
Oops, forgot Larry is spot on!
Hi Andrew. I'm so happy that you came to your senses 😜🙏 and if you should ever decide to sell, I want to be the first one to know ❤. Stay + 🥰 and please don't stop talking in your videos, I love to here your voice and what you have to say.😊
Rain is good for the plants 😅 You have a great place, lovely house, don’t forget to see it.
If you hang a cloth from your water spout, all the rain will go into your container hole...just a thought.
I would keep Larry on retainer, Beautiful design.
Hi Andy, I was watching another channel in Portugal who just did a roof! Looks like a great job too. Not that I know anything. But it was on the channel mr and Mrs adventure and they were a crew from the Ukraine. They looked like hard workers. Hope that helps.
INCREDIBLY TALENTED!, LOVE IT!! EVERYTHING HE DOES IS JUST AMAZING!
Wow, Larry's visions are wonderful
Good luck with taking that first step, and yes get help when needed.
Larry is sooooo good with his ideas…
You lift my spirits every time I watch your show..!!!!

Smart to get the roof taken care of first thing. Alot of people don't do that.
I love the pictures of the house I hope you go with them Andy
We like your talking Andy. It is nice to know how you are thinking things through.
Have a rest first. Your plans are great and I have no doubt you will achieve what you want. We have all Sean you at work. Take 😘
You're doing an amazing job.
Wow you have been busy. Get the help when you can so you can enjoy your home sooner. You do live in a gorgeous place. ❤
👍
Nice doggies!
The design Larry put together is simply fantastic . I would live there any time . One thing I noticed was the Cat ? lol Something for the dogs to play with . And the Bar person . A useful addition . But for now ,take a break . have a propa relax ,save those penny's ready to build a megga home !
Gorgeous and you are incredible and inspiring, my friend Gill lives in Portugal she loves it and has no regrets, keep on going ♥️
Well done with the bus, looks cosy and ready for a temporary winter home 😊
When you showed the views from the windows and the roof of the house - it's easy to see why you picked it. What a fantastic location, really beautiful! Yes, don't forget to take a well deserved break now and then. You will be able to return with refreshed vision then.
Those renderings are stunning!🥰
The plans are gorgeous😊
What ever direction you chose, I'm sure it will be amazing. I keep looking at the wonderful piece of land. The land has so much going for it. Stay the course. It will be wonderful.
Loved the shots of the sky!
Great before tour. I am waiting to see your vision of the finished project.
G’day from Western Australia!🦘🦘🦘🦘
Well, Larry has excellent taste, as do you and if it all looks half as good as the mockup it will all be wonderful. Thank you Andrew for your update, we are so looking forward to seeing what you do in the next few months. 😀
Your property is so beautiful, I would not give it up.
Hey Andy, I'm sure what ever you choose to do in your house, is going to be as spectacular as all the other houses you have done, can't wait to see the start of it, take care ❤❤❤❤❤
