Alright I get that RE3 let down some people but comparing a DLC to a full game isn’t truly fair. RE3 remake still had way more original work put into than this DLC did. Let’s not blindly put other content down now.

The new Separate Ways blows the original version out of the damn water. We get a ton of scenes with Luis and Wesker, new puzzles, a more capable grappling hook, new charms, more treasure, new weapons, expanded lore, new cutscenes, new boss fights, new areas, and greater cohesion with the main story. The remake version is also more focused on horror and atmosphere than the original was. 10 bucks is a steal for this DLC.
I couldn’t believe how long it was. I expected them to just copy paste the original version, it far exceeded my expectations of what I anticipated. The remastered version of the serenity theme brought tears to my eyes.
Only downside is when the servers go offline, you will only have the physical disc to play the original remake way. I got the original on ps2, but the tank controls are silly af lol

"But if he had the necessary ingredients to make the medicine in the castle, why he did it?" Simple: in the heat of the moment he became desperate and didn't think straight, like most of the people would do. "but Ada was against his decision and later supported him in creating the medicine" Simple: she also needed the medicine and understood Luis' determination to save her, Leon and Ashley

The reason why Luis ran through the fire is because Ada was pressuring him to get the Amber. And about Wesker, it's because he's hiding in the shadows. Wesker always lets someone do the job for him. Since Ada betrayed him, he had no choice but to do it himself.
Yeah, he was already delaying the Amber retrieval and their extraction with his detour and testing Ada's patience. So I think it's kinda understandable if he panicked upon seeing his lab up in flames and he thought he could make it in and out with the medicine
Yea I agree! At least the medicine that was destroyed in flames was already made, like he would just get it then done and move on getting the amber, that's why he ran into the flames. While if he would make another batch, they would have to get into the hassle of collecting all of the ingredients around the castle. Time is very important for them as he was already pressured by Ada. I guess Luis's reaction is pretty normal, considering their situation.
Yeah, Wesker doesn't really wants to get his hands dirty, so he just sends people to do his work for him. People who he doesn't really care about either and can throw away at anytime. He also made sure to get Krauser just in case Ada betrayed him. Ada betraying him wasn't a loss too. It was more of a test to see if she wants to be with him while doing... you know, what's gonna happen in RE5. Damn... imagine if Ada was in RE5. That'd be really interesting.
I love the twist with the Black Robed Verdugo being U-3 a nice reason to involve a character previously left out of the story in the original and bringing back a cut boss fight.
I actually don’t mind the Luis Fire section. The game did a good job at setting up just how much Luis wanted to make amends and help save Leon, Ashley and Ada from the infections. It makes sense he’d panic when the medicine is being destroyed and have a lapse of judgement.
Plus, ADA suggested making more. Obviously Luis knew he could. But what he wasn't capable of doing was collecting the ingredients at a rapid pace while also securing the Amber. Once Ada said that, he knew he could ask her to help.
Separate Ways actually made me like Ada Wong. I never gave a damn about her in any of her previous games either and this DLC humanized her character a lot. I feel no shame when I say this was SOOOOO much better than the original DLC. The original SW wasn't even that good. It was a cash grab to sell the PS2 units and have to pay the game again if you owned it on Gamecube. I have no regrets paying 10 dollars which is surprising considering how much effort was put into the DLC. Not to mention, Lily Gaol won me over with her voice acting and I think she is my favorite iteration of the character. Don't even get me started on Luis. There is NOTHING that the original counterpart did any better than the remake version of Luis. He is now one of the best characters among the franchise. The only thing I was a little bit disappointed is that Ashley had only one new line in this DLC and she didn't talk with Ada much. I wish she could have helped Ada progress to save Leon rather than standing around doing nothing.
