Slime v Blur was the best set I've seen in a while. Pros being invested in a couple of 0-2er's games led to some great, great moments. Shoutout to Mang0 for being a scrub at heart. Anytime they started to panic, Mang0 knew exactly the shitty hail Mary option that they'd go for 😂
For real such a great set because seeing two people who are better than average but also way below the actual competitors makes it so much easier to follow. Everyone being that invested was definitely funny though
I love that Zain and Cody warmed up together before the FT10. Usually players want to hide what they got but these guys non stop are giving it their all. In my opinion, the 2 highest skilled melee players the game has ever seen.
@@hyperionf6357 I get what you mean about it being more intense, when the game starts there is more adaption you need to do / some tricks the opponent might have you don’t know about. But I think the mentality these two have is so admirable, they aren’t trying to rely on tricks or the other person not being warmed up, they are trying to outplay each other by having the highest peak skill and consistency. It’s so cool lol
Yeah, not playing together does give a slight surprise to the field, but having them warming up together lets them both know exactly what to expect from each other. In the mental game, it’s far more exciting seeing what they’ll do in their multi multi multi level mental micro situations.
Not really, if you understand how sponsorship works. If he has the ability to pull in serious money for the orgs, through merch sales or whatever, they would be all over him. But he doesn't.
@@arkain1 He's just looking to get into a bigger org. Cody could easily get on a mid tier org, but is clearly holding on to getting a decent contract with a larger org. I mean, Kodorin and Jmook are on Flyquest and I'm sure they're not selling any merch and raking in money lol
@@davedanger4414 very little money to be made in Melee overall, most top players income are not coming from sponsors and tournament winnings. Its coming from ad revenue, youtube content and twitch subs, all which you can do independently.

What a beautiful set of Melee, and it couldn't have come at a better time considering the state of e-Sports. Much respect to Zain and Cody for bringing it this year, and lots of thanks to Ludwig for being generous to burn a huge pile of cnotes on the altar that is Smash.
Cody will forever go down as possibly the best fox player of all time. Cody honestly is one of my biggest influences and the reason I still want to play melee competitively. Because if the best player in the world isnt signed to an org, anyone can be the #1 player of melee.

Great stream and event, very fun watch. Im still confused why Ludwig didnt play his main Puff. Even if shes different on Ultimate he still is a floaty player
@@123IOWNALL321 That's not what they're talking about. They're talking about how after the match, Mango said that Cody is now #1, and he's now one of 6 players who have been #1. They said Ken, Mango, Hungrybox, Armada, and Zain. They completely forgot Mew2King who was ranked #1 in 2007 and 2008 (though 2008 should've been Mango's). This means Cody is actually one of 7 players who has been ranked #1. When this was happening, some people in chat said that this was Mew2King erasure
2 of my favorite players going at it. Shoutout to cody for winning 10 to 7. I knew he would be number one before the year ended he is to hungry and is playing disgusting. Zain needs to wake up faster in his play style but now he should be hungry to get the number one spot back next year but we will see.
The Zain Cody set is pretty convincing proof of 20XX. When Fox is played optimally (if a little boringly), he has no losing matchups, period. Fox’s ability to survive and QUICKLY kill makes him unbeatable at the highest levels of play. Honestly the slow realisation that one character completely dominates the entire melee cast is a bit sad; takes some of the variety out of the game imo.
Although I do think Fox is the best character in the game, this is the first time a solo Fox is number one. Marth has been number one for the last couple of years and with Ken as well, and prior puff was number one for a couple of years. So I think it’s a bit premature to be deciding something like that when Fox has barely just done it
I wouldn't say washed, but he definitely choked in the first half. Took him a while to get going and when he did Cody took a timeout and cleaned up But yeah he did play sloppy for the most part I was disappointed it didn't go to a 9-9 but he still held his own
