Surely keeping a player that doesn't want to be there will go well
Sets a bad precedent for future players that want an early release though
What is that emoji
@@zacsmith2026 Precedent has already been set over a decade ago with $BW
But you cant keep letting players break contracts when they feel like it.
@@rupertgrech7097 I think unless it’s an extreme circumstance like they did with the Warriors x Walsh move the club should get compensation or chance at a trade.
Apparently Hunts willing to pay his way out of the club. Shows you how bad he doesn’t want me to be there
Why would he not want you there ? Must be a top player aye
To be fair none of the board went to his 300th dinner I think the treatment he received as well as dealing with Griffins sack and carrying the team I think his just had enough. You can also argue he might be a little bit homesick and may want to go back to Brisbane.
He didnt want griffin to go, cos he didnt want to start again.
Well going to a new club... thats a complete start again.
How bout some straight answers from dozer.
Whats the real reason? Is he just having a sook cos griffin rightfully got sacked (players 70% to blame though)
@@w0lfm4n43YOU are the one without a straight answer… Say Hook shouldve got fired but then blame 70% on the players😂😂😂 70% and thats Hook’s fault
And isnt it obvious? Dragons are a dumpster fire, and Griffin was the one reason Hunt remained loyal
@@w0lfm4n4370%? And how did you get that percentage? Is that a fact or did you just made up that number?
They should let him go - he works hard and deserves to be on a team with a winning chance. Like Wighton they want to spend likely their last years in the sport with a fighting shot at a premiership.
Seriously ? His been really poor for the Dragons.
@@roryt1985 he's been the only good player this year lol
@@roryt1985 really poor? if he’s really poor what is everyone else on that team bc he’s the best they got
Wighton off contract end of season where hunt has 2 years. How about reject his release and put him in reserves for next 2 years the QLD dog.
@@taiyonatiare7918 I meant since he joined them, he’s had one decent season for the Dragons and his last two years at Bronco’s were poor too
Every weekend this man gives it his all, he feels all his hard work is coming to nothing, he wants a premiership or feels the players around ain't pulling there weight
Truth.
Oath
Maybe he should have been pulling his weight the first 3 years of that million dollar contract and not wait till 2 years left and amazingly starts performing when he needs a new contract
If he can't carry a team with the players they have, he isn't and hasn't been worth 1 million a year is he?
Can't win without stars around him, can't get his mate the coaching job, blames everyone else. Send him to NSW Cup.
It's not that players don't pull their weight, they're just not good enough.
Pretty sure townsend only has until 2024, cows should sign hunt for 3 years. Could definitely see a premiership push with hunt and dearden in the halves 💪
As a dragons fan id happily cop the Million$ loss on the cap for 2 yrs to see him sit out & watch from the sidelines.
The way he's handled this situation has been nothing short of disgraceful, putting his lack of integrity & character on show for all.
If I was the chooks I'd be offering Sam walker as trade bait. Dragons save salary money and can invest in more future prospects. Walker gets his starting role for a rebuilding team and Hunt gets his premiership potential. Roosters get someone to give them direction
Your talking like team administrators are actually smart...
Yeah this makes too much sense for it to actually happen 😅
Only problem is, Roosters aren't premiership material
@crazyprayingmantis5596 I agree they arent right now, but with a good half it would certainly do them no harm. Look what happened when cronk went to Roosters... Tedesco, Keary, Hunt and Smith would be best spine in the game.
I don't see that being the case if he is there with them. Despite their injuries and suspensions they aren't in a bad spot.
If Ben wanted to win a premiership, all he had to do is catch a ball.
💀
I still remember that moment.
Jayden Sullivan and Tyrell Sloan both asked for releases in 2022 because the Dragons weren't talking to the players, obviously it's still happening, Jadyn Sua has also been looking around, expect more release requests to arise before the 2024 season
Both sooks who weren't to NRL standard (and still aren't). Sua is chasing the money back to QLD.
Let him go he’s given you guys enough
Not really he's paid 1.1 million hasn't attracted any players to the club and has a weird obsession with a mediocre coach in griffin.
@@Opeth221 You serious? He's been the Dragons best player by a country mile for years
Should come back home to QLD Club
Dolphing ,,,,and hope that within 3 years he hopes they get right players around him to win premiership ,,,,but would love him at bronx but we got positions sorted
Don’t blame him.. leave the dragons they’re dusted
Most top line players usually have a clause that if there is a coach change they have an option to leave.
Let him go. He hasn't won before and he definitely won't win at Titans, Bulldogs or Tigers.
Titans need a leader, Ben hunt would be a perfect leader, and the needed experience would help finish games, titans would be on the top of the ladder if the kept their first half scores
What are you talking about, tigers are premiership favs in 2124
He is a million dollar sook. Want's marquee money, but isn't marquee enough to carry a side. Wants the cash, but wont take a pay cut to build a rep side around him.
