3:05 - It's Cream's birthday! In an attempt to outshine the rest of the partygoers, Tails build her the Chao Walker from SA2 and Shadow gives her the Omochao gun from his solo game. How how much havoc will the bunny wreak? (I can only imagine poor Vanilla having a heart attack upon seeing the aftermath)
4:15 - In The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, Blaze mentioned that the birthday cake in Sonic's dimension is better than the cake in her dimension. That got me thinking: just how bad must the cake in Blaze's world be if she, a princess no less, expressed excitement over the prospect of having this dessert during her visit to Sonic's dimension?
5:40 - Kyubey from the Madoka Magica series approaches Surge with the chance to become a magical girl to fight witches in exchange for anything she wishes for. Anything. Assuming she's unware of the true nature of witches and Kyubey's magical girl system. Does she take his offer and if so, what does she wish for & how does it go? Thanks!
6:41 - A topic I see people discuss is the handling of adaption, which is how well the adaptation does f handling the source material it's based on. However, one conundrum I see often is the changing of certain plot points and how different it is from the original story, in which while I understand changing too much can be a problem, at the same time, I don't think that the adaption should be a retelling of the original story, at least from visual medium to another visual medium. So my question is, what think should be accomplished in an adaptation in terms of visual media, like a comic to show, and does it depend if there should be differences from what the original story told or would it be better for it to tell the mostly same story that it is based on?
12:58 - Knuckles, who is brawn over brains, inherited by blood an island all to himself and guards a powerful gem. He was easily tricked into joining Eggman, and he is the last living member of his kind. Starline, who is brains over brawn, inherited by force a base of operations all to himself and studied and lost a powerful gem. He admired and joined Eggman, although somewhat tricked by Eggman's showmanship, and he is dead while plenty of platypi are presumably still alive. If you think about it, whether intentional or not, Starline was actually a great counterpart and foil to Knuckles. Despite this, we've never seen them interact. Without giving away any fan ideas, do you think being a counterpart and foil to Knuckles in this way could warrant bringing him back? What sort of interactions would you imagine Starline and Knuckles having if they had the chance?
15:36 - I recently beat The Murder of Sonic and I loved the game, 100% recommend! Now let's say the same cast from the game gets stranded in a big tropical island and they can't escape by water since there are sea monsters lurking around, how do they survive? What's their escape plan? Who turns against who? What do they do for fun while they wait for rescue or for their escape plan to take effect? Apologies if this is a fan idea

26:30 - Okay so I was curious do you think the gameverse will ever explain where Shadows chaos powers such as Chaos control, chaos sphere, chaos blast, chaos snap come from? Since the chaos force isn’t canon did they just come from black doom or could it be a new thing that could be introduced in the future? Also this question is Kinda follow up but do you think a new character like Eclipse could help explain where these abilities come from or a new character if eclipse can’t be brought into the main timeline canon?

