The parts about cleaning the horn are great. I would highly advise against adding key oil to the keys externally like is shown in this video. By the nature of the hinge tube and rod rubbing up against one another repeatedly you’re going to end up with gunk and metal debris on the inside of the hing tubes. When you add oil without fully cleaning the tube, rod and posts you end up reintroducing a lot of this debris into the hinge tube and will end up causing even more wear to the inside which will ultimately slow down your keys and could cause there to be excess wear to your saxophone. If you’d like to see how to properly clean a rod, hinge tube and posts I’d recommend checking out Matt Stohrer’s videos on sax repair.

Great thorough video. I first used an air sprayer and then an intense flashlight to look at my sax. I was unsure if I should have been holding it in my hands after the close up view (lol), but your video shows how to clearly clean the excess build up of "moisture" outside and how to oil the joints to definitely address the vibrating sounds and give better action. Thank you so much.

Cool Miles music…thanks for your demonstration. You may want to mix the music lower next time so the music doesn’t fight with you speaking.

Thank you for this video man but the great playing of "So What" in the background by Miles Davis and his team is making me not focus 😂😂😊😊.

Thanks so much for sharing. I have a Yahmaha YTS-32 tenor sax bought it second hand been playing it for a year now and I noticed that somewhere around my mid range B, Bflat and A keys as well the alternate keys to the back of the sax that are controlled with the right hand started to sound a bit clanky while I play faster than say 120bpm. I am fearly new to sax and want to maintain it as best I can. This video was very helpful. There is a store in my country that has the oil.

Your sax needed a service. If the old oil is not working it needs to be removed before adding fresh oil as it will be dirty and have partials in it. Otherwise you a creating a lapping compound.

Thanks for the info! It’s hard to hear the voice because of the music.

Is it ok to use any other machine oils such as 3-in-1oil? Label says that it is a multi-purpose oil that lubricates, penetrants rust and cleans. The bottle has its own spout.

Better to use a synthetic like that UltiMax oil he has, that way it doesn't leave residue inside the keys/post like the 3-1 does.

Is it safe to use singer oil ?? Its very thin machine oil used for sewing machines.

You typically want a thicker oil, here's a good video on "changing the oil" from a pro repair tech: ua-cam.com/video/Om88CsGd9jI/v-deo.html

its just an amature video, its just maintenance. I'm not claiming it to be better than a real repair tech methods. again its just for maintenance without unscrewing anything.
