Hi Music Medics, excelent info as always!!! In most cases I use all loosen type oil or similar mixed with W40, 50%+50% and a medium syringe, I also use graphite grease and smeared graphite on a strip of paper to move to the bushings, bolts and springs. In these cases, I use a black school pencil HB - B or 2B. The result has been even better for me than oils and fats, both lithium and other kinds. I use graphite too with the sticky pads a black school graphite pencil grade HB or B, blotted on a strip of office paper type A4 or similar (with a width similar to the width of the pad), place the blotted tip of the strip between the tone hole and the pad, lightly squeeze both surfaces and move the strip to the sides and out as you remove it. Your pads won't stick for a while. Don't use colored pencils; because they are greasy and will stick your pads even more, neither charcoal nor lithographic type. Use, for example: brands such as Faber Castell, Artesco, Lyra, Staedtler Noris HB or B. Do not use numbers below HB to blur on the paper and less those that are H1, up to H6. They should be normal to soft graphite. Blur the tip of the strip profusely on both sides of the size similar to the diameter of the pad.

When disassembling your horn to clean and oil, what do you recommend to use on your pads to remove sticky residue?

Sorry I forgot to say first that you can clean the pad first and to remove sticky residue with a clean cloth dampened with lighter fluid or benzine.

Try the Pad Magic as a treatment for stickiness, it won't work to clean but will reduce the stickiness, especially when applied to a dry pad. Usually when we're at the point of putting a solvent on the pad to clean it we just change the pad, sometimes it's just far easier to change it out.

< I bought a Paul- Mauriat Tenor (new) from a widow friend. It is NEW. It is tight as any teenager!¡! ....but it´s hard-to-trot ( responsivewise I mean...). This things has the STICKiEST pads!¡! But it´s SO tight¡ The other day I came up with my forgotten Yamaha 23, lost in the desert sands of my house. This Sax is from 40's,50´s, someone told me they were cherished in those days. I dusted it a bit and engaged!... Oh Man, in My Days THEY were most beTTer made!¡! I´m not sure if it sounds more than his big broder YTS82-Z.> This is a nice place¡> I´ll let you have the Chinnessse Paul
    any time !¡!>

A little pad magic on that on PMT will help to keep them from sticking! www.musicmedic.com/catalog/product/view/id/44929/s/padmagic/category/289/
