    It's the price for it.
QUADVELO in 2021 costs around 10500€.
Plastic shape and electric motor + batteries are very expensive.
The only one which is cheaper is the German LEIBA CLASSIC L.

I sold my almost new Honda for 14k, and bought 5k worth of ever realiable 20 years old lexus. Then i bought used but excellent condition Elf transit for 5k. Now here is math, my car insurance come down from 110 permonth to 35 per month. My gas price come down monthly 80 bucks to mere 40. I only use lexus for long drive where i need to take freeway, and use my ELF for shorter distance mostly grocery shopping. Most important benefit is that now i lost almost 10 pounds. Elf is much visible that riding on street is very safe. There is no 100% safety on this earth. Everybody has to die one day anyway.

What mechanism did they use for the direction of the vehicle? Connecting rods, pulleys...?

i disagree, your two wheel bicycle is not stable at all if you go off a curb or hit a pot hole or when you fall off your bike when your not even cycling and you hit the pavement you will split your head open break a hip elbow fracture etc.. yes bicycles are vey narrow and can squeeze through tighter spaces but one fall or hit a pebble goodnight irene! this on the other hand is super stable!

@ $8,500 bucks, Sorry, I'd rather buy an actual car or just keep my bike...It's "WAY" to expensive to actually feel like you're having any fun, And it's just not enough vehicle to justify the price tag...And in a society that get's around in cars, These will not be popular in most major cities. Too slow, minimal safety features, and if you get side swiped, you can kiss your butt goodbye!..I don't even think I saw a seat belt anywhere? If the price dropped significantly and it were in the bicycle districts in the Asian countries where bikes are a significant form of transportation, I don't see this company doing too well.

5,495$ is the actual price (seen it on their website)

Yea, Without any options..Bare bones version...Add any extra's or go for a better built model and the price skyrockets..Even at $5,500. It's still way too much money..I could build a simple frame, slap 4 tires on it and use a power wheel's battery and get the same result for $100-200 bucks..

Steve I have looked through many many alternatives. if it was way too expensive then why are ALL the similar alternatives priced the same or higher? See the Sun-E Trike for example

I took a peek at those Sun-E Trikes, and good god those things are ugly! You've def got them beat in the style department. It just seems like an awful lot of money for something that someone with a mediocre amount of engineering knowledge and a shed could piece together for a quarter of the price. When my $100 bike has shocks and the $8500 seemingly doesn't. What's to make someone purchasing an ELF feel like they're getting a good investment @ $8,500? With time, a better design, more efficient batteries and a generation of drivers with more respect for other people on the road, then this idea may catch on. Check out the the market in the twin cities. They're really into the green scene and alternative ways of transportation, biking, hiking, and healthy lifestyles..

I got rid of my car, my ELF saves me $3000/yr compared to car ownership. This figure would be double if you like to drive newer cars with depreciation. In three years my ELF has fully paid for itself and that is only the financial factor. I also have got a lot of exercise that can not be had in any car and I stopped polluting.
