    The sound of the moose walking through the water was a pretty cool touch to the video

    My hat is off to the solo hunter/cameraman. When I hunt, I'm so focused and zeroed-in on hunting that trying to film myself hunting would drive me NUTS.

    I use to pack moose in Alaska for Bob Adams guide service. Props getting that moose out of the willows. Most people don't realize how heavy a moose is our how thick the willows are. I Love Alaska!

    Shot my bull in water also...but I had a rope come-along which made butchering relatively easy (4 hours solo butchering) . Take plenty of knives for moose hunting. I live in central Alaska and already looking forward to calling in a bull in Sept. I eat moose most every day. Thanks for the show!

      Retriever Training I’m so jealous. I’ve never had moose in my life and have ALWAYS wanted to try it. One day my dream will come true and I’ll get to hunt the great state of AK. Or maybe go to Montana for one, but I’d MUCH rather go to Alaska for a moose hunt.

    Question is, would you shoot that 1200 pound moose in the water again? Hehe 😜 looks like you did a good job getting him out of the water, but sometimes it’s best to wait for them to get to dry land first 😆

    I've shot my share of moose but I've never taken one while it was in the water.. Their easier to work on on dry land. I have towed one across a small lake, with their hollow hair they float not to badly. In the boat I found an old red and white and some old line. I tied them up and through it over while towing Mr. Moose and yes I got 3 nice Rainbow trout. North East of Prince George, 1978

    So we've been watching Alone season 6 during quarantine and after we saw Jordan kill the moose and the wolverine I had to show my boys this episode of yours. Then I told them how you pioneered so much of solo footage and show production and that there probably wouldn't be the show Alone if it weren't for Solo Hunter doing it first proving the format is television worthy. Keep fighting the good fight Tim. God speed Brother!

    Question for you. It looks like you do a lot of your filming with s DSLR correct? Any tips you would like to pass on? I just got one and will be trying to film some of my own stuff this fall and would appreciate any advice.
    You are an inspiration!
    God bless

    • @solohntr
      @solohntr  10 років тому +1

      Thanks man! DSLR is tough to self film with but the results can be saweet! Take your time and work it as a manual camera only. Good luck!

      SOLO HUNTER Do you have any recommendations on lens? I just have the kits lens for my camera 18-55mm and 55-250mm. Thinking I'll probably get a 50mm prime and maybe something with a little more reach than the 250 has.

    • @solohntr

      Sigma 18-250mm is a great all round lens.

  • @Pepenatito1
    @Pepenatito1 8 років тому +1

    Please don't add music, it takes away from the great footage. Other than that, i love these videos.

    • @Pepenatito1
      @Pepenatito1 8 років тому

      +Bruno Roman Aguilar I meant to say, please don't add music when filming the animals, like when the moose is coming out into the water.

      SOLO HUNTER me too!!! I hope. My first unsuccessful hunt (last year) was when I took out my camera's. I am 57 and have hunted all my life. I hunt Solo for many reasons. The main reason is there are to many goof balls out there. Sad eh!!!
      Don't reply you are busy.

    didn't know it was legal to shoot them in the water

    • @AkPacerPilot
      @AkPacerPilot 4 роки тому

      It’s legal, but not advised as many hunters have failed to be capable of removing the moose from the water without wasting meat. However, If your getting the cert to hunt certain areas that is required, the quiz will fail you for choosing the shot with a moose in water.
      Although If he had shot from the boat that would not be legal.

    isnt it illegal to kill a moose in water?? hmm

    • @energizerwolf5574
      @energizerwolf5574 6 років тому +1

      Yes it is! Unless you have a valid hunting license. Or its to small, etc... Caribou is illegal to kill in water when they swim trough certain waters, unless you are native tribe member, or so.

    • @ADKwarriors
      @ADKwarriors 5 років тому

      I thought the same thing as the state I live in, it is completely illegal.
