Come along for a ride on the blue train to ELLA. With my POV video you will see what to expect before and during the journey in the train and the views along the way. We were advised to go from Polonuvwa station instead of Kandy to avoid the crowds and get a seat - what can I say it didn’t work out that way. We managed to acquire two lovely seats after a couple of hours standing, some didn't and had to stand the full seven hour journey. After the heat, the pushing and shoving it was still a great experience not to be forgotten.

Colombo - Batticaloa. Colombo - Jaffna. Colombo- Ella. Colombo - Trincomale are some of the best rail journeys in the country that takes you to some of the exotic destinations in the country.
That's one of the reasons we visited Sri Lanka, our train journey was incredible.
Compartments are packed no seats. Beautiful scenery!
Yes, it was really packed, we were fortunate to get a seat after a couple of hours standing, the scenery was incredible, the whole experience was awesome, really enjoyed the all of the eight hours to Ella.

Beautiful train stations too! Look at the train personnel so nicely dressed. In India they will be in dirty tacky coloured uniforms. Sri Lankans have class.
Yes the station was really nice and just as it was 100 years ago, the journey was spectacular and super interesting, I even managed to get a look inside the junction box, it still has all the original signalling equipment, take a look at my previous video.

We paid RS 2000 to get a seat. That was complete waste of money. People generally don't mind swapping their seat to take turns standing.
I can see the British aristocrats riding these trains in style. The British left a beautiful legacy and the Sri Lankans continued with that. In India they only have hatred for the British so now everything is being built to be opposite to the British. So foolish. The PM of India is building a new Parliament building as he said the old one, a beautiful building, was built by the British. His new building is by a Gujarati architect and it is in the style called "brute" architecture. It is an incredibly UGLY looking structure. The PM hates the Taj Mahal because he says it is Muslim architecture. Instead of taking the best from other cultures....oh no!!
How can I emigrate to Sri Lanka? They treat their Christians well too!
