I just watched Thomas Heaton's recent video where he shares some attempts at ICM. He mentions you and adds a link to your channel. He suggests looking at your ICM work. I am so glad he did. Wow and fantastic come to mind right off. I subscribed after about three minutes. I really like this whole concept and you prove that the results can be wonderful. Thank you for posting this type of video. Thanks, Thomas, for pointing me in Gary's direction.
Well, what coincidences! I began doing multiple exposures over forty years ago after admiring Sam Haskin’s work. It was always doubles, pushing in the clutch to prevent winding on while recocking the shutter. When digital came along the heavens opened! Also with mirrorless cameras, seeing through an electronic viewfinder meant that with ND’s the light gain eased the process immensely. The second coincidence and the added “fun” as you rightly describe it is the ICM, I’ve been at it too since about 2000 and also the influence from Turner, I exhibited one of my works a while back with the title: Turner’s La Guardia (referring to a small town in Northwestern Spain and its harbour in the mist). The third one is the Really Right Stuff ball head! For street fun I always have a variable ND on me and a memory preset to 50 ISO and the shutter at 1/4 so I can quickly, or should I say slowly, follow people’s movement. Bikes and umbrellas work wonderfully. Anyway enough chatter. Thank you so much for sharing your technique and work with others. Never a dull moment,eh? 😂
Beautiful images - just stunning! I was lead to your channel by Thomas Heaton who I just happened upon - his video was wonderful and yours is as well! Love all the tips and tricks. Very inspirational. New things for me to try 👍
I’m a photography student and I had a play with my settings which made ICM photos. I thought they were so cool. Thanks for going through the process. Your outcomes are amazing!
Brill vid, fam. I used to do icm in the film days. Got turned on to Olga Karlovac, then found your channel. Fantastic shots. Thanks for reminding me how cool this is...
Very good info there Gary and will be heading to my local woodlands /canal to try. Especially intrigued by in camera multiple exposure, that is a technique I will definitely be trying. Thanks a lot.
What a funny technique, I will definately try this tomorrow or the next day. Your wonderful dialect makes me wanna hear one of my fav. bands: Big Country.........Greetings from Denmark
@@GaryMcIntyrePhotographer no probs hoping to do a bit myself as another genre. Really love ICM and how it can produce a completely aesthetic. All the best. AL
I use that feature all the time but it boggles my mind that Nikon decided to give us the final blended image in jpeg and not RAW like in their dslr's, Great video btw; )
I loved it Gary really interesting photos not ever done this myself but I guess I’m going to have to give it a go never really had much trouble getting a blurry image so doing it on purpose can’t be that hard thanks very much for sharing as always really appreciate it.
Love playing like this, I too have an impatient dog, a noisey, terrier. Has been known to nudge camera or sit on my macro subjects 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🥸
Is the bridge in the multi exposure at Ayr? I have been starting to try some ICM, and thought it interesting also to see the use of multiple exposure. Thank you.
Hi Gary - great photos. the use of color, texture and patterns are exceptional. wondered what shutter speed, aperture and ISO you tend to use? also, since the shutter speed dramatically effects blur do you use shutter priority when exposing the image? thanks in advance for your response.
Thanks for watching Clyde. It all honestly depends on the light for them, iso is usually 100 though. I'll also use a 3stop Nd if a really bright day to try and keep my shutter speed between 1/4 and 1 second. And yes is can be done in shutter priority although I tend to stick to manual. Hope that helps 😁👍
I love your work and ICm Concept. Unfortunately i profit only half of it beacause I am unable to understand your Scotish. I respect it but for me this is a bit frusutrating. However I your work is outstanding.

Great demonstration for ICM, and very crescent.
some great images Gary ! and interesting thoughts and insights
Your focus and zoom rings can also be used for the motion. It’s also interesting to split the exposure between steady motion.
Cannot believe I missed this video of yours 😮... Superb. Not instructional, but inspirational.. thanks again 👍🙏

Many thanks for watching Rob, glad you enjoyed the video😁👍👍
Cool images Gary, I do a lot of ICM, just did my own video too, Thanks for sharing good to see how other photographers use the technique.
Great video Gary. I tried out your technique with just shutter speed!
Inspirational! But where is Multiple Exposure? How to do it. I saw only ICM.
Brilliant video, really inspiring 👍🏾
beautiful work
Thank you very much and thanks for watching 😀👍
Fantastic pic’s. Question when doing the ICM do you turn your IBIS off?
Great vid thanks for that. What was the app called where you showed your photos and they were in vr walls. Thanks Gary
I use that feature all the time but it boggles my mind that Nikon decided to give us the final blended image in jpeg and not RAW like in their dslr's, Great video btw; )
Yeah I know what you mean. Got to admit if I want the Raw I use the mean blend in photoshop. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching😁👍👍

Very nice and creative, Gary. What kind of shutter speeds do you use for these ICM effects? Thank you!
Thanks again for watching Jorge. The shutter speeds vary usually around 1/4 to 3 secs and I'll also use a ND6 at times. 😁👍👍
@@GaryMcIntyrePhotographer Thank you!

Seen video twice. How do you get this blur kinda effect while shooting/ photographing? In post, it still can be done.
Thanks for watching, just by moving the camera in small incriments around your focus point.
@@GaryMcIntyrePhotographer detailed video explaining ' moving the camera in small increment around your focus point'.
Great work, love it! What is name of photographer @ 3:10 ?
Gary’s referring to one of the greatest British landscape painters from the 19th century called J.M.W. Turner of the Royal Academy of Art.
Is the bridge in the multi exposure at Ayr? I have been starting to try some ICM, and thought it interesting also to see the use of multiple exposure. Thank you.
Yes it is, its the millenium bridge at the end of the beach near doonfoot. Thanks for watching 😁👍
Are you using an ND filter?

Sorry who is the Photographer you are a fan of.
Thanks for watching, for the artist it's JW Turner👍
Great pics but I don‘t get this dialect. Sorry. Would be very interesting.😬
Thanks for watching. It's south west scots. Some folks have put the CC's on to help as I do understand it can be quite difficult 😀👍
Good God what language are you speaking please provide subtitles in English.
Such a pity, I can’t follow the dialect.. Please Gary, next time try to speak more English and i a way we can understnad. Thank you.
Thanks for watching it's appreciated. You could try the cc and see if that helps with understanding.😀👍
