You know what’s funny about the current convergent pokemon. That there’s a water type that looks like a ground type and a ground type that looks like a water type.
Btw I just love the convergent croagunk line. Taking my spirit animal and making look like one of my favorite Sinnoh Pokémon is just something I would add to my team.
With Spiribloom I would actually suggest making it a Fairy/Poison. Not all Fairy Types that are plant-like have the grass type, as is the case with Florges. And by making it Poison you establish that this is a malevolent or trickster type of Fairy who will trick you into thinking its just a flower.
Artist here, the key difference is that Spiribloom IS a flower while the Florges line & Comfey are meant to be separate creatures simply holding or wearing flowers. I honestly don't see why another Grass/Poison type is so unwelcome considering we haven't had a new one since gen 5 (13 years)
Grass ghost has got to be neck and neck with the amount of grass poison lines at this point. Such a sick typing that hasn’t lacked a rep each gen since its intro in 6, meanwhile its somehow been over a decade since the last grass posion type was introduced (the hero and bane of my existence amoongus)
The scrafty one makes sense cuz birds are reptiles. They are part of the archosaur clade. (It features crocodillians, birds, dinosaurs and pterosaurs.)
I count Torchic. Blaziken is literally a cockfighting chicken. They have long legs irl and are obviously perfect for the typing and design philosophy for Blaziken. But I do love Scrafty and Scraggy, and this convergent evolution art, and love birds and reptiles so much that I don't mind repeat species of them. Honestly never minded repeat species designs of Pokemon because there are more than one type of nearly every animal or object or concept irl anyways.
I feel like he only got one part of that water electric exeggutor isn’t it also referencing eggs and clown fish in reefs. The electric type being what he mentioned about it referencing molecules
I like the tropius convergent more... I've been thinking what was the purpose having tropius back in s/v, when there are no status change, convergent, regional, paradox form, or new evo???they missed the opportunity to give it a mega evo long ago..the design are badass but still is weak..😒😓
Slowgunk and Mossicloak are definitely my favorite of the bunch. Gotta say though, there's nothing wrong with a Normal Type monkey Pokemon. There's only the Aipom line, so I don't know why that's a problem. I know Normal Types are considered by many as mundane, but not all Pokemon can be overly extravagant. Some walk so the others can run. Besides, do you know how many monkey Pokemon are Fighting Types? And you want more? I feel like you got the Normal Type to Fighting Type monkey Pokemon ratio mixed up, and I don't understand your logic if that's not the case.
Honestly Spiribloom could get away with being Grass/Ghost if you establish it's like... still an Odd Keystone as the "base," just inhabited by the flower instead of Spiritomb's souls. Also, Dodino could easily be a Paradox version of Doduo.
2:042:11 and 13:05 The part you got wrong is that the convergent forms arent adapting to look like the og pokemon. The both had the same external or internal pressures to make them adapt those traits. Specias A and Species B live in different environments or even the same but theh both adapt to their environment. Toxicroak grew a claw like thing to stab opponents with poison, while Mossicloak adopted the traits of those claws to crack open coconuts for example.
0:07 I’m sorry “feel like recolors” what?? They started off looking like “re colors” but even then they all had amazing designs and they all still have amazing designs!
convergent spiritomb could have been another opportunity for grass/fire. Take the sunflower motif but keep the ghostly face and make it fucking horrifying
It’s so wierd watching this guys videos, because I listened to the podcast(hidden power) first and had no idea what he looked like, and his voice is so familiar
I would be hoping for "Flacano". I know it sounds corny. But hey, at least it's like a convergent version of Flamigo. And their typing are Fire and Rock. Which would make sense that Flacano is based on a Flamingo covered in lava body and craggy armor that is harder than steel
I'm sorry how are A-Vulpix and Ninetales not colour swaps? Or A-Grimer and Muk Some get redesigned, some get recoloured. It's not a thing that's becoming more or less common in later generations
As someone who CANNOT draw my own pkmn for the life of me, it’s really easy to just use the original silhouette to create the new creature, and I love that so much because it’s simple and easy, so you don’t really have to worry about spending hours drawing a concept (especially bad if you suck at drawing) and allows you to focus on the concept of the pkmn itself, like what it is and why it does the things it does.
Lots of cool designs, but right now the trend seems to be that that new species is strong against the old (water > ground and grass/ground > water/poison). So Claggy/Scrachty would be flying/fighting to beat fighting/dark, no?
Interesting can you tell me more? There was a whole section where i started talking about coral but realized i didnt know what i was talking about so i edited that section out lol
@@DustyGogoatcorals are a group of marime invertebrate closely related to sea sponges and jellyfish that has developed an exoskeleton with which to defend itself. Some corals are filter feeder, but others asociate themselves with photlsynthetkc bacteria to obtain nutrients

