2:17 No. Wrong. Germany would face a huge economic crisis if it hadn't gone to war. It had financed its breakneck military buildup from 1935 onward with various unsustainable economic schemes. Massive borrowing, the MEFO-bills, spending all its foreign reserve, they were going for broke. Hjalmar Schacht, who was the minister from economics resigned in late 1937 because he opposed the enormity of the military spending, believing quite correctly that it would lead Germany to bankrupcy. Hitler and Goering also understood this, but were unlike Schacht in the knowledge that Germany would resolve these issues by going to war and plundering foreign territories. Adam Tooze did a great job of describing this in The Wages of Destruction. Maybe Germany would be able to hold on to Austria and Czechoslovakia, but after Munich France and Britain combined were putting at least as much resources into their own re-arming, and they had the resources to actually sustain the spending for many years. Without war the German economy faces a severe crisis in the 1940's, with the allied powers overmatching the Germans more and more each year. If they're bold they may try and pressure Germany into giving up its illegal acquisition of the Czechoslovak rump state. They probably wouldn't declare war themselves, but the rest of the 1940's would not be a great time for Germany.
First part is right, but France and Britain definitely were not putting as much effort into rearmament. Not even close. British defence spending did skyrocket, but France’s spending was so low that it was roughly the same as Italy’s. Combined they were still nowhere near germanys spending because as you mentioned they were putting just about everything they had to the military

I feel like a Video about the Treaty of Leipzig would be increadible. This treaty, in german know as the Leipziger Teilung (division at Leipzig), was signed in 1485 by the two brothers Ernst and Albrecht of Wettin, permanently splitting the posessions of the House of Wettin between the two lineages which would come to be known as the Ernestiners and the Albertiners, thus diminishing the at that time rapidly growing power of the Kurfürstentum (electorate) of Sachsen to a point from which it would never recover fully, thus opening the way for the later rise of Prussia. The holdings of the two lineages would only drift further apart, as time moved on, with the Albertiners ending up forming the Kingdom of Saxony way later, whilst the Ernestiners would splibter more and more until beeing the many small principalitys which would eventually be tossed together into the modern federal state of thuringia. And mind you, this happened at a time, when Saxonian power was strongly on the rise, due to grand silver finds in the Erzgebirge, the mountain range in Saxonys south, leading to the house of Wettin to, before the Split be almost rivaling the Habsburgs in power and it beeing speculated, that if the split never happened, they might even possibly have gotten the Crown of the HRE not too long after. Thus I can see a very interesting althist Scenario, where the split never happens and theres a big Saxony, which would grow over Time and eventually unify Germany instead of our timelines Prussia. I could also possibly see Saxony inheriting the Bohemian Crown in the 1500 instead of the Habsburgs and maybe August of Saxony might also still become the King of Poland Lithuania, or similar things. In any way, I think this would make for a really interesting abd entertaining scenario, that has unfortunately never been done before.

One possibility that I think could have happened that would lead to an Axis victory is if the British and French colonies had successful independence revolts right after the fall of Paris in 1940. How impactful and realistic do you think this is?
That might be worse for Germany in the long run to be honest. Especially if their hoping to be a global super power. Honestly, and somewhat tragically. As then they would dominate Europe, Africa, and the Middle East in a way I don't think Imperial Germany could of.
Please, do one about prepearing as well as possible for war with USSR. How could it look if German high command didn't assume Red Army will break after catastrophic losses and actually prepared for total war by means such as: -Carrying out Speer style upscale in arms production right after beating Poland and France. -Growing Ostbahn and rail gauge reconstruction units to extreme proportions in order to sustain full scale operations before and into winter 1941, without having to rely on captured soviet trains. -Not diverting resources into Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe from Heer. -Not bleeding out Luftwaffe over England and consolidating its forces instead. -Realising how dire fuel situation is and using it conservatively outside of effort in the East. -Turning down or at least concealing genocidal retoric and actions agains conquered people to limit partisan activities. -Understanding scale of wear and tear on both people and equipement in such large scale operation and preparing adequate replacements for both. -Coming up with an actual plan of ending hostilities instead of "We will beat their army, take Moscow and bomb Ural once a week and they will probably disappear". I’d go further and say even if the USA and USSR didn’t join the war, Britain and her Empire would have eventually won alone against Germany. Montgomery’s victory over Rommel wasn’t a fluke.
@@DominionSorcererand how exactly are they going to land on Germany? The US alone outproduced the entire empire by 3x. They simply would NOT be able to pull off a D-Day without the Americans. Funnily enough in contrast to a lot of other channels this one seems to be filled with Allies-fanboy. Amphibious invasions are one of the most difficult things to pull off, it's like saying Germany could do Sea-Lion Willy billy, it's a lot more complicated than that.

