  • I test ride the 2023 Suzuki GSX-S1000 naked sportbike motorcycle around the city and on the highway to see how it performs. I give my first impressions on how the bike rides. I compare this bike to the 2023 Kawasaki Z900, even though this may be in a slightly higher class than that bike.

    My husband has just bought one and we swapped bikes the other day so I could take it for a blast (In comparison to my ninja sx1000) and I noticed, QS is smooth up and down, sport mode snatchy setting off but after that no issue, screen abit busy and not bright enough on a sunny day for my old eyes. I can touch the ground (not flatfoot) at 5’4” which is unheard of for me when trying bikes. I was up to 70mph on the twistys and not being punched by the wind. Exhaust quieter than ninja sx. Felt a lot lighter, flickable into corners. New bike so couldn’t say too much on breaking as pads are still bedding in.
    Hubby has changed the bar ends to a heavier weight and that took away the buzzing on the hands.
    Really comfortable riding position and seat.
    Not the biggest fan of the lights but it’s grown a lot on me. Great looking bike overall. Controls are not fussy. I’m pretty set on chopping in the ninja for this. Will put bar end mirrors on though as stock ones are ugly to me. Felt like a bit of a hooligan on this bike and loved it 😂 such a fun ride.

      Can i ask if you know what brand the new handlebars are. I definitely plan on upgrading them in the future.

      To be honest I went out on a demo day and rode the bike for two 45 sessions and pretty spirited for public roads and I didn’t feel the buzzing in my hands at-all but hubby seems to for some reason and these have helped him.

    Awesome bike! I have the 2023 gsx s1000 in black and love this bike. Screen doesn’t bother me and isn’t a factor for me when buying bikes. What does matter is reliability, fast and fun. Gsx s1000 does all 3 and then some.

      Maybe you can help me, what is the fuel consumption on these? I know it varies depending on how you drive. I am just looking to commute

      hey thanks for this comment, I am debating on this bike or the mt10, any reason to get this over the mt10, im also a shorter rider at 5'6 and heard the mt10 sits higher, have not sat on either of them yet.

    I love mine. The GSXS has 30 more horsepower than an indian ftr.

    I wish they would bring back analogue dial gauge for tach and keep digital for speed and other info.

    What do you prefer this bike the Suzuki or the Indian 1200 and how do they compare

    Great review, I tend to notice the same thing about the vibration too.
    Suzuki's naked bike vibration is a bit too much IMO compared to their competitors but I guess thats how they cut cost.
    You want to pull the throttle all the way but sometimes the vibrations are just a killjoy.

    The screen could be a lot brighter and a touch bigger.

      I own a blue 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000. The brightness is adjustable but its not exactly day and night difference. The screen is great in darker conditions, very visible and I really love the look of it. I don't even think its very crowded when its actually visible. However, in direct sunlight conditions you can only really hope to see the speedometer clearly. Anything else? Forget about it. Its easily the biggest letdown of this bike - I guess along with no cruise control. With that being said, depending on where you live (I live in Tromsø, Norway), direct sunlight conditions won't exactly be the norm.
      But yeah I agree, the screen should at minimum be significantly brighter. It should probably also be a bit bigger. If Suzuki understood the market better when designing this bike, they would've just thrown a 5,5 TFT on it and added a bit on the price, nothing else would have to be changed. I bet they would sell A LOT more of this bike.

      The dash suits the Katana for the retro 80s casio vibe; it doesn't quite suit the noughties streetfighter style of the GSX-S.
      I'm sure it'll be updated to the same cluster as the GT, or even the newly released 8s. It shouldn't bump the price as TFT are common place on many bikes these days.

      @k1mura92 Рік тому +1

      @@fortyfour1654 I get what you're getting at (the dash really seems to fit with the Katanas take on the retro genre), but you gotta consider this dash is on the vstrom, gsxr and so on too. But I think its pretty clear Suzuki won't be putting this LCD on any more bikes!

      @@k1mura92100% agree...the worst thing about it is, that Suzuki already has that TFT display on the GT, V-strom and the gsx-8...which is really a letdown not to install it to the gsx-s 1000 naked...😖

    • @k1mura92
      @k1mura92 8 місяців тому

      @@jurck8330 The gsx-s1000 and katana came before the GT and 8s. They will definitely only use their new TFT on all new bikes above the moped/dirt bike class going forward. But yeah, I dont personally care too much about the screen. Its not a big issue. But its the biggest flaw of the bike.

    I was looking into swapping from GSX-S 750 2019 model to this but then I saw in in person and.. why did they have to make it so ugly? 😂