This is the new gold standard for DLC in my opinion. 5-6 hours on first play through for 10 dollars is an amazing value. Plus it enhances Ada’s character, Luis’s character and the overall context of the story as a whole. I’m not even gonna say I hope publishers take notes, because I know this is an anomaly and we’re gonna get a bunch of shit before more good comes out.
I think Wesker has his own agenda going to the island. See, there is document that is shown in the laboratory near Martinico that Martinico and Krauser are the only living being that has experienced and survived the experiment of the Amber, written by Anabella, a head researcher of the Amber. I think without going there, he probably would never know that fact. That is why Krauser is the most suitable replacement if something went wrong with the amber. If anything, it adds more context why he specifically obtained Krauser's body instead of Saddler or Mendez.
I loved the dlc, what a great expansion and a very well made final goodbye to RE4. I always thought Ada was pretty cool, but what really made me look at her differently was Ada’s RE6 true ending. The: “We’re beyond humanity” cutscene is seriously badass.. A symphony of destruction..
I hope its not goodbye yet. I think they could do another story DLC with Krauser or something. And also bring in Jill, Claire, and Carlos from the other remakes as mercenary characters. Online co op for mercs would also be cool but that is probably too much to ask.
I understand your issue with Luis, running into the fire, but people do stupid things intense situations, so you gotta give the writers a little credit❤
And aside from that..he uses that "personality" to hide the fact that he had a tough childhood when his granddad died and the fact that he made las.plagas as a weapon possible. He showed how he really was without that character personality shield that he got.from reading Don Quijote. So...its not out of character at all, he is like a kid trying to hide.his sadness by playing a personality, like a patrick bateman fan, but better. So when he was desperate in the fire, it just made.perfect sense as he showed how he was in reality. Its just that people really believe he is this guy with rizz and not a personality change.
I think in regards to the Luis fire section, you keep forgetting they are going for a more realistic approach. In real life, seeing fire and your hard work burn down into ashes makes you not think properly and any idea passes thru your hard. As smart as someone is, we are all victims of anxiety. I think luis reaction was realistic considering he was more worried about saving the medicine rather than thinking of a new way in making more (which is believable considering the current circumstance)
Pretty sure the reason Wesker didn't retrieve the Amber himself was because he doesn't want to reveal himself to any of the Los Illuminados or Leon and staying in the shadows hence why he sends Ada to do is because she's more of a merc. Also as for Luis, I feel like you're dismissing the fact that people do stupid things while under pressure, its more of a do before thinking action that Luis did, and in my opinion thats incredibly realistic for the character, he obviously knows how to make more but in his mind he was pressured and couldn't stop himself to try and save the medicine.
DLC was amazing!!! So much new areas! It was refreshing! But yeah The U-3 wasn’t my biggest highlight like I thought it would be! I really liked the ElGathickboi fights and the Black robe fights! U-3 arena pissed me off same as the shooting thing it did 😕
U3 first phase was bothersome because of how small the right area was. I know they’re small in modern resident evil games but this one felt extra tiny.
@@AmorphousGoob Doing professional and had to use the RPG to skip the first phase and just knife the hell out of it on second phase (running close left side seemed to avoid a lot of damage).
I finished the DLC in like 5-6 hours which is crazy long. I absolutely loved it. I loved how it filled in so much information from the base game. My only complaint is how her melee was wayyy weaker than Leon’s. I felt like I blew through so much more ammo than the base game. Overall the game was beautiful and I had a blast and will definitely be playing it again.
True but she could melee at range and knock enemies much easier as she moves her way through to the melee target so I guess it balances it out, not to mention she can rip shields out of enemy hands. I played normal mode and had so much ammo by the end of the game because melee was quite fun
