In most clips LUT post production looks better, sometimes even much better. But sometimes if is there a lot of white, darker area looks darker with LUT, for me at 2:05 is such situation. When you have more natural colours from 2:10 to the 4:20 video looks better, clearer and brighter with LUT. While at 2:25 with LUT looks to be too much contrast. For me whole minute from 4:20 to 5:20 with LUT is too much contrast, just half of LUT might be better.
Basically just few adjustments in some clips are needed and video would be in great natural colours, while in more then half of clips LUT default settings are already great. (Y)

No doubt the Fimi x8 has a nice camera. As for the LUT, in some cases it made a big difference in a pleasant way but in some cases it made the scenes too dark and lost all the detail in the shadow areas. Since the Fimi x8 is obviously a reverse engineered clone of the original Mavic Pro it would be interesting to see a camera comparison between the two. Great location to film too bad it was so rainy. Great video Dustin, I love Hawaii, I can hardly wait to get back to Maui. 🤙
A massive improvement, apart from the one clip that was almost entirely mist. I think 'richer' is the word I'd use to describe the look. 😁👌🏼

Somewhere between the 2 would be my preference. With the LUT, I find the sky too light and the land too dark and over saturated.
Agree, also a little less blue and magenta will be fine.

Can never get too much of that beauty you captured with the X8 XE. About the LUT, yes it made a dramatic improvement in most of the clips in my opinion. The first few clips simply got darker, so perhaps those would have been better with a different LUT, or none at all. Overall, it seemed that the clips with less than 30% cloud washout in view seemed to be improved the most by your particular LUT. For instance, the overcast shots of the valley and the look-down shots of the falls (with no clouds in view) became just breathtaking with that LUT. Thanks for sharing these post-processing options and examples with us!
LUT thing really helped on foggy moments I'm not so sure about the clear parts of the raw video it looked a little to unnatural for my taste. But beautiful video all and all so jealous about where you live! Keep up your amazing content
Looks better with LUT if you aren't looking up into the clouds with the camera. If you are facing the clouds, the LUT ruins the contrast and brightness of the terrain. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to get the software and try it out.

I like the effects the LUT has for the majority of the shots, though there was occasion when the raw footage seemed better.
Indeed with LUT the ground looks more pleasant to the eye but when the talk goes to the sky there is a big problem. To my screen, boosting the contrast you LOSE ALL your beautiful mist and cloudy sky (Which is most of your view)!
So, it's not always a good thing

Almost always looks better with LUT and sometimes a lot better. Picking a day with better weather would do wonders also:)
Awesome Dustin. Video has some contrasting views but I wood have to say the LUT makes for a pleasant change, a bit warmer view. I just wish Nebraska had the breathe taking scenery you have.. It’s more vibrant with the LUT.
Interesting effect, but I think I like the raw footage. I'm a fan of post production not so much blanket enhancements. You get great footage from the x8 and I would be very interested to here your opinion comparing it to the Autel Evo
The raw-video doesn't show the video quality performance which the Fimi X SE can provide. Just some questions to understand the missing quality of colour brilliance and:
Which video set up did you use in your FIMI RC ?
Did you use latest firmware because previous firmware exactly had this colour and brilliance issue as well the blue color fault?
My recommendation to achieve better raw material: check for latest firmware, you can setup saturation and contrat for video in the RC APP. 60; 60 is standard. For sunny wheather I reduced it to 58- 59. But your foggy conditions may need some more like 62...
You may know that you can also switch to manua Mode. If you setup iSO 100, FP 2x fps you will have deep brilliant colours which needs reduction of Saturation, Contrast in the App.

Yes, all latest firmware. Everything default on camera. Mainly was here for the hike but brought the Fimi.
I would dispense with the LUT and just manually adjust contrast, brightness, exposure, saturation, etc. post processing for each clip, since they all vary enough to make it worth your while. Overall, too dark, even for a rainy cloudy day for my taste, and LUT seems to oversaturate. JMHO
too much contrast with the LUT. If you turn down the intensity of the LUT it would look much better, thanks for sharing 👍

It's kinda of a mix to me... Some of the lux is great, while there's something about the RAW that just looks cooler. I've used LUX with my other action cameras... also mixed results... Yeah somewhere in between would be good mate, some clips looked better but some looked worse.. Although I have not posted my newer flight videos yet as I'm building my collection up first, I tend not to bother editing the colours and keeping them as natural as possible, lol plus being colour blind don't help me, I could mess the colours right up lol

A Look Up Table is only a starter. This one needs to be reduced and the footage needs to be graded further (highlights, greens, shadows.. are still all off)

Why wouldn't you simply switch the drone into F-LOG video mode? Isn't the result the same?
I have a VSDC editor that I paid the xtra 20 bucks to get the features and I cannot get the software to see the LUT that I got from Autel . I place the files in the right location however the software does not see it. Are there LUT files that will not work with certain editors? Thank you!

Great idea the use of more saturated and contrasted LUTs. By the way, with Fimi X8 photography in DNG format does not leave you with an extremely violet tone? The JPG format is good but I don't get a good photo in DNG. ¿?
Nah, I can't condone blanket use of LUT. It's a really subjective thing, and honestly, sometimes it actually works against the intent of the videographer or purpose for which the video is even being captured in the first place. If the purpose is to capture the essence of the day, the area, the true feel of what it was like to be there, then adding the LUT in 95% of cases made the video look and feel nothing like your actual personal human experience there. Some people would say "but it looks 'better' " (which I only agree with maybe 50% of the time), but "better" isn't always the goal. Plus, in this video, around 50% of the clips genuinely looked worse with LUT...skies too bright with loss of interesting detail, and ground/foliage too dark with loss of interesting detail. I believe LUT and HDR should be reserved for use on an exception basis rather than just becoming the new norm.

Hey! Awesome video, I just bought the fimi x8 se from bangood, and I have a question, can u use it with DJI goggles RE? Anyone knows??
congrats! No those goggle won't work unless you have a phone or tablet on controller that can output HDMI. Then you can duplicate the screen to any goggles that accept HDMI input 👍
Hi dustin it dont half sharpen the pic up dont it but on certain parts when the area is pretty dark already when you alter it it makes it too darkinfact so dark that you cant see so that being said i think you need to just pick the areas to alter and others not to alter hope this helps dd

Why everybody says "RAW" when it isn't?! The fimi x8 se is not capable of recording RAW. It only has log profile....and it is NOT raw.

The conditions that you chose to shoot video in were a worst case scenario, the LUT helped in some areas and sucked in others. I loved the Hawaiian folk though, that guy is good!
