Hi Paul, and thanks for checking out Voice of Baceprot! They are from a small village in Indonesia and who they are and what they are saying is as important as what they play. They are the very first rock/metal band to reach the world stage while wearing/practicing hijab (Islamic modest attire/conduct). As such, not only are they representing women, they are also seen as representing their country and their religion, so they are carrying an immense responsibility rarely seen in this music genre (and along with that comes intense scrutiny and, of course, some criticism). Their bravery and conviction to continue the path they have chosen is hugely inspirational and is opening many eyes in both East and West.