Btw you forgot to mention that they brought back other small parts from separate ways like the laser room. And they even brought back the crushing rock things fron novis 3 in the orignal. So cool😮
I’m not gonna lie, Lily Gao’s acting in the DLC definitely improved (I actually liked her in the base game) but moments like when Luis went to get his research, I felt Ada was really “ugh… seriously? I’m tired” kinda vibes when she was like “Luis no!”, there wasn’t much emotion. I get Luis is just used to get the Amber but considering he’s the only key to her objective, could’ve shown more emotion in her voice. Besides that she was amazing. The hate was never warranted for her VA imo.
Tbf I feel like its not her fault but more of the writers not giving her more of an emotional drive for her voicelines. Its funny cause whenever the voice of a character is disliked (for example if a character is too dull) people immediately blame the actor, but forget that the actor is merely following the writing that was given to them, I'm sure if the writers gave her lines more emotion she wouldn't sound so bored.
I'm actually shocked how much I was surprised about the quality of Separate Ways I just ended my engagement with my love of 4 years the night before it released, so it couldn't of come out at a better time too Only thing missing was I wish Wesker had his iconic tone/mannerisms instead of being so generic an sounding like a henchman like he did in the main game, but I kinda even started accepting it a little more Never had a problem with Ada's voice in comparison
I really don't want Wesker to die in the next RE remake but if they do decide to kill him I want them to have Jill and Chris do it not Shiva or whatever her name was in RE5.
Actually, the Crate Fight section from the OG U3 boss isn't cut here. It is reimagined and added to a later on section along with the laser room in that new "Martinico" boss in the Island. The atmosphere and the locked doors in that hallway section when we run from that new monster was a callback to the OG Crate fight scene. Yet, I think they should've used the concept of the Crate fight in the U3 boss. They kinda stole from it's time. And that makes both boss fights way shorter than the original. Still not even close to something "Bad"
I also think that a reason why maybe Luis forgot for a moment he could make new medicine was out of like a fight or flight instinct. Seeing his lab up in flames just like the house his grandfather was in must've made unpleasant old memories resurface. 😔
While I can agree with many of your opinions, hype is stopping me from agreeing with you about U3. I loved facing him in the separate ways remake personally. While I can admit the crate section not being in the game was disappointing, I didn’t mind that much. It was an overall fun dlc and I’m glad they repurposed some of the cut stuff from the original. I’m just glad I didn’t have to deal with that light puzzle in the cave. FUCK THAT SECTION (Also the unlockables from the dlc are awesome! Love em.))
Come on bro it is not dumb part of Louis to storm that blazing fire just to get the medicine. That is a natural behaviour of humans to sometimes Don't think just do things in order to save something or someone. That is why when Ada said "Pull yourself together" to Luis he right away came up with an idea. Remember if the emotion is high the intelligence is low. That's how passive our human brains work sometimes
Agree. Also Ada encouraging him to just more medicine and agrees to help him get the ingredients which gives Luis the idea that he can - hes not alone. he first doubts himself because he thought hes alone but hes actually not. ultimately he couldnt have done it without her either.
One thing I have had a hard time expressing is how I have always felt Lily Gao's delivery was good and realistic. Here is how I feel/relate to Ada as a character and why she might speak so "unenthusiastically". I grew up spending a good part of my formative years in the governments custody which in turn made me withdrawn, quite spoken and monotoned when I generally speak. This has led to people believing I am bored, dissatisfied, cold, mad or indifferent. Only when I am in fight or flight mode or singing is when I convey emotion vocally. With all the said and knowing Ada's backstory I can see why she would speak in the manner she does. It makes it more realistic to me personally. Lily outdid herself with the DLC lines and honestly crushed the main story.