You beat me to that point. I was going to say not all fairy pokemon need to be pink lol

"GF always give mushroom pokemon either grass or poison type" meanwhile Shiinotic and its line are right there
I believe the convergent Execcutes are based on insect eggs and fish eggs respectively. Seems like you didn't catch that
I still think we will get a mix of both Convergent Species and Regional Forms.
I agree they both have a role to play. Convergent species are just far more interesting imo
What like a Regional Toedscruel?
POISOTOMB Fairy/Poison
6:04 with wishiwashi's, it would have been a better fly or mosquito pokemon
Mosquito would have been terrifying!!
The scrafty one makes sense cuz birds are reptiles.
They are part of the archosaur clade. (It features crocodillians, birds, dinosaurs and pterosaurs.)
Spiribloom should be grass physic type
Pokémon a strange multiverse now. Only played the first 4 generations. Simpler times lol

“We have no chicken pokémon, i do not count torchic“ um but that’s a chicken pokémon 😭
I think the inseggutor is actually two pokemon the one on top is the head and the one below hides its face
they didn't evolve to look like the previous existing mon, they look alike because of casuality
My favorite is the Spidops convergent form 👍❤
And I also really like the gulpin/Swalot forms!
Scratchy is the chicken little Pokémon we all needed😅

Just a single word to describe this awesome video - Great mate
No no no…regional forms will never be out

Regional variants are not going anywhere
You wanna make so.e of my convergent pokemon design ideas I've had
Convergent watchog
Vulpix and Ninetales deserve convergent forms
YES what would you turn them into?
@@DustyGogoat DRAGON TYPES!!! 🐲🐉
@@DustyGogoat I would turn then into rainbow-tailed peafowls, with the females having shorter tail feathers.
Love when you upload
I appreciate it. Thank you for watching and supporting!
dusty googat is so handsome
you seriously changed the video name -_-

Yea that makes sense. But would it be a regional keystone? Or the flower is a convergent species because it takes the same form as Spiritomb..
2:04 2:11 and 13:05

The Wishiwashi convergent pokemon Mushimashi is just *chefs kiss*
Dodino could’ve easily been a Scarlet paradox, it’s too perfect imo
wow! amazing designs!😁 swalot as a dragon snake is my favourite👍
Maybe a convergent watchog based on platypus and divers
Exeggcule are fish eggs and the heads on ensagutor are clownfish hiding in this Anemone
It’s so wierd watching this guys videos, because I listened to the podcast(hidden power) first and had no idea what he looked like, and his voice is so familiar
Thanks for listening to the pod! How did you find it?
@@DustyGogoatRight when I started getting back into Pokemon, I searched for Pokemon on Spotify and you guys were the top recommendation

There’s such a subtle genius with Dodino.
Also, loving the setup! Gives me Zygarde vibes.
Hello gator
I'm sorry how are A-Vulpix and Ninetales not colour swaps?

Spiribloom should be grass/fire and have a color swap, I think the fire coming out the rock would be cool
that spider monkey convergent Pokémon line is amazing! I love it, so unique.
The evolution of my favorite Pokémon in the thumbnail?? SIGN ME UP!!!
sorry to say this the Gulpin & Swalot line here are not Convergent but mimicry
You should check out a convergent species of basculin and basculegion it's hilarious
What was the design concept?
@@DustyGogoat taking the word hogfish literally basically its a boar
I've seen some called Rasculin and Rasculobo that are Dark/Ice wolves that have similar facial features and body plan, but still look like wolves.

Slowgunk and mossicroak would fit well in a legends alola game
After seeing all these convergent species Pokémon, I hope that both parts of the scarlet and violet dlcs get more new convergent species Pokémon
Well, for an evolution of Dodino (Doduo + Dino) with Rock/Normal, how about Dodraptor (Dodrio + Raptor) with Rock/Dragon?
Coral are animals.

we dont have a chicken..... "torchic" literally has chic in its name and "blaziken" literally end in en like chicken lol

Which ones?
@@DustyGogoatdefinitely the cursola one, and the doduo
