    Great stuff TMF, an important part of motorcycle heritage and history...and still going strong!. There is something magical about a hand built nickel plated frame . One of my elderly customers casually mentioned to me she occasionally met Steve McQueen on Santa Monica beach and cycled along with him....!!. Cheers, Steve

Fond memories of my mate Clive's Triumph 650 Rickman Matisse as it was known in the 60's, first bike I ever got off without intending to - he wheelied away from the lights in Watford and planted me from pillion to the tarmac while I was adjusting my helmet !!

    Great episode friend complete with vivid memories for me ! Back in 1973 after purchasing a new Kawasaki Z1(903cc) I was run into from behind and the bike was totaled. Back then you could send off to jolly old England (I lived in Pennsylvania USA at the time)and for a mere $1695.00 the Rickman Brother's sent me one of their beautiful rolling chassis. All I had to do was use my Z1 engine and wiring harness(unharmed in the wreck) and I was back on the road.The already fast(for the time)Z1 was now 80 Lbs. lighter with handling to match it's motor! Thanks Missendenflyer I thoroughly enjoy your channel and Good Luck and fortune to the ongoing "Metisse" legacy !

    Every January Meecum Motorcycle Auctions have an auction in Las Vegas, Nevada. Almost 2000 mostly classic bikes are sold over 4 to 5 days. I see alot of British buyers purchasing mostly British bikes. Several of them band together to share the cost of the containers and ship them back home (England). The Japanese buyers are now doing the same thing with the late 1960 and early 1970 Japanese models too.
    I'm glad these bikes or parts of these bikes are being repurposed to live on. Many bikes at the Meccum Auction are restored and are in class 1 or class 2 (better or show room), many are class 3 that are complete and running condition. If you come don't bring money because you will buy.

    Hi TMF - hope you’re enjoying the weather - isn’t it just great. Anyway back to the vid. What a fascinating visit. Wouldn’t mind one of those Mark 3s! Might have to start saving - yet again! Just a little concerned about the brakes though. We’ve all got used to discs with Brembos that a step back in time to drum brakes on the front and that seriously weird but rather lovely arrangement on the rear might be hair raising! Pity they didn’t offer you a test review! Yours aye, Alan

    • @TheMissendenFlyer

    👍 Great video
    The frames and bodywork are made down here in Wiltshire by two companies with a long heritage in motorcycle sport.
    I'm in Tuscany next week and looked at the Tuscany Motorcycle Tours and it was €520 for me and the mrs to jump on a multistrada in Florence ride to the museum/factory have a look around then ride back. That is serious money for a day out.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  5 років тому

      ...I imagine the Multistrada may have been the lions share of the cost but point taken...and yes these are beautifully made machines aren't they, somewhat "boutique" but it's good to see proper engineering still going on in England...

A certain Mr Cole has one and rode his around the Balkans some years ago in his greatest motorbike rides program.. mind you he tried it in South Africa first, I think it was and it broke down .. He did mention part of the pre ride check process involved a spanner to make sure none of the bolts had worked loose during the previous days ride .. Still a beautiful bike though ..

    Bought one took 11 months to build, became a friend of the man, bike had a problem, well many problems, he had it back for a year, nothing done, spent £5k having to have the bike sorted by someone else, childhood dream turned into a adult nightmare, and l am not the only one. Sorry to say very unhappy experience, sad as the guy befriended me, and it cost me £5k ontop of the £15,500k to make the bike ridable. Vouid.

      Don't think you would have to worry about depreciation on a mettise though. They may not be 60's originals, but they are the exact same bike.
      I've seen these race at classic scrambles where I live, and they are weapons, not just ornaments
