    This was, of course, superb and phenomenal and lovely and wonderful - such feel-good content while also being great advice.
    I have an absurd number of reps picking out why I like specific things about songs - I never really found anyone in my life to consistently want to do that other than you two - it's such a huge tip. I could digest an infinite number of videos from you where you walk through that on some of your favorites, and given the rarity with which I've encountered it among music fans and the sheer importance of it to songwriting and production, I strongly suggest going there.
    You know I love you two to the uttermost, and I'll be watching this multiple times.
    -Brandon I.

    Oh my god. This is amazing. Now I gotta organize everything, cause even tho I don't have a huge library I still managed to keep full packages of unusable sounds for my genre lmao

    It’s really encouraging to just sit and listen to you two discuss this stuff. Dreams and the industry can feel so closed off but these discussions make it feel more open and sort of re-align my thinking again. It’s a good reminder to know what I have the power to do and how to keep at it. Thank youuuuuu

    Do you have any suggestions for good free music producing software?

    • @LYREMusicGroup
      @LYREMusicGroup  4 роки тому

      I hear Cakewalk is free. Also Studio One is amazing and is rent-to-own on Splice. Not free but very affordable with monthly payments as opposed to dropping a few hundred $ on a DAW at once.

      LYRE Music Thank you. I’m not super dedicated to making music right now (I’m still in school) But I just wanted something that I could use that’s a little bit better than GarageBand

    2:24 are you able to just listen to music like a non-producer or do you always focus on those small elements?

    Is it bad to use samples that come with the software such as the thousands of sounds I get with reason 11?

    • @restlessmosaic
      @restlessmosaic 4 роки тому

      My non-LYRE perspective FWIW:
      "Bad" is the wrong way of thinking about it. If it sounds right for your project, go for it! How many albums have used an 808 or 909 drum machine?
      But don't *reflexively* insert them. If you use Splice, do a search for the sound in your head. Finding samples is a lot like buying a dishwasher; the first one might suit you just fine, but you'll know that better after shopping around and comparing features.
      Also, there is that higher percentage more - maybe like a 1% chance - that you'll hear that sample crop up in someone else's work; if you think that will bother you, then take extra care. Examples:
      There's an Edamame song that uses the same tribal drum loop I did years earlier in a song called Unsuffix that few people know; I think it was from a pack I got on deep discount.
      Madison Park's "All About the Groove" and Blu Mar Ten's "All Over Again" use the same sample in kind of similar house tracks, about a year apart.
      The Chemical Brothers' "It Doesn't Matter" and Aphex Twin's "PWSteal.Ldpinch.D" are based around the same rhythm loop. They're years apart, so it's unclear whether Aphex Twin was sampling the Chemical Brothers or whether they were inspired by the same old drum machine preset (the slight variations indicate it's probably the latter to me, but you can find a forum that rages on this pointlessly for pages).

      NO!! As long as it sounds good to you! I use a lot of Ableton built-in plugins and think they’re very good.

    You guys have been the best producers to teach me how to learn my craft and master it. I’ve only been doing this for a couple of years but until I found you two, I was lost. Thank you for this💕 ps: do you guys consider making production classes in the future? (Writing, producing, etc) because I would love to sign up for those and/or pay for them!
