The Piano, his powerful vocals , presence and the simple yet effective way the video was filmed reinforced the "Dark' theme of the song. I don't think he was wearing contacts just the lighting made his blue eyes look darker/black 😉
I love Eriks versions and what a phenomenal voice he has. His version of Dolly Parton's, then Whitney Houston's cover of I Will Always Love you is the best I've ever heard and now THIS beats that Imo. Outsanding!

This interpretation of his left the same effect on me. I didn't want to write about this publicly, but now I have to, because Erik doesn't hide it and talks about it himself. I appreciate him extremely because he is a great fighter in life, he fought for 3 years with leukemia, had chemotherapy, and during all that time he sang as best as he could and fought with songs, and fortunately, he won. Erik has an absolutely amazing voice and is an incredible person. This version of House of the Rising Sun is my favorite. The song is actually very old...early 1900's or later 1800s. No one knows the actual origin. The Animalvecover is the most famous version, though. I wish more people would find Erik's version
Nothing has EVER come close to The Animals version for me, ever. Until now. I still prefer their version instrumentally and composition-wise, but vocally, this just hits the spot. I would love to hear Erik singing it with the og track; that would be perfection. But this is pretty damn close to perfection.

Have you really heard the original? It´s an old folk song, way older than the Animal´s version in 1964. By the way, Dylan did a great acoustic version in 1962.
He had cancer 2021and joined Skid Row 2022. It was only six months after his bone marrow transplant. He got a new immune system, it made him get sick easily. In addition, he made frequent checks at the hospital in Sweden. All this caused him to leave Skid Row in the spring of 2024.
Disturbed have their Sound of Silence. Dan Vasc ... his Amazing Grace. Now Erik has House of the Rising Sun. Absolutely incredible. He owns it now. 😊
