My kind of video Kim, I love abstract stuff, I do a lot of ICM and Multi Exposure photography, and recently have been really focused on creating abstract images and I can only agree with your comments it opens up a whole new world and I would urge your viewers to give it a try. Just love the image of the beach huts at around 3.16,thanks for sharing some amazing images.
3:32 I use tilt shift lenses/ I found stairs like this, leading down to the beach. I set an exposure for the purpose and ran the front lens element up and down, making an exposure each time. The result is a combination of sharpness and blur. Sharp where the stairs had vertical lines.
Good timing with this one Kim. I recently came across this in my camera club but don't know how it all works so I am looking forward to your future video's on this technique. My fave one was the first one of the beach huts with the sea behind them.
Hi Randy, you can find the how to in camera video via the link below. I plan to do the on computer video soon too: ua-cam.com/video/5gSBfoNRxXE/v-deo.html
Hi Kim, I hope you're keeping well. I wasn't quite sure about combining multiple images and how they would look and what kind of message you would be wanting to send. I've just seen your video with a mug of coffee and, hopefully, a chocolate digestive; I've just seen the packet hiding behind a speaker so here goes. Your video was inspired, Kim, and I see the potential as conveying different thoughts based on one idea; like a visual, 'reading between the lines'. I see the potential in my own photography and once I retire (in less than two weeks) I will have more time to explore this genre. Good video, Kim, come at the right time. Yes, please do follow up this theme with supporting videos. PS Like the shoes. Paul, Sheffield.
Ah - that's the kind of thing I was trying to do at Findhorn. And also at the Bullars of Buchan with the white birds. The processing is not easy! (See also Pep Ventosa technique, and Day to Night Photographs??)
Imagine a camera on a powered panorama head (Syrp Genie II for example), rotating back and forward, pointed at you during your wrapup. It could be set for sharpish photos, or blurred. Then combine some later, perhaps with some where you are absent. So many possibilities, even with just ten shots.
I've seen this in some advertisements. This is cool. I'm guessing that you have to do this in post and not in the camera body itself. I am eager to learn this one. Thanks Kim!
Those images have sold me on the technique, Kim, and I'm looking forward to learning more about it and giving it a try. I'm always open to new ways of connecting with the world through my photography and this looks like it could be an interesting and creative way to do that. And a bit of fun too! Thanks for sharing your new discovery with us.
I’ve done this with film cameras, but never considered doing it digitally. I look forward to the future videos with details on the logistics. Combining it with ICM is such a creative approach!
Awesome images Kim and great video! I have tried taking a few ICM images already after watching your video where you said you tried it, and I was like wow this is different and pretty cool.
i am very much interested in this, Kim. I have tried this in the past and find that multiple exposure images create /pull together "a story" within them. Looking forward to your next videos.
Thanks Kim for sharing your photography techniques again...I have never tried this type of photography but is seems very artistic & interesting....I will be interested in your future videos sharing the process..... cheers from Australia 😀❤️
Hi Kim, I recognised the beach huts and the beach straight away as we were there in March. A very interesting video and look forward to seeing your next one about this subject. Has one of the huts still got a seagull painted on the wall and also is the lizard with the sunglasses still there ie the log. Unfortunately we didn't get to see you as you were not well. Cheers, Tim.
One of the things that I like about your channel is the enthusiasm with which you embrace new ideas. Mindfulness, ICM and here multiple exposure. I look forward to your tutorial on the technique. The more tools we have at our disposal the more likely we are to create great images. The key is to choose the right approach to suit your photo objective. Thanks for he vlog.
Thank you very much Keith. I agree! All subjects have the ability to be beautiful images. It's up to us as photographers to capture them in the way we feel tells their story the best. 😊
Hi Kim. I find the concepts that you introduce to us here very interesting and I can see the potential for my own photography. Thanks for sharing your new skills with us. Stu 😎
Looking forward to learning multiple exposures. My mom was from Edinburgh and her mother was from Stonehaven. Have you done any videos from either location? Unfortunately my last trip to Scotland was before I became smitten with photography. Great videos!
@@kimgrantphotography thank you for taking the time to reply. I do appreciate it and your videos. Nice to hear your beautiful accent. Miss it since mom passed.
Hi Kim, multiple exposure photography is not really a technique, more of a post-processing step. It may change how you think about your composition for the photos you have in mind of layering together, but the actual technique of capturing the individual exposures does not change. Now ICM is a good example of a photographic technique. I applaud your use of ICM exposures into your multiple exposure images!
Nice to read your take on things Alex. I do all my multiple exposures in camera rather than on the computer. I prefer this as I like to see them being layered on the back of the camera in real time in the field. I therefore see the way I do it as a technique. I may do the post processing multiple exposure editing in the future. For now, I love creating it in real time ☺️
for so long I've been stressing over getting very sharp images. I'm not sure this is for me. ( maybe I'm just a grump!) I've only done one ICM photo. With that said, I love your videos. they make me think about photography is so many different ways and from angles I'm not accustomed to. Makes me learn new stuff! Keep doing your videos! They're fun!
Lovely images of Exposure Photography. Will look at for you next video on the subject. Thanks for sharing Kim.
Can't wait! Very creative images you shared.
I did multi exposure by mistake once in the film days, I kept the photos so now I'll look at them in a different way lol. Thank you
Thanks for taking this avenue on the creative photography highway.
New viewer, well worth the time. Thank you from the US, Kim!
I love the artistic side of photography, and this looks like fun!
I really loved the beach houses with the ocean reflected off the walls. 🎉
Can't wait to see your future videos!!!
Another feature for your photography tool kit. Nice photos, nice vid.
I really like practicing multiple exposure. I will watch carefully your next videos on this subject. Thank you very much Kim

Depends on your camera Jon. I do mine in camera. Not all cameras have this option though and many people do it in post
look forward to the tutorial!
I love your enthusiasm (and your accent)

Awesome images Kim and great video! I have tried taking a few ICM images already after watching your video where you said you tried it, and I was like wow this is different and pretty cool.
It'll be interesting to see how it's done on digital. A freind and I use to do this with film quite a bit, quite awhile ago.
i am very much interested in this, Kim. I have tried this in the past and find that multiple exposure images create /pull together "a story" within them. Looking forward to your next videos.
Yes, Caroline! It's so beautiful. I love to see different elements of the scene together in one image.

The seagull is still there. Can't say I've seen the lizard on the log though. Sounds like you had a brilliant time Tim 🙂
I did do it with film ,but didn’t know you could with digital. Any advice on type of cameras needed.
This is a true artist

Looking forward to learning multiple exposures. My mom was from Edinburgh and her mother was from Stonehaven. Have you done any videos from either location? Unfortunately my last trip to Scotland was before I became smitten with photography. Great videos!
I have a video from Dunnottar castle which is near Stonehaven. I do not have a video of the town itself I'm afraid
