In recent days, I have noticed more people clicking & buying things using Amazon affiliate links in the video description. I wanted to say thank you very much to any and all of you who chose to show us that support. Thank you very much. It is noticed, and appreciated. Thank you!
Louis Rossmann just got a multimeter yesterday. Should arrive tomorrow. Hopefully you got the kickback for that because I added it to my wishlist from your description!
Louis Rossmann can you give your thoughts on the that Samsung galaxy s10e
It's probably because of the recent change of management to BlackBerry. Cats sell and increase profit margins by more than 200%.
@@dank_the_gecko4143 Sure. It's a mass produced phone and as such, could be subject to failure. :P
Amazon is a lesser and more necessary evil than apple unfortunately
"So we're going to try and find the short circuit using alcohol."
Drinks a bottle of whiskey and proceeds to lick the board.
Drinks a bottle of whiskey then licks board with it still plugged into power 😂
Still the best computer fault and repair channel on the tube.
"Alcohol Trick" is by far one of the coolest things I've seen on You Tube in a long time!
clever and super effective!
Since we've seen recently shorts can cause fires i'm not sure pouring flammable liquid all over your desk is the best way to find shorts...
Thank you for graciously sharing your knowledge and bolstering the right to repair movement. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar !
Its old, but reliable, and easily repaired, Ilove the 1278's. still running one today as a daily driver.
I have no knowledge of this type of repair nor do I have any intentions of taking up repairing computers but I love watching what you do. It is like a detective story... where is the culprit, find the culprit then wipe out the culprit and install a new king. Keep up the good work...
Does Louis speak in a sarcastic tone 24 hours a day?
youtert , like that F-That quick fade .5 second he thru in there
@@Ipadstands Say what??
That's what fixing Macbooks for 16 hours a day does to you.
youtert , replay between 3:10 and 3:16 , his inside humor edit is quick
I have never glimpsed sarcasm from the world's best fixer, his humor is limited to calling people who make his work more difficult awful names, and that is the limit of his sarcasm, like, "I fixit", "genius bar", or "jesse jones".
My new favorite channel in the 2021!
My brother from another mother. Thanks for the help!
I keep telling that alcohol is part of profession, but wife doesn't buy it.
one thing I'm learning from this channel, MacBooks seem to short to ground a lot. I have a HP from 2008, a gateway from 2010, and MSI from 2013, they're all still serviceable with the latter two still in use
Well, that actually is what those components are suppose to do in the event of some sort of failure. Well, the resistors and capacitors anyways.
Thanks for the videos Louis, this one helped me troubleshoot a short on PP5V_S3 on this model this evening. Appreciate what you do.
A silver sharpie mark on the fan would be fun to be able to see the fan spin.
You can see it spinning as it is.
@@Eingefallen I understand what you are saying. However, I have seen Louis write stuff on the board with a soldering iron.
"Unprofessional? No... this would be unprofessional!" *writes* "Hi my name is Paul =)"
I have the same laptop on my bench, no IR cam, an the same exact symptom.Love the alcohol 'trick'!
If/when I have a problem I’d go to this guy.
Happy little chips... Great insomnia treatment. Thanks
Fitter, happier, more productive :)
First time seeing your video, you rock dude.
Very cool, just tried to install a replacement board for one of these into a MBP 2009, nothing, no fan, nothing! Thanks!!!
Awesome, another great vid and that humor is so on point. Thanks
Huge fan of your videos
I have used my brain, and that is why I avoid MacBooks. And watch your stuff.
remember the days when no one had apples? now everyone does so when a few % of them die, apple is the bad guy. LOL. that stupid Apple Capacitor. how dare it
The way he says "Macbook" always make me smile
As someone not very educated in electirical repairs, 3:30 made me open my eyes wide.
R A N D O M
r A n D o M
6:33 remember this moment people as this was the first sign that fixing Mac Books is turning Louis into a monster/killer that you would see in horror movies.
Can't believe it was a cap! Would have never suspected that.
Thought for sure it would be a fuse!
Oh wait, it's a MacBook, nevermind...
