0:56 Let's be real, it's the same thing with EVERY diesel that just had their phasing out being announced.
Hit the GP9 one right on the head. Nothing like the sound of a supercharged EMD 567
Nothing like a gp9 going down your local shortline at 15mph almost derailing every minute!
Agreed, I fit both parts. Technically I prefer the GP7, but the GP9 is close enough. And I like classic rock. So a very correct choice.
(Request) can you do “what your favorite railroad says about you”
Norfolk Southern: You're either a Rails of Highland Valley fan or you hate CSX.
Union Pacific: You're only there for the Steam program.
BNSF: *Haha Warbonnet go brrrrrrr*
CSX: You are basic.
@@ninyaninjabrifsanovichthes45 I am very basic. NS is good because of the heritage units and special horns, but CSX has better power, so I like them better. Not to mention, they have units on par with NS now with Leslie's. So CSX is better.
*FIGHT ME.*
Wisconsin & southern: you live in Wisconsin or northeastern Illinois and are just me. @Trainlover i saw you in one of SMT’s livestreams
As an IRM volunteer, I can confirm that about the E5.
bro is in uplt
Well, nice to know that my favorite F40PH is so commonly loved that it's joked about how much we love 'em. But yeah, I also loved the Dash-8-40s when they were new -- just something cool about the look of a narrow-nose Dash 8. And then, yeah, the SD-40 is the ultimate workhorse.
2:12 My favorite is the GP30 and that description fits me perfectly
As an Alco fan, and particularly a big fan of the C-630m, the description was very true as I am a big diesel punk and love some good true thrash.
Love your profile pic
@@Dulaman107 thank you
Alco in general has some of the most unique engine sounds, always sounding like they are a quart of oil low with that low growl lub lub idle sound. I have a C-636 I run on my clubs layout and its one of the coolest sounding things. Nice thing its a Bowser unit with a ESU loksound 5, so its got the best sound one can find, a very fun unit. Also fits the layouts modeled year perfectly (1970, BN merger year) as its an SP&S painted unit, with a BN patched number under the cab.
Now to find that elusive C-415 for a Chehalis Western project......
nice to see you here
As someone who loves the F59s, I as a matter of fact also love the Sounder and TRE versions. The AMT ones can be scrapped…
Sounder is fantastic
Trinity Railway Express!
I love the AMT/EXO ones
The old paint was crap
I like the og F59PH's with the triclops cab and i like both the Go and Metrolink units
Damn really nailed the GP-9 one holy crap
Yeah but the last diesel in the video doesn't have windows, and i hate that locomotive and its the only diesel i hate
My favorite’s the Genesis and I wasn’t disappointed by what it thought of me as.
3:00
This just describes me in All ways
At 1:01, I agree with you. I like the standard cabs more than the wide cabs.
God dammit I drive the 44 tonner at a museum. Spot on.
My personal favorite diesels are ALCo rsd-1 (e-1645 version), and EMD gp9s. The RSD-1s are my number one favorite because of their unique design and versatility.
My enthusiast brain likes older units, but my railroader brain knows the GEVOs are the most comfortable to spend 12 hours in. Although my colleagues hate them since they are loud, the 8800 and 8900 series SD70M-2s I do have a soft spot for since the cabs feel very spacious. Although the seats could be more comfortable.
Probably my favourite engines I have worked with but would never want to spend much time in are the Ontario Southland Railway's RS-18u's
my dad used to drive for UP and he always brought a little seat he got with him, he said it was the only thing keeping him sane lol
1:43 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My fav’s are the Geeps, F40PH (I know, sue me), P42DC, C40-9, and the Centennials.
C40-8M, C40-8s and D9s are generally my favorite
The most truthful words.
I’m actually glad this video showed up in my feed a few minutes ago! It’s how I found this channel and subbed to it!
Thanks for describing me in the SD45.
You’re doing gods work out here soldier, keep it up
Also mix of Modernist and OG
3:06 is very accurate, I have a love for the Gensets and a constant urge to scream incoherently.
You nailed me so perfectly with the alcos you could not have been more accurate.
2:08 Love the "A" joke. It's subtle, but still funny.
My favorites are the Centennials because my great grandma has some toys of them I grew up playing with.