31:50 - Will we ever see more of Club Rouge? It adds another layer to Rouge as a character in my opinion, while also doubling as a really interesting setting that a lot of characters could use recreationally.
32:11 - I normally don't ask personal questions because that's not what I'm after when it comes to Sonic but this idea was too interesting to ignore so my question is this: If you were given permission to officially transplant something from Post-SGW Archie to IDW, which is to say something from that universe canonically gets sent to IDW and causes shenanigans, what would you pick and how would you play it out?
34:33 - What's going on with Sonic and Amy currently? Sonic seems to be kinda shy but not pushing her away like he used to (IDW comics especially). I heard the unused/unheard...? lines from Frontiers, I've seen the recent 5th-anniversary ri-a cover, and I read what the Frontiers director said about Sonic's love and what it has to do with Amy. I'm not so much asking about "oh, my pairing!" but more so wondering if Sega is actually leaning into making them canon. I would be shocked if this actually occurred.
35:21 - So, Sonic Frontiers really embraced the anime with all the inspiration from Evangelion. If you could choose any anime or manga for a new Sonic game to once again go all out on inspiration from, which would it be?
39:02 - It's time for a crossover question! In the red corner, we have the Legendary Wind Master, the arrogant young avian who's convinced he's Sonic's greatest rival despite all evidence to the contrary: Jet the Hawk! In the blue corner, it's the spiteful, lanky cheater who craves the acclaim and attention that the Mario Brothers get, which he's painfully aware he'll never have: Waluigi! What do you think would happen if these two D-list menaces met? And who would win when they inevitably get into a fight?
41:27 - If push came to shove, do you think Sonic’s current game and IDW portrayals could be capable of pulling off some of the downright CRAZY speed-feats the character demonstrated in the Archie Comics? Pre-SGW Sonic has done some ridiculous stuff with his super-speed. I guess I’m asking that age-old question… How fast IS Sonic? Or at least… how fast does he stack up across all these continuities, if there even IS a difference? Also, hello Kyle if you’re the one reading this! I hope you and Ian are having a cool day! :)
43:51 - So what's up with the Bomb and Jade Wisps? Are they a type of Nega-Wisp, or do they just look like that but aren't all snarly, or are they just goth...? I'm a bit at a loss when it comes to the little buggers.
46:13 - Since 2011 with Kirby’s Return to Dreamland, the Kirby series has developed a wide, series encompassing lore that ties plot points and stories from all across the series together. (Magolor implied to have met Marx from Super Star in RtDL, the Dimensional Mirror reappearing in Triple Deluxe, a “clockwork star” aka a Galactic Nova being in Planet Robobot, etc) I and my friends got very similar “Kirby Lore” vibes from Sonic Frontiers, with it constantly making note of and acknowledging past events, with the standout being The Ancients connection to Chaos from Sonic Adventure. As you’re someone known for trying to tie everything together, what’re your thoughts on how the Kirby lore is put together considering your work is fairly similar? Personally I think Kirby lore is a fantastic addition to the series that really rewards longtime fans without being super alienating for newcomers.

50:53 - In the Sonic Frontiers: Divergence prologue, Knuckles ends up on the Starfall Islands after discovering a cyberspace portal when he’s trying to help a nearby Chao. Was finding it a coincidence, or did Rouge bribe that Chao into luring Knuckles away so that she could take the Master Emerald? Did Knuckles get home after the end of Frontiers to find his island underwater? Wait, is that a spoiler for the DLC?!
52:27 - I really appreciated your answer to my question regarding Tails’ fighting capabilities and I liked your views on Tails. I want to clarify that I don’t think Tails should be overpowering opponents, I agree that it wouldn’t make sense. Tails works smarter, not harder. What I meant was that I’d like Tails’ fighting prowess and intelligence to be blended together. A nice balance of both. When he defeated Rough and Zomom, he didn’t use gadgets but he did use his smarts and physical skills. I’d love a longer and more physical fight that showcases both of these assets that Tails possesses and have him win. I know you said physical fights are what Sonic’s for, but why does he get to hog all the fun? Let Tails get that moment to shine for once. It’d be a nice taste of his incredible potential. Sorry if I wasn’t clear, last time.
55:38 - So.. to understand.. Tikal is dead. And during the ending to SA1, she and Chaos went to the afterlife… well, I read some issues of the Archie Sonic X comic, and there, Tikal offers Cheese to come with them and the other Chao..so..did Tikal offer to kill Cheese and drag his soul to the afterlife? Is Tikal the Chao’s grim reaper?!?

6:41 If you’re interested in this sort of thing, I recommend Dominic Noble, who has a series called “Lost in Adaptation” that delves into how films based on books differ from the source material, and if that’s to the films benefit or detriment. He’s also very British (not in the political way, thankfully).

Honestly, what got me into Tolkien back in college was listening to the unabridged audiobooks. They were so good and portrayed the characters well. He even did the singing! It led me to watch the films and read the books. Highly recommend!

Hi Ian! this is not a question but something i wanted to point out: currently when it comes to nega wisps, it seems that their main and only physical characteristic is that their colors are some kind of purple hue, which is kinda weird since now that requires defining what is a purple hue and what is not
you say Kirby is subtle about their crossovers but they have 2 Metroid references in games
6:41 - Generally speaking adaptations SHOULD do changes for two major reasons
1 Because the original story already exists, why make basically identical clone?
2 Because comic vs movies vs video games vs books are different from each other so they need to change accordingly, not to be inferior clones
But then you have "manga to anime" adaptations that are as faithful as possible, often near 1 to 1. And that's basically a different genre from other adaptations. I can't of anything else that tries something like that