You make macbooks great again! :)
I just removed the little circuit piece and it fixed my computer I never put another one back on. Everything seems to be working fine
Another of life's problems solved with alcohol 😋
Is there a 21 step repair program as well??
No, it's only 12 steps lol
Cool new logo 👍
Watching you work makes me realize I don't know shit about boards! Still I watch, hopefully retaining just a fraction of your knowledge.
Long time lurker, you got a sub this week! Your presentation style and storytelling has improved greatly!! Even with your rant!
Louis if anytime u plan to come to India, do visit me in Goa! Ur my guest !
God bless Rosmann
Oh wow, I need to try to use that on my desktop motherboard. Something killed it and I haven't been able to figure out what!
New sub bro keep it up from 🇵🇭
Electric genius! ty
I have the same problem, but it is not that capacitor, I keep looking. Thanks for the video
I have an A1278 Macbook Mid 2012 Core i5. Old owner used it with a janky power supply and it always felt like the body was sometimes stingy like minute electric shocks while plugged in. Of course after some days my audio failed, no output devices showed up in system information, and now the macbook does not turn on, and sometimes it does by itself if I leave the lid open, boots up all the way to the login page and then powers off. I'm very confused, the Magsafe shows green light and the battery indicator shows the battery is fully charged. The battery was already over a 1000 cycles so that's that.
Louis, I am have the same A1278 and 820-3114B board. I have power, green charger light, full battery; on power button press the fan momentarily jerks and white light on front right lower edge lights briefly. I have tried various changes i. e. Removing ram, disconnecting HD, disconnecting the battery, disconnecting the fan, tried all the reset routines etc but on pressing power button the same thing happens. It does this on bat and on charger. Now stuck in Colombia on lock down without a laptop. Whatever happened, happened after I closed up the laptop for the night, just wouldn't start the next morning. Clues? Advice? Thanks!
Thanks I just got a call from someone about this very machine
I'm referring them to you bwahahaha
Hi mate , firstly really detailed explanations 👍👍. I have the same board , probability same prob , fans starts spinning then turns off always the same loop , and does not turn on either . Possible to repair it please ?
do you have a course on how to fix MacBook?
That's a lot of circuitry and board full of components just to spin a fan lol 😂😂
Thanks sir
Hey were is the FREE HELP FORUMS tab ? :)
LOOK AT THAT FAN SPIN!
I had the same issue. I accidentally knocked off c6213 and my machine instantly booted up and works fine. I was surprised because I thought for sure I had broke it worse. Can the machine stay running good without this cap?
Hi Louis. Its a great video. What if the MBP hooked up with magsafe without battery and it has green light but not turning on. Whats the problem?
Gata love the pp-bus!
Hi louis, how about after fan spins and no chimes come out?
Hi.... can you organize an course... thanks a lot
the human operator(fixer) is ancient, of days, not an almost new Macbook, probably not even school age yet. And the help from the crowd of humans watching were so astute, they could see at a glance, which component was bad, with just a glance at the alcohol douche, troubleshooting and savior of mankind strategy.
Hi, can I use 91% alcohol?
what wizardry is this ..i just watched a man bring a mac back from the dead ..😎
Hey my macbook pro 13inch a1708 running ok but it's not charting battery and there is no battery or can't detect??? After water damaged i have cleaned with alcohol
I have the same behaviour, Mine will turn on when plugging in the MAgSAfe due to the Auto On feature but I get nothing from when pressing the power button, cant even turn it off by holding the button down. is it the button that's faulty?
You can use iPhone thermal camera mobule which in Amazon
m.alibaba.com/premium/thermal_camera.html?src=sem_ggl&cmpgn=964403036&adgrp=53814795091&fditm=&tgt=aud-362622410597:kwd-489485626552&locintrst=&locphyscl=9040231&mtchtyp=p&ntwrk=g&device=m&dvcmdl=&creative=229680532747&plcmnt=&plcmntcat=&p1=&p2=&aceid=&position=1t1&gclid=CjwKCAjw1KLkBRBZEiwARzyE76NAcitIxW5hc2uISi5gZJnL4ZtweStkd0KnJlg_0ptZ8nMlHFJPPRoCfX8QAvD_BwE
Do you have to unplug the board when you dump the alcohol on it?
but when the machine is completly off, and have only charger connected, the power PP5V_S3 is on or off?