Im all for an ACe, GEVO and P42
The Baldwin centipede describes me perfectly 2:36 in which yes. I LIKE TRAIN TRUCKS
Love the videos dude. Keep the content up!
i have multiple favorites and all of their descriptions fit me
Idk if me believing in cab unit supremacy is a compliment or and insult.
Eh I’ll just take it as a compliment
Also how about a part 2 where you would do steam trains or European trains?
With the exception of the f-125 and the acl44 charger I like diesels from any era in this country they're all unique they're all different and the paint schemes really make them stand out from the early days of yard switchers and f units to the modern cabinets we have today I am a steam freak but I also love diesels so all these describe me in a way LOL but like I said I don't care for the f-125 or the acl44 cements charger the reason ugly those are not trains from America those are trains from Europe the only trains I like that are of European design are tex rail and the dcta A train those running Texas I also like the dark light rail those are Japanese but I grew up with them so what can I say thanks for making this video Happy rails and God bless
as an Australian, i 100% know the differences between these engines.
however, i challenge you to do an Electric Multiple Unit video like this ^-^
As a charger fan myself… guilty as charged
Ok, had to watch this 3 or 4 times before I got it, but, yeah, ya got me on my favs.
1:59 *I do need help*
BUT THEY LOOK SO GOOD!!
Sd60s are my fav because ive worked on quite a fww as a conductor and they are quite nice from a conductor perspective. Load fast for kicking cars with power to match. And most of the ones NS have some very mint k5las
0:30 Way too accurate
My favorite is the F59PH and I would like to add the TRE paint scheme,But accurate. although I like almost every diesel from any era, with a few exceptions (that one CSX locomotive type from the 80s for example)
XD welp, kinda agree with most of these. i feel like steam locomotives should be next
I love the early E and F units, however I do go crazy for an old high hood gp or sd unit, but hoo boy i go insane for the freak experimental trains
It *would* be cool to see some of the styling from earlier diesels to come back, the sharknose is cool visually. That said, sad you didn't mention the MotivePower units used by GO Transit, those are cool (and american built)
They're definitely unique looking, even if quite underpowered compared to a Charger or F125. Not that anyone is actually trying to run diesels at 125mph in the US these days.
THE AT&SF 1460, IN 1991 BECAME MY OLDEST GRANDDAUGHTERS FAVORITE LOCOMOTIVE,
WITH HER BEING 5 YEAR OLD AT THE TIME!!
KEEP THEM ROLLING BROTHERS!!
👍👍
i like all of these, i am everything and nothing all at the same time
We just randomly have center cabs in PA. Idk why or how they got here but alot of them are here. We used to have one where I volunteer sometimes but it was so small we couldn't really use it for much
GE evolution series And SD60s Are awesome
Why yes, I am okay. And I do spend a lot of time at IRM. Ticket agent/carman/machinist. Incidentally, we just got a CNW SD50 last November. And got it to run in January.
the GP40 and F40PH one got me lol
There are several that I love, but above all diesels the Alco S6 and the whole SW series is my favorite. I just love their design. YEAH, I would rather work from home! The Plymouths are my second favorite. I actually do believe in tiny switcher diesel supremacy lol. GP9 hood units are my close 3rd... and yup, you can't go wrong with classic rock!
Dash-9s are my fourth favorite, and YES THE OG IS ALWAYS BETTER.
Gas Turbos are my 5th favorite... that one you got wrong, my bowels work superbly, thank you very much!
Four out of five, not bad!
Personally, I really like the SD90/43MACs and the C40-8Ms. They just look nice.
No BL-2 locos??? I know they're unreliable, but at least they're part of most GP30s
Yo BL-2 fan Club!
EMDs and GEs are so good bro
CNW/MKT rebuild Chads rise up 😎
The EMD SD9 have loved them since I was a young child in the early 70's
my favorites are the alcos emd-f7 and gp-9 and the sharknose
As a BP20 fan I didn't even make it on to your Radar, not that it comes as a surprise. It's probably just as well.
As an Sd70ace man, and a conductor, yes, as GE units SUCK for switching and ride like a Fordf150 with no shocks left
3:00 cool its the Southeastern railway museum in duluth i think.
For me the Sd70Ace just looks aggressive and Norfolk southern has a lot of them. I firmly an a Emd supremacist for the high hood Sd series.
