Incredible interview. One of if not the most genius CEOs in the world. He doesn't get involved in BS politics, he just strives to make the world a better place for everyone. This man should be the President of the United States. He would make a difference.
Wow, what an ending to that interview. Seriously, awesome.
The fact this only has 40k views and it’s 11 years old should make us sad. After reading American Icon by Bryce Hoffman - about Mr. Mullaly, he’s quickly become one of favorite human beings.
I am grateful & inspired to have researched Alan Mulally for my MS Organizational Leadership program. My former classmate & fellow physics major went on to become an astronaut. I became a Senior Systems Engineer who supported NASA's Spritzer's Infrared Array Camera development, & previously was totally enamoured with aircraft while briefly working for US-Air, flying & working onboard the 727, 737 & Fokker 4000 as a flight attendant. I've only owned 1 Ford, but will definitely consider another one!
Great interview, interesting to know he had a life plan on how to contribute to the world at such a young age, also how tapping into the desire of others to make a difference...
..
Thanks TheVerge!
Thank you for posting "Interview with Ford CEO Alan Mulally."
Amazing interview. Alan Mulally, you just sold me on taking a hard look at ford for my next vehicle .
Ironic because he drove a Lexus
I finally watched the interview. Great job guys.
last question took me by surprise... gr8!!
Great job Verge, awesome interview. Mr. Mulally is awesome.
Great interview. Alan Mulally is really interesting guy.
Great interview!!.. awesome..
Man I love the Verge!
great questioning Josh !! definitely worth the watch.
Now that was a really good interview with really good people!
If only all CEOs where like this
Good interview!
Great interview. Recently read American Icon - worth a read for anyone interested. Goes over the points made in the interview really well. This interview is also ahead of its time - some great connections with battery tech and future mobility. Although I still can’t see hydrogen taking off.
I hate softball interviews with CEOs but this one wasn't so bad. Still very political and not very challenging but Alan actually gave some real answers.
fantastic.
Hydrogen is ambitious but I think the industry should be pushing for natural gas. There is a natural gas boom in the US right now and it needs to explored deeper. It's efficient and burns clean.
How about biogas? imagine you could go to the grocery shop and back on one fart
They wanted Goshen (NIssan), but he wanted the world and more. Mullaly was on the short list anyway. When Goshen fell through (looks like it was good for Ford), Mullaly got the call. He actually declined the offer the first time around. Read the book Ford - An American Icon. It goes into pretty deep detail on this.
Josh is looking slick as hell.
Nice job, Josh.
Please consider requesting an interview with Daniel F. Akerson, GM is also doing very interesting stuff.
great
Less interruptions :)
Josh's interview was of high quality, his questions were meaningful and interesting, whereas Mr. Mulally almost made me sleep in the end.
VHS is in the mail for Paul.
Hydro Fuel Cell is what we need
A Chevy commercial on a video about Ford
Based.
@Alan Mulally, how are you going to compete with Toyota, Honda, and Tesla?
he left the company in 2014
3:57 It saddens me that among the things he listed as the things customers care about, "fun" was not one of them when it comes to cars.
actually I find it pretty annoying if somebody keeps saying my name like that. as if they are going to lie to me and they are begging me to believe what they say
fourth
So why aren't we seeing cars with wings on streets yet? Just kidding. I wonder what got Ford to call Mulally to come over to Ford.
softball.
Hydrogen in 10 evn 20 years? BS.