Basically a flog and flop.
Haas and TpJ both did it at the broncos is recent memory. We fumbled tpj for a while before he left and made Haas stay.
There's a list as long as your arm, Brandy suffering memory loss 😂
Who is running the Dragon's? They pay Phil Gould a fortune to do an indepth review of the club and then turn around and hire the very coach that Gould sacked just the year before because he was no good. Then they wonder why they are in such a mess. I dont know what the review said but i would bet anything that it never mentioned anywhere to hire Anthiny Griffen as head coach. Stevie Wonder could've seen this mess coming so no sympathy for the administrators but i feel sorry for the fans who have no say, they just have to put up with it.
Split board unless that changes nothing changes
Leave Ben, you gave your best, the Dragons did not..... time to move on, move to sunny new pastures. Good luck.
Dragons are in 16th place on 10 points with the Tigers so things can't get any worse for the Dragons if Hunt is released. Why keep a player who does not want to be there, is at the back end of his career, is taking up a large slice of the salary cap and has not brought the Dragons any success at all!!!
Dragons should release Hunt now and use the money saved to sign players who do want to be there. Clearly the Dragon's administration also needs a clean out if they are to have any success on the field.
I recall during a post match interview a few weeks ago, he mentioned that if a new coach was brought in to the club, he didn't think he'd have enough time and energy to start all over again.
That million doesn't inspire him to do his best for his employer? The grub.
Probably end up with Bennett and the Dolphins
Didn’t Wayne punt him back to Qld cup when they were at the Broncos?
@@patcummins6036 maybe but think he is keen to get back to QLD so could be on the cards
Payne Haas was denied a release
Expect 💯% performance from Ben for the rest of the year if they don’t release him. 12 games left so that would be around 8% every game 😊
Can’t argue that math
@@ALEXLION100 : I would be, I just plucked it out of me you know where.
Payne Haas asked for a release and wasn’t given it. Happens just as often as asking for a release and it getting granted
My understanding of the Haas situation was not for wanting to leave, but for a bigger pay cheque. Different situation.
@@slingblade8963 he said to list one example of a player asking for a release and staying after it not being granted. I can think of loads that’s just one. Milford never left raiders early to broncos and we also never let Hodges go to roosters early when he asked a release. It happens just as often it’s just not a story when they don’t move. It’s bad journalism which is unfortunately the norm now Kenty and Ikin are gone
Nothing wrong with wanting to return home at 32 years old.
Dolphins said no , same for Broncs only leaves the Titans.
As a long, long time Dragons man I say clear the lot out and start fresh.
He said he wants to win a premiership yet all the clubs chasing him won’t win one in the next two years
Cowboys?
@@Tyrese6652bulldogs can next year when they get Crichton any side who gets him are capable of contending at least I’d be going to the dogs if I was him titans have developed a losing habit and will never be contenders
@@LZ21-Chrichton won’t add anything to Bulldogs. Especially if he plays fullback.
@@crazyprayingmantis5596 Not if he wants to go home , Townsville is 1300k's from Brisbane
Bro what a turnaround Ben hunt from wanting to leave to now wanting to sign a contract extension what a turnaround
It’s hard. Contracts are a 2 way thing. The club can’t say they don’t want him and stop paying him. Ben needs to see out his contract if he is still wanted there.
I get it if both parties come to an agreement, but unlikely.
didnt they JUST sack griffin? Sounds hypocritical
@@Izzy-oo5rm they would have had to pay him out! There are always consequences to breaking contracts unless both parties agree
@@Izzy-oo5rm he might have even had a performance clause. Who knows.
@@steeleheraud3496 hunt wants to pay a like $200k from his pockets to leave so whats the issue?
Saints just need to let him go and bring across some that wants to be there
Good bloke, just let him go if he’s unhappy at the dragons
Cowboys surely will make a move n move on Chad
Hope so but can’t see us having the money
He would look good in a roosters jersey
Imagine being a player of Hunt’s calibre and playing Origin, yet each week he must find the enthusiasm to play club footy? How soul destroying for a guy still with so much talent and potential to wear a ball and chain like that!
Yet he is inspired to collect his $50k a week wages... how about being a good worker and having the integrity to honour the contract you signed, and play your best. Not try and dictate the coach, the recruitment and the clubs direction.
If he really wanted to win he would of taken less money so the Dragons can buy more rep players.
@@nswpublicservant Hunt’s the team Captain and a senior player/leader in the club. At the tail end of a distinguished career it must be difficult to see his club imploding. It’s not about the money, but more about his legacy, and the future after football for his family and himself. He deserves every cent he earns and isn’t responsible for the club’s woes whether financial or otherwise. Hunt knows he’ll be made the scapegoat and I’m sure the club knows their problems run deeper than just one player!