As a big sd70ace fan i love the sound of them when they got them pulling a big train i already got 5 sd70ace on a train
I lived in Cheyenne for 30+ years, the sound of the SD70s is literally permanently burned into my brain haha. And all the fire and smoke shows on West Lincolnway
You should do (what your favorite American steam locomotive says about you)
2:58 its the shunter in my town that i never see because it doesn't exist anymore
That Utah railway picture at 1:15 was taken right outside my house lol
I’m not sure if I should be glad or worried that he didn’t put the FM Erie Builts on that list lol
Good stuff. Maybe do passenger trains next! (Amtrak and non-Amtrak)
The California Zephyr: You like to get up at 5 a.m. to get on a train to see some mountains. (And I can say for a fact that that's correct)
@@harrisonofcolorado8886 And you always know when lifts start spinning at Winter Park, right as the Zephyr comes out of the west portal. Assuming it's not delayed.
0:38 yes that's true
My favorites are GE GENESIS,F7s,RS3, AC44, DDA40X, SDP40F, E5, Rebuilt Baldwin's,F59PHIs,GMD-1,EMD GP9s and finally the 44 tonners
I love the Alco RS-32 and I’m not sure what that makes me. And yeah you’re right I only like Metrolink F59PHs and SD70ACes because they’re not GEvos
As an SD9 fan, i was listening to Kickstart my Heart before this, so its accurate
Yes love the SD40-2, GP-30, GP38, SD60M, 8-40CW, AC6000CW, the H-10-44, H-16-44, H-24-44 the RS-1, the GP15-1, the alco C420 ( gawd this is meme worthy in 2022) C424, C630, C636 and the GE44toners are practical and cute
im a sucker for the Canadian cab dash 9s and I don't know why 😩
I could go for a NS C40-9 right now. Oh wait there all rebuilt and not a single one left thanks NS for making some C6M’s
i like the shark noses because i have an HO scale one
Yes iam a guy that does love first , 2nd and maybe some 3rd gen power , and what the sweet hell is that c408.5w
Lol I love the SD80MAC but I classify under slamming into stuff like the SD45 lol
SD60F / M630W does look nice, but yeh it does suck to work in since they are beat to shit. although the C44-9WL would probably be my go to. downside is they are all order units so just suck to operate but for that the new citirail units are pretty nice for comfort (3rd seat is garbage) but at least run nicely.
What about the E7/8/9's, F3/9's, U23B's, Alco PA's, FA's, FL9's, B32-8's and BL2's?
Gotta love the good ol ge 30’s and ge36’s
1:03 well for me, not really, I just like this locomotive because its backstory, i saw the exact engine shown in person, if you want to see it, then its at the National Museum of Transportation in Missouri, all aero trains made are all on display and there lucky to be. I heard there's one in Roanoke VA and another in Green bay WI, but its my speculation.
GP38-2: you played far too much Microsoft Train Simulator as a kid. I've switched to Alcos since then.
You should do a video on Baldwin diesels.
as a european, safe to say i'm confused, another cowl unit productions banger
Completely agree with the genset.
My favorite loco has to be EMD Model 40. its small but good
my fav is the lima hamilton LS-1000
it just look good
Hey what about the British Railways class 59 and 66,both derived off of the SD40-2
3:07 NO WINDOWS!?!??!?!?!
I love this 😂
Your wrong about the ACe, I love it because my first model train it was the CSX SD70ACe 4845, I like it because of the looks and it has many heritage schemes!
My favs are the emd f units the ge 44 ton centercabs and the Baldwin sharks
I love AC4400CW's cuz they remiend me of 777 and 767 from Unstoppble and the SD40-2's
Is that diesel smoke sound, but I would never want to say a word!
nailed it
2:25 dont forget the go transit f59phs from canada
those are the best f59phs
I only like the F59PHI, and yeah it's the NorCal one. Also SC-44 by far my fave loco
I was waiting for an ALCO PA 😔
DO I KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT TRAINS? NOPE
IS THIS AMAZING? YES
Welcome.
I’m curious on what you’re gonna say on the Erie Builts
Black and orange striped Southern Pacific Alco S-2 fan here.
The 2 EMD SD70’s are the SD70 and the other is the SD70ACe.