The Soviets were in the middle of rearmament with the plan to have semiauto rifles for every man amongst other improvements to their military.
good point on how the German forces closes to Dunkirk were not in good shape (its a similar situation to those Germans who could "see the domes of the kremlin" during the battle of Moscow), sure, maybe they could have struck the British at Dunkirk, but there's no guarantee that they would have been successful, even a victory could have been extremely costly for the Germans
I’m interested in considering the US-China-EastSoviet bloc via pacific supply lines. As much as we talk about the two-front German war, the US had its own double from… now it gets to have a single frontline, the Soviet front.
I hate when people go "well they could win if they just didn't fight everyone all at once" maybe (debatable), but you're not describing Germany winning WWII anymore, you're describing Germany winning many smaller wars, you've abandoned the central premise and are talking about something entirely different
Not to mention that the Soviets were gearing up to invade them anyway, regardless of the pact. So either way they’d have to fight on at least two fronts at a time.

Likely would recover after a decade, but it's unclear if the Nazis could stay in power.
First part is right, but France and Britain definitely were not putting as much effort into rearmament. Not even close. British defence spending did skyrocket, but France’s spending was so low that it was roughly the same as Italy’s. Combined they were still nowhere near germanys spending because as you mentioned they were putting just about everything they had to the military
i don't care if the video topics are similar, keep making the bangers people wanna see good shit my dude
The recent Indiana Jones movie had an interesting perspective: the villains are fascists who want to go back in time to ensure Germany wins… by assassinating German leadership as we knew it and taking over.
HOI4 gamers once they learn how incompetent the German leadership really was:
And then surprised that they ended up losing Germany even quicker.
Been here when you had less than 3K followers and these videos just keep getting better. you are a gem in alt history community
VIDEO IDEAS:
1) What if Greek culture didn't arrive in Italy and influenced the peninsula, especially the Romans, in Ancient Times
2) What if everything went PERFECT for Eastern Rome/Byzantium.
3) What if Charlemagnes Empire did not get divided following his death.
4) What if instead of Western Rome collapsing, and Eastern Rome surviving another millenium, Eastern Rome collapsed from the Barbarian invasions, and Western Rome survived.
5) What if the Antonine plague (Smallpox) that partially lead to the end of Rome's "Golden Age" didn't hit the Empire .
6) What if Rome conquered "Germania" (modern day Germany).
7) What if the "Business Plot" (also known as "Wall Street Putsch" was a plan to coup the US government and establish a dictatorship under General Smedley Butler, following the Great Depression, in the 30' ) actually happened and succeded.
25:06 oh that bottom one that makes sense is back. I figured that was just the working title for every modern empire to mess with people
what a timing with alternate history hub's video
In any way, I think this would make for a really interesting abd entertaining scenario, that has unfortunately never been done before.
how many drugs are you using?
What do you mean? The Treaty of Leipzig was a real historical event in German history and its impact is almost unbelievably big for such an unknown event

Germany was closer to victory in WW1 than in WW2
But they couldn't even stood a chance against British and American forces
No lol.
@@genovayork2468 yes especially if no US joins😂. There biggest weakness in both conflicts is diplomacy. Or better military strategy helps too. Also italy being in their side in 1 helps. 2 they are against most of the world
@@DillionMatt For 2. 1 was impossible and their biggest weakness was being braindead to start it.
@@genovayork2468 1 is way more likely then 2. Just play defense with France at first while going all out on Russia. That also prolongs the UK entrance into 1. Knock out Russia first. Germany in 1 had the economy to back it up unlike 2 especially if they hold Eastern Europe and no US entrance(no telegram and no unrestricted submarine engagements).
This truly is one of the ultimate ''axis victory'' videos for sure, great job on this one, it's almost fully comprehensive (concerning Britain specifically) and really interesting.
One possibility that I think could have happened that would lead to an Axis victory is if the British and French colonies had successful independence revolts right after the fall of Paris in 1940. How impactful and realistic do you think this is?
Suspectly right after Alt hub's part 2 video

