@TFL - you missed something really important about the diesel and towing; while the weight of the engine will decrease the payload, whatever it is towing will be done much more easily and efficiently than any gas alternative.
So true. You won’t hesitate towing up to the max limit. With the 3.6, and towing to the max limit, it better be a calm day, you’re not above 5000 ft and there are no hills. Even then it’s a heck of a workout. The 3.6 isn’t comfortable towing over 5,000 lbs. I know people will say they do it, but if they have a lot of experience towing appropriate weights for the vehicle they are driving, they will understand that 7,000 may be in the books, but it’s just too much for that high revving 3.6. The diesel will be so comfortable towing 6,000 lbs. if you are not doing any hardcore off-roading, buy a Willys or something else you may like with the limited slip and your payload increases due to less options and lighter features underneath (generally). Still get the diesel and it will be a pretty decent camping vehicle or work vehicle. They don’t all have to be Rubicons. Jeep would like you to believe that so they can maximize their profit, but they just don’t need to be.

@@colinwatt00 - Welllllll, there’s no accounting for your tastes!!! Hahaha I like em all with 72 being my favourite. This 67 came along in a peculiar way. The picture is actually Jay Leno’s truck. Mine looks very stock outside sporting either 15x7 & 15x8 rally wheels it the same in Cragar SS 5 spokes. I did put Wilwood 4 wheel disc brakes on it and there’s a RamJet 350 with 4 speed automatic in it. Looks brand new. It may get lowered yet,,,,,

In the 1990s, I drove the ultimate custom Jeeps and Dodge Power Wagons. They were made for the Army & Marine Corps in the 1970s and 1980s. Jeep never made a civilian version of the Mule, and there are very few that still exist.

LOL i love when you polish the turd that the truck is off road. "Put a lift on it and . . . .. " Physics is physics. As a Jeep truck it lives with compromises. One of them is that its limited off road by its geometry. But its fun watching your heads bouncing around and the old man jokes are fun too. Well done.

Tell Jeep to make the half doors available through Mopar parts so those with Gladiator or JLs already can buy a set. I priced out a set using all the parts and it’s almost 10k for a set so waiting for the kit to be available.

I like some of these features on the gladiator. The red plaid on the seats, the soft top with half doors. Poor Nathan. Banging his noggin in the roof cross bar over and over. That’s annoying. I am like those half doors a lot. The price, not so much.

Where i can get that bed rack
The thing I find weird is when using Jepps configuring tool on their website, if you option the diesel you cant get the winter package to include the heated seats, and tri-fold Tonneau cover.
If you get to the point of ordering the vehicle, when you get to the dealership they can actually add any accessories like the trifold tonneau. I find the Jeep and Ram configuration tool is inconsistent and frustrating. You will have a decent idea when you get to the dealership what the price will be and confirm it there. You can negotiate on a special order vehicle, especially if it’s mostly mainstream. If it’s very unique or weird, then they are more cautious, because if you back out of the deal, the dealership gets stuck with that to sell otherwise. It’s just business.
I just ordered a Chevy 2500 and they were able to give me a rear mat, side steps and a few other items as part of the package. You can’t configure it the same, but accessories are just that. I just negotiated accessories into the package, got the 6.6 gas, Alaskan snow plow package on a Double Cab. It was still cheaper than my 2021 F150 XLT 301A Mid FX4. Only about $1,000, but cheap enough. Half tons are much cheaper still! Even when you don’t get the Pro Power package or the PowerBoost engine. Trying to beat Ford soundly this year in sales I guess.

How come a diesel pulls less than a gasoline?
Cooling restraints is what I’ve been told and read. It’ll still tow better than the gasser 5k to 5k which is a solid weight for any midsize truck.

Tow rating and tow capability are not the same thing. One is established by bean counters and the other by physics. The diesel can tow more.