Let him go. The best Saints won 11 premierships in a row, 21 years in a row for NSW and helped entrench AU at No1 for 50 years. Ben Hunt did none of those things and he doesn't respect it.
Ben’s really dropped the ball with this …😊
This is a win for the dragons , release an aging player past his best , free up a lot of cap room and allow Sullivan to take over the team
Past his best? He's been there best player for the last 3 years, if everyone in that team played like him they would be a great team.
@@madlad8629 he’s still playing well I agree but he will either retire next year or 2025 so you may as well release him at his age and invest in amone and Sullivan
Unfortunately in this current time when a player is um happy all contract aside you have to let them go it’s as simple as that really if they don’t want to be there then move them on. Dragons need to find a perfect suitor for him however work with him wherever the club he desires to move to try get a player swap done for a few young players or just 1 young player for example titans Campbell, dogs have plenty of ppl they would offer up. I’m sure Kyle would love to be coached my Shane again and still fail miserably
I’m on the fence with this one. On one hand it’s a grub act to his teammates but on the other hand his only got a couple years left in the game so should he be granted a release to make the most of the little time he has left? It’s 50/50 in my opinion
Nice Video ❤️😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sloane and Sullivan publicly asked for a release and it was denied. They are still at the Dragons and playing 1st grade.
Hunt signed the contract he should honour that contract no ifs or buts and the fact that he asked for an immediate release whilst he's in origin camp is a piss poor move from Ben
brandy is forgetting that two of the dragons younger players (sullivan and sloan i think it was) asked for a release but backflipped. will certainly be interesting to see how this unfolds.
He just needs a good old fashioned hiding
He gets that playing for the dragons each week lol
the NRL needs to fine big time the clubs that are negociating with ben hunt. fine them, dock them competition points and/or cut their salary cap for a few years.....
its not right. ben has a contract that runs for over 2 more years.
ben hunt.
a great player, but is he a man of character?
bag out the st george management all you want....
but ben hunt is doing a scummy thing to the st george club, supporters and all other clubs that value contracts with players..
Time to enjoy a bit of sunshine Benny, SE Qld. will warm you up... Hope Wayne is talking to you.
This Dragons board are actually deranged. The player doesn’t want to be there, he wants to win a comp. There isn’t a single chance in hell the dragons will be competing for a titles in under 2 years.
Let him go, he doesn’t want to be there
Brandy you should be at work with NSW, what are you up2 mate
Why keep a player that doesnt want to be there? They wont make the 8 so give it to someone who does. So simple.
He will be granted a release
I know he has a contract but it’s dum to keep a player that doesn’t wanna be there. Release him.
Ben Hunt Raiders #7
Why would you want an unhappy player at your club ?
Let him go to the bulldogs, give us Burton and Carr.
Sit him out like they did with Talis
Let him loose the guy doesn't want to be there & it wont be good for the team & club to have him around no good can come of this situation.
Remember his 300th game dinner. No one went. He needs to leave asap
Could Hunt sit out if they don't trade him?
Ben hunt deserves so much more and so much better, the dragons need to be taken out of the competition at the moment they’re a joke of a club.
Hes probably going Dolphins 🐬
no he’s not. hunt wants a premiership really badly
If it was such an issue why did he resign?
Dragons need to let him go. He gave his all on the field for them & still no results. Imagine the money they will save. Don't be suprise if shane bring his son from the doggies in once he coaches next year
He's not getting a lot of sympathy from me. If he was serious about his ambitions then why did he wait until after the club had sacked his diabolically performing mate and replaced him with a proven winner?
Unless the Roosters want to swap him with Walker, where else is he going to win a premiership before he retires? None of the clubs chasing his signatures will win the premiership any time soon. He has the chance to finish his career under one of the game's best coaches and he's pissing it away just to go and play for another decent (at best) team.
The fact he's requesting an IMMEDIATE release shows he hasn't properly thought this through.
Make him stay for next season minimum. No improvement , let him go.Improvement , he stays. He agreed to the deal.
If he wants to win a premiership going to titans or dogs is not the move and the teams that are in contendership to win have better players and wouldn’t want him, he’s just in a losing situation
Titans have improved but just lacks leadership from an experienced player. Hunt would be a perfect fit with a big forward pack.
Straight to reserve grade until you approve a release to a UK club only.
His form for the Dragons overall has been average at best. Nowhere near a million dollar player. A million dollar sook.
These QLD players always get homesick for more money.
Didnt he have a exit clause in his contract if they fired there coach?🤔
Can’t blame him.. who wants to play for them 😂
Send him to the tigers.