I wonder if PH did this video in light of AHH's or if it's just a fun coincidence
What if everything went perfect according to Otto Von Bismarck?
1. No German scramble for Africa
2. No annexation of Alsace Lorraine
That might be worse for Germany in the long run to be honest. Especially if their hoping to be a global super power. Honestly, and somewhat tragically. I think the best way for history to go perfect for Germany. At least geopolitically speaking. Is for them to lose the first world war. And then win the Second. As then they would dominate Europe, Africa, and the Middle East in a way I don't think Imperial Germany could of.
Excellent series so far
Nice video, NOW WW1!
(But really cool video i would love to see one for Germany during WW1.)
Please, do one about prepearing as well as possible for war with USSR. How could it look if German high command didn't assume Red Army will break after catastrophic losses and actually prepared for total war by means such as:
-Carrying out Speer style upscale in arms production right after beating Poland and France.
Just throwing ideas that may not be realistic but anyways, loved this episode and im very curious what do you think about a scenario of Germany trying to prepare for total war in the East. (Edit-typo)

Many people forget the fact that the French could have, quite literally, ended the war in months by driving into Germany during the invasion of Poland. 102 French divisionsm, most being the absolute crème of the crop of the French army were going to face 20-30 low strength conscript divisions.
There was absolutely no situation where Germany actually becomes conquerer of Europe if the French drive on the Ruhr.

Whenever someone talks about Sealion, they always forget about the river barges on the large European rivers and the workshops that manufacture them. You can cross the channel in a river barge.
That still involves getting past the British navy, and I certainly wouldn’t want to go up against that in a river barge.
Is this related to the Alternate History Hub video?
I’d go further and say even if the USA and USSR didn’t join the war, Britain and her Empire would have eventually won alone against Germany. Montgomery’s victory over Rommel wasn’t a fluke.
wild dreaming
That's exactly it, because it's not Britain alone. It's the British Empire and all of its resources.
@@ЙованДобройевичь you’re a Wehrmacht fanboy I see. Meth is not the super soldier serum.
@@DominionSorcererand how exactly are they going to land on Germany? The US alone outproduced the entire empire by 3x. They simply would NOT be able to pull off a D-Day without the Americans. Heck even with the Americans if the Soviets hadn't taken up 75% of the Wehrmacht D-Day would be impossible.
Funnily enough in contrast to a lot of other channels this one seems to be filled with Allies-fanboy. So many factors went into the defeat of Germany that mistakes as early as 1940 could have changed the war drastically.
Amphibious invasions are one of the most difficult things to pull off, it's like saying Germany could do Sea-Lion Willy billy, it's a lot more complicated than that.
I agree, the German war machine would’ve collapsed under the economic pressure as the German economy had to cannibalise itself to afford the massive new war expenditure. I also think that if it came to it there would be mass conscription in the colonies too.
The excitement of seeing this video pop up in my notifications. Thank you sir!

Everybody but Germany magically disappears
Man in the high castle.
Well Stalin also believed that he could keep Germany passive by satisfying their material desires. He was a Marxist and thought all war was driven by desire for resources.
And ignoring the fact that Germany was very clear about the destruction of Bolchevism?
@@talesferreiralimadossantos8806he simply thought he had more time by temporarily pacifying the Germans with new holdings so that he could outscale them and invade in 1945 or so. Italy also planned to be war ready by 1945 so it’s not like he was the only one thinking it. The Soviets were in the middle of rearmament with the plan to have semiauto rifles for every man amongst other improvements to their military.

It’s unlikely, but not impossible.
good point on how the German forces closes to Dunkirk were not in good shape (its a similar situation to those Germans who could "see the domes of the kremlin" during the battle of Moscow), sure, maybe they could have struck the British at Dunkirk, but there's no guarantee that they would have been successful, even a victory could have been extremely costly for the Germans
The victory would have been bigger than any losses.
I’m interested in considering the US-China-EastSoviet bloc via pacific supply lines. As much as we talk about the two-front German war, the US had its own double from… now it gets to have a single frontline, the Soviet front.

What if everything went perfect for Romania [Request #8]
I hate when people go "well they could win if they just didn't fight everyone all at once"
maybe (debatable), but you're not describing Germany winning WWII anymore, you're describing Germany winning many smaller wars, you've abandoned the central premise and are talking about something entirely different
Not to mention that the Soviets were gearing up to invade them anyway, regardless of the pact. So either way they’d have to fight on at least two fronts at a time.
WWII was Great Britain vs Germany in 1940. Britain surrenders - Germany wins, extremely easy.
Why didnt germany just do deleteallunits_sov, deleteallunits_eng, and deleteallunits_usa?
do we need to consider the scenario that the war drags on till the 50s and either britian or the soviets ( without us help) get nukes?
