  • Is Filipino food similar to Spanish and Latin cuisines?
We’re lucky to have several Filipino restaurants in Madrid. Now it’s time to share the Filipino food experience to Spaniards, Latinos and other foreigners living here.
Let’s find out what they think about Filipino food classics like lechon kawali, lumpiang shanghai and crispy pata at one of our favorite Filipino restaurants in Madrid, Casa Paco.
We also tried Filipino desserts in the Part 2 of this video: • Foreigners try Filipin...

Filipinos are the FIRST ASIANS to reach MEXICO and Latin America via Manila-Acapulco galleon trade in 1565, by the Spaniards. Filipinos brought the coconut tree, mangos to the Mexicans and showed them how to make the coconut wine (Tuba). Today, in the town of Colima, Mexico, you will see how Tuba became a popular drink there. The Mexicans mix Tuba with different kinds of fruit juices and selling them as refreshments. Filipinos also showed the Mexicans how to make the Bangka which the Mexican called the Panga.

Hi Pechay! Thank you for sharing this interesting information. Truly, Filipinos, Mexicans (and Latinos as a whole) are long lost cousins. It's inspiring to share a history with them, and also share a present and future through cultural exchanges through videos like this on UA-cam. By the way, I also heard that there are families in Ilocos, Philippines with Mexican lineage. That would be an interesting story to discover! :)

Filipinos 1st came to America On October 18 1587 through the Galleon Trade named: NUESTRA SENORA DE BUENA ESPERANZA. It sailed from Portuguese Macau, to Manila for supplies & countined on saling to California. The ship embarked at Morro Bay, California which is North West of San Francisco, CA. At that time, California, Portland OR., Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico & Texas was still part of New Spain (Mexico ). Fast forward to this age, in dowtown Morro Bay, California a plaque commemorating the history of 1st arrival of Filipinos to the Americas is being remembered.
FYI: Morro Bay, CA. is 3 1/2 hours drive from San Francisco, CA.

It is super cringy. I had to stop after the camarera was trying too hard to hype up the Crispy Pata or the Cringy Pata. How sad, Filipinos have to try so hard to make their food interested. Here is a simple solution! Learn how to cook Kare Kare and other dishes that have more character than those lame dishes presented. The First item was the Tragic Lumpia Shanghai, that look like bread sticks. On the start of the video, it was said that Madrid is multi cultural. Paradoxically, the people in the table seem to be very ignorant of Chinese food. What is so amusing about Spring Rolls? Every chinatown in Iraq and Malawi has spring rolls. What is so awe inspiring about Garlic Rice? Are Filipinos so unaware of what the average Filipino eats? They dont serve Garlic rice in 98.97% of places where the masses eat. They are amazed by Garlic rice in Spain? The Lechon Kawali, its Fried Pork. The Italians have been cooking that for centuries and every China town in Uruguay and New Caledonia has lechon kawali. But if this video doesnt have Sisig, I will give it 4 stars. I will continue watching. Please, let there be no Sisig or Adobobo.

Hi Eduardo, don't worry, we'll feature kare-kare, laing and other special dishes in future videos. On the other hand, people do want to see sisig and adobo and these are also some of our favorites :)

In this video, we only had 1 Spaniard. The rest are Spanish-speaking people from Latin America and France. So not everyone is Spaniard here :)