Overall it was pretty fun, though I'm pretty bummed we didn't see Eda and Ramon interact even a little bit, feels like a missed opportunity. Still pretty fun overall and I definitely don't feel like I wasted my money.
Jill doesn’t need any redemption. She’s one of the top women In resident Evil history! She was one of the ORIGINAL protagonists and has given the series memorable moments that are still referenced to this day!

People shit on re3 but the game was great, please don't compare a dlc which use recycled assets from the game itself with some minor changes. Re3 did great in its own right.
At first I actually missed the U3 crate portion and they just didn't do that here... but thinking about it more now, I think I prefer this one in that the crate portion would just be annoying and tedious when replaying this DLC. And this DLC has a lot of replay value.
They should of made when you fight the giant every time he runs into the building it would make you stumble and fall off of the building which would force you to timing right jumping building-to-building
For me, Luis’s part was pretty in-character for me. since his lab was on fire, it would make sense that Luis would forget about the medicine in that moment. In my mind, he would most likely forget since he’s trying to save Ada, Ashley and Leon. And when the lab is on fire, he probably panics. Sorry if I don’t make sense :/.
My only nitpick is the burning lab sequence. I think it's much better if Capcom made that into a cutscene. Also, for the part where Luis could just create another supresant, it's a momentary lapse in thinking. Panic does that to people, it happens. It may look dumb but it happens in the real world. A good example would be us finding our phones but all along, it was in our pockets. For the boss fights, it was decent, I'm just happy almost all of the cut sections of the main game is in the DLC though I will not miss that battleship encounter lol. RE4R SW is much better paced than the original SW overall.
I actually liked that it wasn't a cutscene. Thing is cutscenes are meant to develop a story and give us more of a visual look of the situation without being in control as a way to understand things while keeping us immersed. Having us actually go through the fire instead of watching it in a cutscene was more a pressure moment that I liked, especially since there is a timed meter that you need to beat as well, if the meter gets to zero then Luis dies and I like that. If anything the fact that we got a cutscene after we get to Luis was a moment of relief and that was a good thing. See RE4 is unique in the way it works, always making sure you have numerous enemies attacking you so you need to be very smart with your approach to the situation otherwise you'll be overwhelmed and killed and thats what makes RE4 so fun. Situations where you need to keep a cool head while under pressure are good for training your mind and the moment you get through it you feel a sense of relief. Hence why I have to disagree with your nitpick. But thats just my opinion, I understand that pressured moments are not for everything, people prefer to play at a pace that is comfortable to them so in a way its understandable.
@Reggiezombie don’t worry I do. Once a year and I’ve added this remake on my rotation. As I have said, this is my only nitpick on the dlc. With so many things capcom has done right SW, this is pretty much a non-existent. I’m just being critical.
If i was an evil mastermind like Wesker. I'd be spying on her to see the things she won't tell me and seeing how long it takes and things going bad id i have backup plans or try to acquire both the amber and the body for more specimens to work with.
Really wish Luis did more here, once he makes the suppressant for the Parasite he basically disappears and he's dead next time we see him. Part of me is kind of wishing he'd come back in some capacity in another game.
Makes sense that they didnt have the cargo part in the U3 fight considering we know U3 survives the drop so alot of the suspense that the original had would have been lost the fact that Peasanta/U3 persues you instead was a good change.

I felt like it made more sense to me that Louis acted like that he was held prisoner and tortured what not, and he wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. He probably had no intention of remaking by hand the cure.
I completely agree the Fire Section was so out of place for Luis character he’s pretty confident and the reason a lot of characters made it out alive him panicking and running through stupidly just to save him and tell him make more is lame instead he coulda saved some medicine and recreate it from the base or something like that or just cut that scene in entirely because it wasn’t needed. The boss fights were fun the Black Rope ones was my favourite the third U3 wasn’t bad but the first phase isn’t that difficult and the second phase isn’t really interesting the Saddler boss fight was fun so many cool animations and attacks you need to be ready for, the new monster in the the facility is like a baby el gigantic and really wasn’t needed a boss with it woulda been cool but nah it comes and dies pretty quickly and the one El Gigantic boss was much harder than the base game it just felt like it had way more health but was fun having the high ground against it. My biggest problems are Ada meeting Krauser and Ashley well you just chase Krauser and get a few scene’s with him but never meet him which was pretty disappointing felt like the chase was pointless and Ashley it seemed you get a conversation with her but no she just tells you help Leon it was an NPC interaction not really even needed so another disappointment there the Wesker scenes is the reason to play the game him saving ada and Taking Krauser body to maybe bring him back or use it to enhance his own abilities and Ada character was better than the base game her flirting with Luis and Wesker was interesting to see the dance still was my favourite with Luis it added more to her character the laser room was cool but the original was way better but the grapple was tons of fun to use in long range attacks and rips shields away very few moments but fun still overall fun dlc is Ada character now better than Ashley or other lmao not really but VA did do a better job.
They definitely could’ve done more with U-3. I’m of the camp that feels the OG U-3 wasn’t all what it was cracked up to be either, but I do like how they reintegrated Pesanta into the story and made it/her more resonant. Great stuff!

