Bought the starter and essential set in June, wanted to play it but didn't have nobody to play with(family lost interest fairrrly quickly... ya, i get it, I suck at DM even though it's my first time, but they're also busy with work so kinda understandable) so it's been collecting dust, and me eventually losing interest because I had no one to play with. I only really knew what was gonna happen up until cragmaw castle so im currently trying to get the whole story under control and make it seem like knew what i was doing all along. It's been going pretty well so far. The party killed the first 4 goblins no sweat but then we spent WAY too long on cragmaw castle. They killed Klarg in 2 rounds without him getting to even move. Then they gave his head to Yeemik but when he also wanted money they killed him. Sildar died too though. Then they got really sad when they heard Sildar could have been a partymember. When they came to phandalin they talked with a lot of NPCs and then they eventually approached the redbrands but after killing 4 they decided they didn't actually wanna infiltrate the base so they just did like 4 sidequests before they FINALLY wanted to go infiltrate redbrand hideout. So this is where im at now. Trying to figure out what comes after.

But ya Ogre the first time… he’s imprinted in a cliff wall, arfter he insulted the Ogre while stabbing it, he did not know before it could understand common, he learnt this the hard way when the ogre rolled a nat 20. Next session he tried to take on 3 Orcs… he did hit one for max damage (first attack) then was promptly beaten to death saves by two of the Orcs. Only reason he’s still around is cause the buff Dragonborn (who during the Orc attack took on a oger by themselves and won) keeps on healing him when he’s down if possible and if possible before hand. Anyway that’s why I gave my bard player gained the tough feat.
I’m running Lost Mines now, party has kind of keystone cops their way through everything, one member hasn’t met a group he doesn’t want to join... is currently a Harper thanks to the Agatha banshee mission, Zhent thanks to elimination of glasstaff (who was eliminated by of course, joining the Redbrand gang) and a dragon cultist. Our half-orc barbarian is the son of Brughor Axe-Biter, who is trying to follow the Many Arrows creed and form alliances in the region. The Many Arrows defeated the Cragmaw clan and have formed an alliance with Phandalin which has fallen to Zhent control after the assassination of Harbin Wester and Sildar Halwinter. The black spider has discovered the secret location of the lost mine and has moved in while the party is now determined to fight a combined former Redbrand company that have joined the Zhentarim and now are officially the town guard of Phandalin and the orcs formerly of Wyvren Tor. The party has split, the half Orc barbarian and Paladin have sided with the town, the elf rogue, tiefling sorcerer, human fighter/rogue and gnome artificer have murdered 2 guards and four orcs and are currently holed up in a rope-trick extra dimensional space short resting as the town prepares to bring them to justice. Thank. You. Very well done, and useful
I love this!
thank you!
I dress up as one of them and being a warlock I thought I could trick them, other warlock used burning hands.
So the other warlock did not try to deceive and instead went for the burn the problems away approach?
@@GreenDM no, we failed our rolls and the paladin was trying to do a flip so we started blasting. There was a third warlock hiding and the glass mage almost killed me with magic missile. This was in highschool.
phandelver and below next please! :)
I did a game where no one wanted to follow the goblin trail, instead went straight for the town
Did they want to shop or like hang out in the tavern?
@@GreenDM two of the party went into the tavern, the other two (a fighter and Wizard) got harassed by some drunks at the front of it. They chose to pick a fight with the drunks..and lost ☠️ 😆
gus johnson!! love imbiamba
Hell yeah! Boys support boys!
I'm running my first campaign with this in a month. How long should I suggest to run this ?
It took my group about 10 sessions to finish this, but that included a session or two of improvised content. Depending on how fast your group follows leads/clues and digs through combats, could be 8. Or could be more if they go off in a direction the adventure doesn't prepare for.
I'd tell your group roughly ten sessions, but if each session is 3-4 hours.
Hey man imbiamba jones is not an introverted indiana jones ... he is naht!
You've convinced me. Imbiamba is now the Chad version of Indiana.
The part about making characters roll so I have a second for parts I didn't prepare just resonated with me too hard
Amazing
Thank you! These modules are wild when boiled down.
@@GreenDM Haha hundred percent. I am about to run it on friday for a group of friends that didn't play D&D before and I am nervous (dm'd only twice) so it really helped me get a better understanding of the things to expect.
Can you do one for Dragon Heist?
@@SilverStarGG I have two modules in the process of being made already, but I'll put dragon heist third in line! Hopefully that video will be made before you need it!
And good luck dming! If you need a baseline understanding of mechanics, there's a great animated series going through them here: ua-cam.com/play/PLJmFJXf3BXjwXkNFo_-iwtHb24AuJcXqx.html
"Four-pronged murder noodle" 😂😂
Players will come over in 9 min. That will do !!!
Good luck! I hope the first session went well!
@@GreenDM It went wonderful. Thanks a lot !!!
@@GreenDM the fun thing is I literaly googled 'Phandelver explained 5 minutes"
That's great! Hope the rest of the sessions go well too!

