I am just starting with my first camera.
I bought the Westcott Fj200 backpack, a light meter, a couple stands and my umbrella. I adjust each light using the light meter, pressing the test button, and dial in the intensity of the light on the dial to match ISO-100, and the F I am using. I set my camera to 1/60 shutter speed.
I *think* it worked when I used F16 and the lights were near max intensity.
However, when I try F8 or F5, and adjust the lights to to what my light meter told me that was where it read F8 or F5... I take the shot and the lights seem to have adjusted themselves to a different setting. I go back over to them and either they read intensity 1.0 and the picture is all dark OR it seems sometimes, I go back and it read 9.0 and its totally over lit.
I don't understand what's going on and how to get the lights to listen to what I say with the dial on the light. I have a feeling it has to do with "TTL" and I am not sure what "TTL" is. I read the little manual that came with the lights and am not finding anything I can identify to change.
I have the lights on "manual mode" and I thought that was what used the intensity I dialed in. However, there is also a Wireless-TTL setting, and the lights won't flash at all unless I have that set. There is also a TTL-M On and Off setting.

Too bad you can't change the power manually on the unit itself. It always goes back to the setting on the trigger, very inconvenient for my workflow.

My FJ 200 won’t stay in manual mode. When I switch it to manual, and I go to take the photo… It switches back to TTL

Is your trigger set to manual as well? Our guess is that your trigger says TTL and is overriding the setting of the strobe. Either way, contact our customer service if you have any additional technical questions.

@@WestcottLighting That’s exactly what it was. I have been using my FJ 400 for a few months with my trigger which was set to TTL and I always had to reset it on the actual light unit. I did not realize the trigger controlled the unit And that’s why it was defaulting to TTL. So now that I have my 200, call I learned the hard way that the trigger actually controls if it’s manual or TTL on both units

Does it work in harmony with the 400?

Can I use a xpro c trigger with wescott fj200

That trigger would not fire the FJ200, you would need to use the FJ-x2M trigger.

We have the following adaptor for mounting Bowens softboxes to the FJ200 - www.fjwestcott.com/quick-mount-s-bracket

@@WestcottLighting Just to be clear, is this the only method to attach softboxes that don't have an umbrella shaft? Does Wescott plan on making a switch adapter that connects into the 5/8 receptacle or what are the plans to suppor the native 5/8 receptacle?
