Gatsby! Saw it on 8/4 and was blown away. Had tears in my eyes multiple times and just smiled throughout. Also saw Moulin Rouge and Cabaret and loved them too, but Gatsby was my favorite!
great guide! I'm not really a broadway person, but I'm gonna force myself to watch the Great Gatsby, Wicked and Back to the Future. It's my first time in New York, and I want to do the shows to see what they're like. And the pizza too!
Last weekend was a 4-show visit to NYC and we picked a great lineup! Kicked off with The Wiz. Great performances, fabulous costumes, dancing was awesome. Lottery tickets for Water for Elephants. It was on our list because we’re Izzy McCalla fans, had no expectations. The show blew us away, especially the circus choreography and acrobatics. The puppetry was phenomenal and I’m not one for artistic interpretive dancing but this one part in particular was beautiful and extremely moving. Saturday night was The Great Gatsby. Those voices!! The costumes! The acting! And one of our favorites, Sam Pauly. Sunday matinee was Suffs and we LOVED it. Highly engaging, inspiring, great story, clever lyrics, fabulous voices, can’t wait to catch it on tour, whenever that is.
What time/how early do you need to be at the box office to get rush tickets for The Great Gatsby? I'm hoping to see it on my next trip! I'm so torn between seeing a new show: Water for Elephants, The Outsiders, or Notebook vs. a show I've seen before but I want to see again: Moulin Rouge, Six. Which shows should I see? Wish I could see them all but I can only pick and see 3 shows.
Search r/broadway for the Rush Report! It will give you realtime info how of early folks are showing up! And def see a new show :) People go wild for Outsiders! If you're game for a weepy time, go see Notebook. All 3 of those shows have their devotees for sure. Have you seen Suffs and Gatsby?
@@itskatharinequinn Thank you! I haven't seen a lot of the new shows yet including Suffs and Gatsby but I just caved and bought my Gatsby ticket!! I can't wait to see it!! Is Suffs good? What is it about? Hopefully I can also get rush for Outsiders and Notebook!!
Nice rundown (no Cabaret mention, though??)! Just headtilted at "GenX or even Boomer" which I assumed was heading towards "Back to the Future" (or "Heart of Rock and Roll" before it closed). The Tommy album came out in 1969, when the oldest GenXers were in preschool. The Who is peak Boomer. As one of the couple dozen people in GenX, it is puzzling that it we're even remembered, we're made out to be decades older than we are. Oh well, whatever, nevermind - to quote actual GenX music.
Hi Katharine, I will be visiting New York for the first time in September 2025 (nexy year) and I really would like to see a broadway show. Which one do you recommend? As it is very pricey, I would like to make an informed decision as to which one I can see.
I'm in NYC for an extended Broadway weekend checking out Moulin Rouge, Gatsby, Outsiders, Hell's Kitchen, Back 2 the Future and & Juliet all front row center seats. That's a good mix of Jukebox Musicals, and big Broadway Spectacles. I loved Outsiders and didn't think I would - although I kept getting hit in the face with that gravel stuff. Moulin Rouge was something - I didn't like the Can Can section because half the time all I saw were asses and up their skirts. And you spend half your time twisting your neck just to see everyone's backs. But all my table mates were awesome to meet. Only thing I didn't like about MR was eventually all the pop mashups just got tiring. I didn't need 7 and 9 song masshups. Just do 2 or 3 and go to the next. I wish I did Water for Elephants instead of MR. Not that MR was bad or anything. But I've seen the movie several times and this doesn't stray to far from that. Whereas Water for Elephants would have been new.
Go see Tammy Faye!! The new Elton John and Jake Shears musical opening in November. A fantastic original show with the best new score in a very long time. I loved it so much in London that it's the first show to get me to NYC in years. It's very funny and a fabulous leading lady
I loved Suffs. Best this season. Agree on & Juliet. It’s a blast. So much fun. Not interested in seeing The Notebook. Hell’s Kitchen is good. Seeing The Outsiders soon, but also looking forward to Table 17 off Broadway. Already have tix to several incoming shows. Guessing you will name some in your next video on upcoming shows.
Plays are tougher only because the runs tend to be much shorter, so this video would practically be outdated by the time I edited, BUT I'm making a Fall Broadway Preview that will include plays :)
What's YOUR favorite show on Broadway right now? ⬇
Cabaret. Love the approach and the pre show.
illinoise was so moving
just getting into musicals but "Sweeney Todd" is stealing my heart. "Cabaret" and "Six" Are on the list as well.

I know it’s a play with music, but I’m obsessed with the Stereophonic album and really want to see the show before it closes on January 5th!
Masqueraaaaade!

My favorite show on Broadway is Hamilton and six
My love for musicals is just starting, ¡and this is just what I needed! Thanks for the video 🥰
Ahhh welcome! There is SO much to fall in love with!
Yes I love and Juliet
It's definitely jukebox candy!
Any comments on Hadestown? You said it was emotional, but any other comments?
I love it! Incredible set, gorgeous music, gorgeous story. A modern classic.
@@itskatharinequinn Thank you for your response.
How about MJ?

Where can I buy oficial tickets for Gatsby???
Hello Katherine, Do you happen to know what are the best seats in the house? Thank you for the educational video. 🌹🙏🏽🌎🇪🇨

Not interested in seeing The Notebook. Hell’s Kitchen is good.

May not be the one you expect :) And right? Wasn't Suffs great?? Really enjoyed it as well.

If I hear, “if dad…” I’m gonna be sick
