Steely Dan has a HUGE catalog of amazing compositions! One of the few bands considered the "musicians' musicians". Amazing melodies and song structures!!!

Steely Dan is top tier! Without question their catalog would keep me happy if stranded on a desert island. Just a few of my favorites that I believe you'll enjoy: Rikki Don't Lose That Number Deacon Blues Babylon Sisters Aja Black Cow Josie Any Major Dude Hey Nineteen Pretzel Logic Don't Take Me Alive Night by Night Peg Kid Charlemagne There are dozens more. As someone else said, just throw a dart at a list of Steely Dan songs and you'll be impressed with whatever it hits. ❤
I come from a large family and we all have varying taste in music. Steely Dan is one group we can all agree on. I have seen them in concert at least 10 times. Love every song.
This band has been my favorite band since 1973 when I first saw them as an opening band for The Guess Who, in Chicago. The music always sounds current. You have a long trip down the Dan road ~ Enjoy ~ ~ ~
The best part was having the radio on all. The. Time. At home..in the car at work… just in case they’d play your fave song and while waiting all the rest of the music was great too.
Two other excellent tracks from the same album ('Can't Buy a Thrill'): "Do It Again" and "Only a Fool Would Say That," with the latter track purported to be about John Lennon and his song, "Imagine."
Talk about this album being a killer, it's just their first album. Each album became more complex, sophisticated and more funky. I'd suggest checking out the song, Black Cow, to give you an idea where they were heading to. Great great band~
The one song from Steely Dan, that sounds nothing like Stealy Dan's normal sound. It's one of their earliest songs. About a guy that is a Gigolo who comes to this gal's house to service with sex, while her Husband is out of town, and he doesn't want to do it anymore. An excellent song about the fellow they call a "Backdoor Man." That term has been around for a very long time.
When having a party,, bbq,, get together,, & all different people/ages,,, etc. & You don't know what music to play,, Just play Steely Dan & There will be no complaints.

I was a little kid when Do It Again was on the radio constantly. It's woven into the very fabric of my childhood.
This is off their first album when they had two lead singers Donald Fagen and on this song David Palmer.

Every album is a killer. It is very hard to pick a SD favorite album. I tend to favor Countdown, just for Gold Teeth 1 and King of the World.😊

Don’t get too tied up in their lyrics, as some of them are quite cryptic. The groove and the instrumentation are paramount.
