    Dale is very good about knowing when not to talk. When he has a guest and they are on a roll, he lets them speak. Makes for an excellent interview. Well done.

    You can truly tell that cup drivers need platforms like this to freely vent their frustrations about their sanctioning body. If they did this on FOX it would cost them 100k.

    Clint Bowyer just said everything I’ve been saying for a long time: from the qualifying wrecks not happening, to spinning someone out on Richmond on accident being impossible because the bumpers line up. THIS is what NASCAR is missing. I don’t watch racing for wrecks. But wrecks bring a “wow factor”. Knowing a driver is on edge. The cars are too stable and the front and back bumpers can’t be both be square and lined up. Fix those things on the next car and you have something

      I don't want to see anybody get hurt, but I wanna see, bumpin and banging. I wanna see dirty racing. I want Attitude on the track again. Everyone's too nice. Almost every race someone would dump somebody because of something that either happened last week, or from something earlier in the race. Not anymore. Rivalry's are all but a thing of yesteryear.
      And I completely agree that the cars are too stable. Not only from a technical driving skill stand point, but as a fan. They are boring to watch. I loved watching the old in car cams and the driver fighting that car all the way around the track. Clints on the money. Make these things be able to actually spin out from simple mistakes. you have to activley try to spin these damn things out now.

    I have a brand new perspective of Clint Bowyer after this interview! Hello NASCAR, listen to this man! What's really sad is the Kids in their 20's driving half of the Cup cars love that kind of racing and they whine and complain about drivers racing them too hard with 10 laps to go. I say give the Cup cars the horsepower back, stop making every bumper on every car line up perfectly except for maybe the plate races, and stop aerodynamically shaping these cars like a state of the art fighter jets and the racing would get better! It's NASCAR not F1 or Indy car racing.

    I realize it would take longer, but why not do the Allstar qualifying lap+pit stop?? That would definitely bring back the competition for Pole Day. Maybe throw in a points/cash bonus on top of the pole award. Or make the Pole Award more valuable given the added pit stop time... just sayin... haven’t heard anything from that standpoint.

    Hell yeah the Bristol race was AWESOME!! I was there!! The rules package made the racing exciting with lots of lead changes. Yeah, the stands were half empty. The people that didn't go missed a great time! Due to the smaller crowd it was easier for me to get to the race, visit the vendors, get to the restrooms (important after lots of beer!), and get back home. I know it's important to the sport to fill the stands though.

  • @bwman1516
    @bwman1516 5 років тому

    Here’s my idea or suggestion. Combine single car and group qualifying. What i mean by that is have the normal order like in single qualifying and send them out. The tv deal wants it to go quicker so have one car go out, hold the next car for 5 seconds or 10 seconds or something like that and send them out to eliminate the time limit and holding everyone. They get 2 laps and their qualifying is done. If they have to do stages, have the top 12 do single qualifying completely after that round

    Boyer is 100% right on all this. Problem I see with most drivers now days is they can not drive the car beyond the limits. If the car is not damn near perfect they start complaining and they can't drive it. Back in the day the car's handling changed and the drivers would change up their driving and still be just as fast. That's how my driving was. Track changes the car changes I changed. Younger drivers now can't seem to figure that out. I say stock car racing is where its at not cookie cutter cars. If Nascar can't figure it out soon then people will not be at the tracks at all and may not be even watching the races on tv

    The problem is nascar is turning into F1 and every car looks the same other than color/sponsor. You also have people throwing their two cents in when they have never been in a race car or on a team. I have a championship as a crew chief in nascar and I have no interest in watching an entire race....not even a short track race. There are to many mike and a half tracks and frankly the fan base is literally dying off. The world has changed and nascar is not the first thing on people’s fun things too do list anymore. Make the races shorter,and a one day show. You show up unload one hour for practice then right into qualifying then race. KISS!!!! Keep it simple stupid.

      First time I've seen same-day race, practice and qualifying suggested. I could get behind that idea. 1hr practice like you said, then 1 hotlap single car qualifying, straight into a 200-ish mile race without stages. It'd make everything seem like a time crunch and create lots of suspense.
      Also gotta ask, who are you? At least a hint, like who you won the championship with or what year? Not too often you see a championship winning crew chief commenting on youtube.

    If you want to piss people off take the points as to where the driver is an invert the lineup. Do you want to get someone’s attention that’s how you do it

    There's noone in the stands because they charge too much at the gate now for one. Two, the only driver who isn't an all out sponsor sellout now is Bowyer... Once he's gone I won't even keep an eye on it anymore.... Meanwhile F1 and Indy are on a big rise in ratings and attendance in the US.