Wait a descriptive title? How else am I not going to know what the video is about?
I ve got a question, Louis.
A few days ago I wanted to use my iPhone 6 that i had not been using for 6 months. When I plugged it in, I saw the battery symbol. After 1 hour when I checked again, the phone was dead. Where should I start searching for the problem.
BB23 battery
there is a vulgar joke about the PP BUS. but I'm gonna save it for offline use.
Does he still have his store?
Where can I buy the capacitor?
awesome!!
fun spin
Hey do you guys fix HP motherboards that are out of warrenty? or are you strictly with apple products?
5A would almost certainly fry tracks and lead to other issues. Limit current to what you think that rail requires.
you limit current by lowering voltage.
@@rossmanngroup Current will still be high in short circuit situations. Ohms law: 1V/0.4R=2.5A. At 2V, it will be 5A. Most components are rated for just a few 100 milliwatts (P=V*I). Best to limit current to prevent fires in the future.
ppbus at 1:19
I worked at Ford back in the 90s and saw Ford Tauruses always on the lifts. I assumed they were pieces of garbage since they were always on the lifts. when I commented, I was taught, Ford sold SO MANY TAURUSes, like 20 times more than any other model, thats why they were always on the lifts. not that they broke down so much, just that there were so many of them. Think about when you fix yet another MacBook.
what kind application you have for schematic and for the view logic board .? where can i buy 1
This is so cool.
So, does alcohol have any adverse effects or can I just pour it on the whole thing? Will it harm fans? I assume I don't want it in my combo drive because it might just stick around too long.
he's probably using isopropyl alcohol which is safe for eletronics
hell yea !!
I'm not surprised Louis has alcohol stashed at his desk.
Louis, what happened to all the recent live broadcasts on the live channel all the recent ones are gone.
I mean, the alcohol meathod also cleans the board
Is there any case in which there are no shorts and no missing/pulled down rails and there's still an issue?
There are a million components on the board, anything could happen.
Except fuses blowing. Fuses never blow on Appla boards.
Wait so, you replaced capacitor or you just did some cleaning, then put it back on?
Thanks.
Can help me I what schematic Mac laptops
@@rajshiva2677 What?
Replaced
which chipset does it have
Kewl, I solve all my problems with alcohol too. 3:24
Can some explain to me why pouring alcohol was okay even when it's powered on?
Alcohol does not conduct electricity.
@@BikZom I see thanks
Hey Louis I have been having a bit of an issue with my MacBook and I was hoping you could help me. When I press the power button, the machine turns on. I haven't seen a fix for this on your channel yet. How can I fix this?
Thanks!
I have that mouse, that an excellent device.
hello.please give me the name this boardview
Louis, im a repair tech from LA and been watching you for years bro. i Have a 1278 macbook that wouldnt fan spin or anything. i opened it up and cleaned it and saw some corrosion. i now have fan spin but no image. Help =)
Hey. Why is one of my temperature sensors saying 127c. Is it broke?
Probably, most computers thermal throttle or shut down at 100 C.
0:55 reminds me of auction rapping xD
Who knew alcohol would become so hard to come by a year later, lol!!
Who is this Ran Dom guy?
The dude that sorts and allocates work to everyone at the shop.
What's happened to all your recent live streams?
I need a fan spin t-shirt
6:40 I began to feel like I was watching Fight Club or Max Headroom
Was just about to comment on this as well! Had to slow down the video, I regret doing that now.
Never owned a MacBook and probably never will. Am I smart or what Louis!?
And in today's episode, we replace fanspin, with meatspin...
Good
GOOOOOOOOD MOOOOOOORNING VIETNAAAAAAAAAM
im sure its been said before (too lazy to search LYGTFM), what % IPA? 90 or higher?
Andreas Stevens 90% will probably evaporate too fast. 70% should be find
Anything between 80% all the way up to damn near anhydrous. (It doesn't evaporate too fast.)
IPA is 99%
