James Read Tan Sleep Tan Mask Review

- I've tried many products from the James Read Tan line, and the Sleep Tan Mask has to be my favorite. I really like that this is a gel texture that absorbs quickly but doesn't leave skin looking oily or unnatural. I prefer the Sleep Tan Mask Go Darker version because this one works well with all the layers of skincare products I apply before this mask. That was my biggest issue with self tanners for the face area- most of them are a ho-hum formula but you must apply it to your face first (and sometimes alone) to get the full tanning effect. When I apply the James Read Tan Sleep Tan Mask Go Darker over three or four layers of moisturizers and serums I still get a beautiful natural looking tan. I also appreciate that this doesn't have much if any scent to it. The pump bottle is the only letdown as occasionally instead of dispensing the product it moreso ejects the product,

Great review! I’m very fair and actually love it, so I don’t really use any tanning products.
I have a question that you may be able to help me with. I’ve been wanting to try the Paula’s Choice 10% weekly AHA Treatment but it’s discontinued and the “replacement” isn’t as loved (the RESIST Advanced Smoothing Treatment 10% AHA). FAB’s having a sale that’s ending today and has a 10% AHA Resurfacing Liquid (I believe this can be used daily). Any suggestions?

I actually really love the FAB AHA serum, I was thinking about picking it up on sale as well. The newer version of the Paula’s Choice 10% Treatment seems more strong then the older version, and you’re right, I don’t like it as much. It’s actually so strong that I cannot use it every day like I could before. I’d say to go with the FAB serum. I’m going to get some too while it’s on sale. Hope that helps.

By morning time most of the sleep mask should be absorbed. Sometimes when my skin is feeling dry I'll just rinse my face in the morning instead of washing it, so you can always do that.
Have you tried the day face that says you get darker by the hour? Does it have spf? It says it is a mousse??
Yes, I have used that one, but I didn't like the formula of that one as much, but it does work for a tan okay, unless you're like me and end up applying a vitamin c serum, then a moisturizer, then SPF, and then foundation over it- it was too much layering for me to use during the daytime on a regular basis. That one didn't have SPF but it was a nice mousse texture which I find easier to apply. I'll have to review it still this summer.
No BS Beauty thanks for your quick reply!! I ended up taking a gander at my local blue mercury, and what they had in store was NOT what they had advertised online AT ALL! It was a gradual lotion. Nothing mousse like and CERTAINLY nothing about darkening by the hour and the name of my game is to get my pale self tall tan not so young and hopefully lovely like the girl from ipanema. I do the skincare layering thing in the wintertime (c serum by day, retin a by night and all the other imaginable things surrounding them), but come summer I’m faux tan and spf lol. So I’ll find me something else for daytime. Thanks :)
