    I live in Nanaimo, British Columbia where there are lots of hills. I don't have a car and buy a lot of groceries. This would be great for travelling from home to the mall to get the things I need without using the transit bus.

    I like the spacey trunk too which replaces a bike trailer.

    Thank you TechCrunch and Jordan. Could we get an update? These guys have GOT to be about ready to start rolling off the assembly line. How about an in-depth review?

    You somehow missed that it has an electric motor, so you don't have to peddle, even though you can. You somehow missed that it blocks the precip and wind. You somehow missed that the aeodynamics translates into less peddling effort, or faster speed, your choice. You somehow missed that the danger of falling is reduced, since this is a trike, and the danger of a collision is reduced. since you are surrounded by a body. OTOH you CAN save money using a plain bike.

    They keep saying that this is a bicycle and can go on the roads without registration and is allowed on bicycle paths. I don't know if there's enough of these that the police have started writing tickets, but not all states consider these to be bicycles and even if they did, many bicycle paths prohibit motor vehicles. I don't expect to see these laws changed. Though I like the concept of the ELF, I don't want to see it on a narrow hike/bike trail.

      +Timothy Fish as long as your peddling, like using the electric assist motor you will be fine.

    • @popeyegordon
      @popeyegordon 7 років тому

      Federal law defines this as an electric assist bicycle, literally. By legal definition, electric assist bikes are not motor vehicles. Otherwise, electric wheelchairs would be banned from trails.

    I guess its a cool idea, but why not just get a bike? I mean, you still have to pedal the thing, right?? Or am I missing something?

    I'd say within the next 5 yrs they may want to think about opening some dealerships around the country because these are gonna become so popular they may have to think like Detroit.

    Take it out on the streets around Central Park and NYPD would be all over you. City Hall doesn't like electric bikes and they remain technically illegal in all of New York State.
    It's too long and wide. Can't park it like a bicycle on the sidewalk. You'll need to take up a regular parking space, which are in short supply and taking one will piss off drivers. Likewise, drivers will be very angry with you on any street without a bike lane so this wide vehicle has to take up an entire lane, which is most NYC streets. Even worse on Manhattan east-west streets where there's only a single lane for traffic.

      Thank god I don't live there anymore! I live in San Francisco now and I've seen these all over the city (except on the deathly tall hills). West Coast is more advanced in our ability to love the planet we live on. New Yorkers don't even know what recycle means nor compost. West Coast = BEST Coast!

      NY is a shit hole repository of redundant humanity who have no self respect and deprive themselves of nature.

      Yeah, right. This from people who refer to a highway as a "freeway," a flea market as a "swap meet," and say "hella" instead of "very." (Keep in mind that, as a New Yorker who now lives in Las Vegas, I say this stuff in fun.)

      The last time I checked there's 2 motor options. One with a 14 mile range & one with a 45 mile range.

    • @popeyegordon
      @popeyegordon 7 років тому

      No, that is battery, not motor options. It is now 20 miles per battery with no sunshine and no pedaling, both of which greatly extend range.

      It never sold for that little. The materials alone cost $2,600 wholesale. Factory buildings, tooling, molds and labor are not free. It is now $7000 base price and a competitor sells one for a similar price.

    $4,000... That's the price of a basic motorcycle. Price is way too expensive! I'm not looking to spend 4k on a souped up bike.
