There's no market for the super expensive houses here either. I’m surprised that they didn’t mention how the Biltmore House was extremely advanced for the era of its construction by having an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley, etc.. Why build a house to withstand earthquakes and an F5 tornado/hurricane? The New Madrid fault can cause huge damage. Hurricanes and tornadoes can turn straw into spears. So, check out some of the disaster videos to see what dear Mother Nature can do.
That "$500 million" house in California initially listed for $250m (I have no idea where they got $500m from) and sold in 2019 for "only" $94m. Some other information and pictures in the video they watched seemed off/incorrect too.
I know this is late, but the creator of the video confused two different houses. He included a bit of video of both, but most of it was of the $250m house that sits in the hillside in Bel Air. THE ONE sits on top of a hill in Bel Air and was put on the market for $500m. Surprised more people in the comments didn't notice.
This is funny. I was just looking at properties near me and I came over to UA-cam and this video is here waiting. I am not able to buy anything right now, but I like to look around now and then. I've been to Biltmore in North Carolina several times. It is basically a French chateau in the Blue Ridge Mountains. During the Gilded Age, America's ultra-rich aspired to European classism and tried to buy their way into the nobility in Britain and elsewhere through marrying their daughters off to earls and dukes. This kind of building was meant to show that they were worthy and could, you know, be helpful in the financial department for land-poor nobility.
