- Did a 1:43.15 (PB of the day) while chasing down my buddy in the red Camaro SS 1LE. It was a 103dB day so I didn't have to lift going through turn 5 to 6. Unfortunately it's rainy season here in California so the track was slippery all day and damp in a few corners. Shelby has camber plates and 2-day old Michelin Cup2's, otherwise stock. Camaro has stock tires on the front and Cup2's on the back.

You only passed him because he got loose exiting corner and had to lift giving the Mustang a good run coming off the exit of the corner, other wise you weren't really closing much.

And that's GT350 came from way behind despite zl1 have 120 hp more than GT350. GT350 was design for truck racing and that's where it shines against other cars in the similar class. Nice run!
Len F thanks man! The Camaro was actually a SS1LE with 450ish hp but it’s capable of running similar laptimes against the GT350.
LMAO! The ZL1 walks the GT350 and the ZL1 1LE walks the GT350R. The lowly SS 1LE is the competition for the GT350.

To be fair the SS 1le driver almost spun the car on one of the final turns. Then it looked like he shut down.

I had a good battle with a gt350 in my non 1le ss. You guys really need more vents in your hoods! Looks like the air catches the hood and makes it look unlatched. good run!

I wonder how this would have went down if the camaro had 520hp like the gt350? I know how it would have went? Lol. And i bet the guy in the camaro isnt having to work as hard as this guy..he is about to wreck it in every corner!! Im sorry stang fans, they just arent that good for the money..i test drove one before i test drove my 2021 2ss 1le..was not impressed with mustang at all!! I would buy a Supra before i bought a mustang.

@@benjamin_qian get tired of all the mustang fan boys talking about how good the mustangs are! They are not that good!! I wanted another sports car..i drove a challenger, a mustang then the camaro..the camaro was way more connected to the rode and a blast to drive!! My first choice would have been a corvette but wanted a little more room..whenever i pass a mustang they go crazy trying to impress me or scare me i guess ..its ridiculous!! Mustang fans are a different breed..like they are so happy that finally ford has a pretty fast mustang..they act like nothing is faster or better and most have an attitude!! Like really? Stangs, camaros, and challenger and those family cars( chargers) are all about the same as hp and speed..the camaro is just more fun to drive and i dont have to rev it to the moon to get it go!! Plus that gt350 is almost 20k more than the 1le..it shouldnt have even been a contest for that much..
@@cnewell1971 now this is more genuine I'll give you that. Having driven both the GT350 and the SS1LE, I'd say they are two different animals. SS1LE felt planted, precise, almost like a German sports car. While the Shelby was sightly more lose, but more emotional, and more engaging (subjectively). There's def a cult culture going on with both cars, and Mustangs got the worse of it (maybe because its the most successful muscle car in American history?). Now in terms of the content and the way these two cars performed in the footage, there were too many variables to reach any conclusions... Tires, drivers, setups, etc... Apples vs oranges, pick your own poison :)
@@benjamin_qian yep..i love all cars..every make and model..i was dead set on a rc350 before i got my Camaro..then i asked myself..im i gonna be happy with a V6? I had a 2003 Acura Cl type S and i loved that car!! But i missed the V8 torque!! So i decided to go back to what makes me happy!! In all fairness i test drove the Bullit and i just didnt like it..it looked cool but it just didnt feel right..the challenger felt like a sedan with a big engine, not a sports car. When i get tired of falling in and climbing out of my camaro it will proly be a challenger or rc350..hopefully that will be awhile!
@@benjamin_qian I own a 17 Camaro I4 turbo FBO and tuned with a Spec stage 1 clutch and aluminum flywheel and a 17 Camaro 1SS...In my opinion if you get the 2.0t Camaro up to 350-400 hp it will likely beat the V8 versions around a track as it's the best handler in the Camaro lineup...It ripped my SS to shreds on a road course. Too bad not many people track the 4 banger.