Flanno will turn the club around,
He’ll be gone at the end of the season . Once a player wants to leave it never ends well
No success with ben but not his fault. This is not basketball. I gun in 5 can make a difference but 1 gun in 13, hard task for any one.
I hated playing for dragons through rep footy, i wasnt a dragons fan anyways,
Didnt both dragon youngins ask for a release, then change minds?
I swear if Bulldogs end up signing him they are Roosters 2.0. There is no f*cking way they could nab another one.
they have no one
Dolphins have a million up there sleeve
Maybe Hunt doesn't want to play for a cheat.
if he wants to leave, he should at least leave at the end of the season.
This drama is all great timing for a warriors fan 😅
This is crazy a contract does it mean nothing in NRL these days if you can just get out by saying this Club’s not winning enough this is terrible contract are a bloody joke
Yet the club can dump the coach or player anything they want. Not many people linger that much. Hunt gave warning that an action will cause a reaction. So its much Gray then black n white
No, if a contract is in place a club can't just get rid of them. They still have to pay out the remainder of the contract. Hunt can chose not to play if he is under contract but he won't get paid and he can't just go and joint another club. Contracts work both ways usually, it's just rugby league players that don't think they're binding.
@@pixd7902 take professional wrestling. There's stipulations for nearly everything. One company could drop you at a dime and only pay you 2 months, but NOT the remaining part of the contract. With the wreastler, if they believe the company isn't best utilising them, or is making a mockery of them, they request their releases as they know the future story going forward will jeopardise their future potential. If denied, they either do not perform or jeopardise ot making the company look worse. If accepted, then wreastler can't compete for 2 months.
So with hunt. The attraction to the club is clearly with the coach. He told the club, if the coach goes, he doesn't want to perform his best. Their for as a club, you keep him as a liability or a hindrance.
The modern world can't cover every aspect of stipulated claws.
Hunt should be made to play reserve grade ,, he and his manager came to the dragons to help themselves out
Disrespectful diva
No honour
Go back to Brisbane
Ben C
Ben did nothing for the first couple of years, good to take the money and now that times are tough he wants to run away. He had a chance to win a grand final and he dropped the ball. Grow up, you signed your contract, be a man and do your job then move on.
The Dragons are dreaming if they think Ben will stay, they keep shooting themselves... time to see the CEO and board sacked I think... heads to roll..
Well Dogs & Titans aren’t winning a comp in 2-3 years and aren’t doing any better than the Dragons realistically. Who else is he going to go to that a legitimate chance also he’s contacted to 2025. End of story so who’s he talked to whilst under contract & 2 who are they going to send back the Dragons way.
Absolutely zero chance they just let him go but if the Dogs or Titans can swap 2-3 players to the value of 1.2 million plus remainder of this year. The bloke can play 14 for the next 2 years
Pretty sure griffin had a contract too. Look how that turned out. its a 2 way street
I hope there is a swap deal Kyle Flanagan for Ben hunt though i think im dreaming
Ben hunt going to the roosters
butter fingers forever
He was quite happy to take the big dollars during the years he was underperforming. Played his guts out recently, but it's about time. If he wants to reduce the cost of him leaving, take it, or he can play out his contract. All clubs should be holding players to their contract.
Yet they can sack an under contract coach?
There are too many teams and not enough talent.
Bulldogs are no closer to winning that the dragons so can't see him going there.
MORE DRAMA FOR THE GAMBLERS LOL ITS ALL A SHOW GUYS
Successful football program apparently according to some club Muppet....
Hunt hasn’t preformed to the level that 1.2million demands, he is a markee player he is supposed to attract players, he hasn’t.
This guy is a joke, thinks he is an elite player but hasn’t delivered, hasn’t even taken the Dragons to the semifinals ever.
Look at his stats he wasn’t even in the top ten regarding stats.
My thoughts is make him suffer the way the fans have watching him.
Put him in reserve grade and let’s all forget Ben Hunt and move on.
The Dragons office are clueless. This is the exact reason Hunt wants out. What a complete 💩 show.
Honor your big money contract you grub
Good. His one decent season affords him nothing
Go to wests mate 😂
Overrated player anyway. Only good in a maroons jersey
Funny that, perhaps it’s cause he’s surrounded by a quality team?😂 maybe that’s why he wants out of the Dragons 🤯
Lol dragons are a basket case.
Dragons seems like they are bastards
Having a sook because his underachieving mate got hooked
He is going nowhere -
As a dragons fan ,,,, hunt mad zero difference to our attack ,,,
his highest paid player status was shocking to hear ,,, for all I remembered him as was a reserve player for Bronco’s
The dragons offical who gave hunt the cheque should justify why so much money