Y’know, a really good example of an adaptation done well was the Death Note Musical.
Stop laughing, I’m serious.
Major changes made for time, including an entirely different ending. But still maintaining a number of well-known moments (i.e. The tennis match).
But most importantly, it takes the same themes from the original and explores them in different ways, maintaining that “Death Note” feel while bringing something new to the table.
I really would like to see the chaos force be used in the game's and sonic doing speed feats like that just to never use them again really said he was nerfing himself just for the story to continue 😂
To be honest, Sonic's speed limit is one of the few things I am grateful Ian doesn't have full control over. Sonic Team has always portrayed Sonic much faster than Ian would like and led to really cool stuff like regular Sonic beating Chaos (which required light speed according to Tikal back in SA1) or Sonic almost outrunning a black hole. As for the logical reason why these speed feats would be rare is because the damage it would cause to run at max speed constantly instead of localized bursts. Though that being said I do miss the Light Speed Attack.
I also miss the chaos abilities other characters used to have like Sonic's Sonic Wind or Knuckles' Thunder Arrow. At the very least their reintroduction would allow for getting more mileage out of a single emerald.

Sigh, that's a shame. I figured you'd think Base Game Sonic has surpassed Pre-Wave Base Sonic by now. Specifically due to scaling to Infinite/Null Space and the whole fixing reality in Generations. I can see the logic in wanting to keep things interesting/grounded so that rule of cool things doesn't make inconsistent moments on DC and DBZ level.
I saw a unnamed character in My Hero Academia that resembles Sonic with the same blue spike hair style, did you know anything about that?

Bean the Dynamite kills Eggman on accident and is in such dismay that he just killed Eggman he decided the only option is to become the Bean Man. Bean decides to put on a goatee, sunglasses, fangs hat and a lab coat. How much havoc does he reck after becoming the new villain of the Sonic the Hedgehog brand? Is he crazier than Eggman and what his The Bean mans dynamic with Sonic I assume Bean would take his role semi-seriously. What does Sonic say to Bean if he can't get on his nerves like he would with Eggman?
fusions might be one of the worse ideas to canonize from the chaos it would actually bring and tack on so much more stuff to manage with what's already there with it's own messes from unfortunate mishandling
Sorry if it seems like I'm beating a dead horse, but I think the S6 Squad should be saved from post reboot archie and integrated into IDW. Honestly, anything from post reboot archie is something I would love to see in IDW/the games, but I still feel Scratch and Grounder will always be the definitive Eggman/Robotnik badnik lackey duo. No offense to Orbot and Cubot. Still hurts though seeing Cubot trying to channel them in The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog.
P.S: I think Waluigi would work best teaming up with his buddy Wario and crossing over with Rough and Tumble in order to take on their respective enemies of the Mario brothers and Sonic and Tails as I've always seen Wario and Waluigi as being Mario's Bebop and Rocksteady, just like Rough and Tumble.

Sonic gets to choose the love of his life in The Test of Love in 06 and one of the 2 choices (and the one that makes the most sense) is Amy, Sonic accepts a date with Amy in Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and Amy go on a date in Sonic and the Black Knight, they flirt in the IDW comics, Sonic's monologues/thoughts in Frontiers are clearly not of platonic nature, "Wish we were sharing an umbrella Amy" when Sonic's sitting in the rain IS NOT something a friend would say but something more. Sonic and Amy are a thing, why is this still a matter of debate after all this time? The answer is literally and canonically yes, they are not "good friends", unless Sonic likes to take his friends to bed ☠️

Sonic and Amy getting/being together at this point in the timeline isn't fanfiction, it's one of the only 2 ways the 2 characters, their dynamic and their story can go forward, there are legitimate story and character related reasons Sonic and Amy should get a resolution or development in their relationship. The point of him not having feelings for her is FALSE, it factually is, I literally provided the receipts for the claim, Unleashed, Black Knight, 06 and Frontiers are concrete proof. You think Amy was one of the options for THE TEST OF LOVE out of platonic friendship? ☠️ You think their date in Black Knight (it's literally called a date in-game) was just a platonic visit to the cinema or something? ☠️ You think Sonic saying "I wish we were sharing an umbrella Amy?" is of platonic nature? ☠️ If you do you're delusional friend, I'm sorry, plain and simple. I don't care if your name is Nathaniel Sega, you've also been wrong about Sonic. We all make mistakes, we're all wrong sometimes, Ian's wrong here and I proved why with factual, canonical counterarguments, simple as that.