we're about to kick Black Spider's ass, the best time to learn what am I even DMing lol
420th sub I'm cool now
I screen capped 420 subs to share with friends! Thanks for being willing to get the channel to such a dank number!
Ok you got the laughs 😂
Yes! I seek the laughs!
descent into avernus?
I want to do all the adventurers, but I've preplanned two other adventures already. Hopefully I can get through the backlog and make an Avernus one soon!
ah right, a redbrand /runs away/
/aggressively chases after/
Yeah they all died on the spot 'cuz of my players I'll be honest lmao
Most people do not survive contact the player characters. Hope they still found a way to that manor!
@@GreenDM Oh yeah they did, thanks to good 'ol "coincidentally placed note in dead enemy's pocket"
that diversity and inclusion training line cought me off guard...
😄 Even adventures have to reflect on their assumptions and biases. How else will they get enough people to fight against the dragon?!
@@GreenDM and the first round is the party just telling the dragon their preferred pronouns
@no chance you could probably call those out as a free action in every combat. Just have a fighter shouting "He/him/his, as in he will be killing you, you will be defeated by him, and your treasure will be his!" to start every fight.
@@GreenDM could using the wrong pronouns be counted as a Vicious Mockery?
For those who have never learned to read, this is a great video. For the stupid people, watch it twice.
ROFL the accuracy.
this was hilarious
Thank you!
I Love it
Lost mines of phandelver = undead
Undead = paladin dream
Undead? That's a divine smitin'!
please tell where'd you get those photos
which ones?
I got the starterset and just want to play with my kids to get them away from the tablets and phones.
Never ever did any D&D before so im looking for a how to play this video......ended up just laughing my a** off at this video
Didn't prepare anything.....didn't read the book....this video is me
No prep needed lol
How do download the map
Watching this video again made me realise that my friends are almost definitely going to start a communist revolution. Im so fucked
Seize the means of production!
or you have ADHD and reading is practically impossible. Thank you for the video!
Reading has many barriers. You are welcome for the video!
LIGHTNING STUMP LMAO
I did do the location dirty there, not gunna lie 😂
Great video. I'm just not a fan of this campaign. Kinda bland
I think WOTC didn't want to overwhelm new players with a bunch of super fantastical stuff, but yeah some cooler monsters, situations, and NPCs could have been thrown in to really hook people into what is possible with the system.
Check
The OSRS players lmao 😂
Haha
Pls halp

As someone genuinely interested in trying to run my first D&D game, I really wish this was a straight forward explanation, instead of a comedic bit.
There are dozens of versions of this adventure as an actual walk through.
Here is a well recommended one that is very in-depth.
ua-cam.com/video/SW97PDPb3fo/v-deo.html
@@GreenDM yeah, I saw that one, thanks for the link tho. At the time I posted my comment, I was looking for a quick video (3-5 minutes) that gave an over all explanation of what the Phandelver campaign was (to see if that was something I wanted to go with). But all the short videos all seem to be filled with jokes and pop culture references. Which is fine and all, just not what I was wanting to see. Yours just happened to be like the 4th or 5th and I was annoyed at that moment.
