I’ve been wanting to buy the soil, except for the particle size. That pumice is huge! I haven’t seen how the particle size is for the shohin bag. I was also trying to ask if this soil would be good for development or refinement, but no answer yet. I support the bonsai supply for everything they do! Especially the educational purposes!

I'm l big Jade fan, basically the only plant I can keep alive. Last winter was my first winter and every outdoor plant died. I'm just south of you Temp wise so pretty damn cold. I must have 21 jades going at the office in my cube. Surprised management hasn't thrown a wrench in the mix.

Nice, thick cutting you've got there. I've had my little jades for a long time, they are very slow to thicken. I used to get seasonal allergies so bad I could hardly speak and would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air. A friend finally talked me into trying to use raw, local honey every day. I always thought of that as an old wives tale. 2 tablespoons every morning for the past 5-6 years. Barely a sniffle.

Wow! That is a cutting! Now you know that you don´t need to overthink position when planting if you put the tree in the middle of a round pot :). Ohh, do not water a jade cutting until at least 2 weeks after potting. They rot easily when they don't have roots. All the water they need is in the leaves. I tend to wait with first watering until leaves are shivering and dropping. Great vid as always.

@@BlueJayBonsai Not from a practical or functional standpoint but asthetically. The jade doesn't have much nebari so when I envision it as a massive tree in the size of pot you're using, it causes me to think it's a massive tree on the verge of toppling over. It's just how my mind's eye interprets it--by no means am I saying others would experience the same as me.

It looks like is has spent too much time looking at the sun from one direction. I would have the fat trunk pointing towards the light to encourage growth that side so it’s more balanced. When just looking at the trunks, having the big trunk to the front is definitely the best (well, in my opinion anyway). It’s going to be a beauty of a tree once the foliage is balanced.

20 L (same as 20Q) of bonsai soil for 70$ is hella expensive though.
For reference, I can get (here in Spain) a 20L bag of each of the 4 ingredients for around 10€, so you could get 80L of the same soil for just 40€. Also it looks like it has a really big particle size, not good for small/medium trees.
