Justin thanks for doing extended reviews on this drone. This is the drone everyone is keeping an eye to put a wrinkle on Dji because xiomi is an actual established company that makes great products and is just as big as Dji. This drone comes in at a fraction of the price and is better than any other drone in it's price point so hopefully it proves its worth.

Woah! What an incredible drone for that price point. A whopping 3 mile round trip is amazing. Then flight time was really good as well as the video quality

Another great range test Dustin. The Fimi X8 did very well, it went the distance.
I would try precision landing that already from take-off(or at some 2 feets high) the camera would be tilted totally down. Maybe this will helps drone to "remember" take-off picture. And ofcorse before landing I would tilt camera again down.
And I agree with you, for the money this is the best drone you can get. A lot of functions works good + 4k camera works very good.

I LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS, YOU ARE BY FAR THE BEST REVIEWER ON YOU TUBE,,, and I'm not criticizing,, this is just a thought, when the craft lost signal at 16000' why don't you just slide the parabolic dishes on at that point and see how much further you can go,,, why do you have to have 2 separate videos.... also I get a chuckle out of every single drone reviewer making a big deal out of the precision return to home being 3'4'5' off.....as a drone pilot --Can you think of any situation where the drone must come back and land exactly where it took off,,, personally I'm happy if it comes back within 50' I can take control and land the drone
I can think of many times where I find one flat spot 5 feet away from the ocean on a lava rock cliff here to launch from. If something happened to my controller or phone/tablet and could not regain ccontrol. Good precision landing would mean the difference of the drone gone in the ocean or wrecked in the lava / or worse landing on someone. Lots of reasons and it's a feature that is now advertised so it should work better 👍

Thank you for your prompt response and and explanation also why you feel return to home accuracy is important. I noticed another reviewer who had a fairly successful return to home with the X8 calibrated directly over his launch/landing pad, thought that might have some bearing, my Phantom Vision 2 was always off by usually 2 to 3 feet. Not much but your reasoning for accuracy is understandable. Thanks again

I love the reviews that Dustin does. He is one of the reasons I got into this hobby. I responded to a post earlier, that the X8 is going for 650 on Ebay.. Obviously, the link Dustin has is a much better price. I wanted to add that if people are looking to spend 5-6 hundred for this drone. Do some checking. You can pick up a Mavic Pro, in great condition, for about the same price. This would be used, but so many flyers jumped on the new versions, that the used market is now flooded. Just saying. Be safe..

Just remember That Anafi have had a lot of updates lately With new features and such. Dustin really needs to pick up Anafi again for an updated test. Im also looking for Anafi or similar priceband so would like to see this as well
@@DK1864dizzy I agree with Sonny,I would love to see a really good trial on the Anafi.I like the material the Anafi is made from making it lighter than others and the quietness but the range can't be improved coz of the battery size for the speed it fly's at means any more range and it couldn't RTH from full range.

Fly and record in 1080p. You are going to have about 28 to 31 minutes of flight time till 10% battery.

Also, the radio chip may only TX with as much power as it needs. If that’s the case, flying closer could also help.
2miles folks is more than ENOUGH for all of us .Shit what more do we need from quads to go outer space.Shit they are battery powered and little flying marvels of machines that we are blessed to have and fly.GOOD flying D and showing what this one can do. Any body that will have this in their collection of quads will be pleased with this baby right here i got enough dji ones and i love all of them also have others to from different quad makers and i love all of those to that i just love to fly. But this one i love since ive had it and i just love to fly it to every time since i got it just like all the ones im blessed to have and fly. I base the QUADS i buy on the purpose that they serve me the ones for fun and sport, the ones for serious photographic. The ones for flying close the ones for going way out there, the ones that u just fly the shit out of them up side down twirling all around going all of the place and sturdy ass fuck just in case u just happen to crash it dust it off and be amaze that the dam thing Will Still FLY .

Just one observation: keep in mind that you are not in totally interference free area. You have cellular telephony (2g, 3g, 4g...) broadcast, electromagnetic interference from power lines, etc. At high frequencies where drone's RF transmitter is operating, clouds are obstacle to RF signal. So I guess that flying it over a sea or in wildness could give even better range results. Of course, it has no real life application comparing to your video, but I'm saying this only from theoretical point.

I had/have both... mavic hit a bridge.. sensors didn't help...lol.. also a spark that acts more like an expensive paperweight. For some reason DJI products do not appreciate android phones. I'm looking for an alternative to both in short.

That was pretty much what they claimed it could do truth in advertising. I wonder if it can bind to the Fimi A3 controller with the built in display.

a quick calculation... it went ~15K feet in 8 minutes.. that's 1875f/min = 21,3mph = 34km/h

Great stuff! Isn't it possible that if you want to test if the primary camera assists in precision landing, that you should have taken off with it facing down too? Another explanation would be that the hardware in form of the bottom sensors is there but the software doesn't use them yet until the software is finished. I'm just guessing here, no criticism whatsoever. I think you do a great job putting it through its paces.
Your right but I honestly don't think it uses it. There is a new update and the bottom cam looks for a landing pad. If you don't have one a message now pops up "no landing pad detected". Time for more testing 😂✌️

According to its manual the precise landing works in VPU mode only. Not in GPS mode. It does have some optical flow camera on the bottom which takes care of it. No need to tilt gimbal down.
I did many Precision landing tests now, see my videos, and PLs WORK 100%!!

I'm not sure if it has changed or not. But the GPS accuracy used to be determined by the us military. In order to get more than 3 meter accuracy we had to get special permission and they had to authorize it in the system or in the satellites to allow us 1 foot accuracy on our GPS boxes. Most of these return tests are within the tenish foot radius. So that leads me to believe those limitations are still in place. Cheers
Not positive, but I think those restrictions were lifted some time ago. Also of note, this, and many drones, utilize the Russian GLONASS geolocation satellite network. along with GPS.

I think it displays feet/meters per second, depending on metric or imperial settings

I had a flight with my fimi x8 se today , with stock antenna and no booster, with the height of about 100m , i managed reached 5139 meter still with full bar on controller and 3 bar at video feeds at 48% left battery.

This looks like it may be the one for me.
His Mavic will fly 5 miles (proved from his house to mine); however, I don't need that distance or
the 30 minutes flight time.
The camera seems to give all the resolution I need for finding camping and fishing spots in the Colorado mountains.

Thanks. It works on Android or apple and controller plugs directly into phone so no wifi is needed in the field. If you have data (which a phone should) you'll be able to stream in the basemap.
Such a big difference, (range), between an urban area, and a valley area! Have You tried a range test after the last update? Aparently supports FCC mode
