  • In this video I show how to go from a missing window screen to building one in just a few easy steps. I got the screen material the frame and all the parts from my local Lowes. Home Depot and many other hardware stores should have all the parts you need to accomplish this.

Rudy, thanks again this is a great instructional. I think you're costing me money though (not really, most homeowners are too lazy to do this kind of work themselves, so they hire us). The groove is for the rubber spline the other side was for when people used to use metal mesh screens vs. fiberglass (just had to add my two cents).

Ok cool! Thanks for the tip. The metal mesh was before my time (as a repair guy), but I seem to remember it back in the day...

@@TheHomeImprovementChannel Rudy, that just goes to show you that I'm a geezer. Yea, the repairman would have to measure out the metal screening, use the solid side of the wheel to push it into the groove and then put the spline in using the grooved side of the wheel. The metal screening decreases the size of the spline (in case any of your customers really want the aluminum screening), so be aware. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for your content.

This looks easy when you do it! It's nice that you don't have to miter the corners. I may have to give this a try. My old house came with terrible old screens that had two sections that were like a sliding window idea so they overlap to help place them and then stretch them apart into place. That just left gaps for flies to get through. The one piece unit you made is slick! Thanks for showing this!

Great to hear! I got all the parts from my local Lowes... I'm sure most hardware stores will have all the parts... I checked Amazon and it wasn't a good place to get the frame parts... Probably because of shipping would be difficult.