Pretty sure that U-3 is a she not a he. IIRC in the files found in both Leon & Ada's campaigns it mentions that U-3 is a former maid (for Mendez?) i didn't mind the actual encounters with U-3,instead of one big fight we got a few of them culminating with full on scorpion mode lol.
I really like the DLC Way better than the original in my opinion Also I’m hoping Wesker doesn’t die in the next remake because he was so underutilized as a villain in RE5 OG and could easily be incorporated into a future RE6 remake

I see so many companies being greedy when releasing dlc. I'm not paying 30 dollars for a 2 hour dlc. The fact that its more great re4 remake feel, and only 10 dollars makes it automatically a pick up.
Hey I just had a crazy thought while having Ada with the green wig to see how she'd look with it. What if Capcop made a wig for Ada or Leon for that matter but instead of a health icon or the screen getting red in the corners, the wig itself changed colors. So full health bright green and when he gets hurt slowly becomes yellow and then orange and then red when in danger? May be dumb but it sounded like something different to see in a RE game.
My only problem is that the U-3 Boss Fight doesn’t have the crate section. Throughout the dlc, he is so menacing and is seen as a proper threat to the player. I feel that they should’ve had Ada jump into the crate section for the first phase, fight U-3 on the ground (as seen in the dlc) for the second phase, then fight the tail for the third and final phase. They should’ve also made Saddler a bigger part of the dlc and his final boss have multiple phases.
I just finished the game; 10/10! I really love the theme of the save game/custom case scene. First time I noticed the difference and I like the change.
Luis acting the way he did seems completely normal. There was medicine already ready, sick folks he wanted to rush towards, and Ada rushing for the amber... making more would be extra chore, I don't see nothing wrong with that event... I don't like the PRL personally, but I'm sure there will be more DLC and they will eventually bring it, may be nerfed like they nerfed the chicago sweeper, kinda hope so lol. or if not, that's probably fine too, can't nerf the rocket launcher either.
Literally doesn't make sense why Wesker is there in person just baby sitting his own agent he hired And if he's as strong as hes in mercenaries mode in the story he could've got what he wanted way faster doing it himself
The only thing i was slightly annoyed with was some sections just feel DELIBERATELY unfair with the ammount of enemies/ types of enemies you fight with the limited and weaker weapons and ada taking alot more damage. Ex starting off with a boss fight when you barely have any ammo or heals only to then have to two enemy guantlets in a row then ANOTHER boss fight , and an enemy gauntlet with chainsaw peeps shortly after its like damn game are you mad at me?
The u3 boss fight hallucinations be for he transforms is from the resident evil 3.5 trailer demo hook man that was completely scrap it amazing they brought it back
I have seen the resident evil films before, but I only started liking this IP with the RE2 remake. This year I deep dived into this franchise and I love it. Buying all the games as I can and can't wait for what's next. It is good to be a gamer.

At the seceni chapter at the very end when you ring the bell before that exactly after ada grapple to the roof you can see Louis in bag carried by Mendez by the side down the bath to the lake

I loved this dlc got way more use out of it than the 10 bucks its cost. Way worth it. I even S+ proffessional already! Was really challenging but managed to pull it off at literally 2 hours 29 minutes lol

Yea I agree! At least the medicine that was destroyed in flames was already made, like he would just get it then done and move on getting the amber, that's why he ran into the flames. While if he would make another batch, they would have to get into the hassle of collecting all of the ingredients around the castle. Time is very important for them as he was already pressured by Ada. I guess Luis's reaction is pretty normal, considering their situation.

Yeah, Wesker doesn't really wants to get his hands dirty, so he just sends people to do his work for him. People who he doesn't really care about either and can throw away at anytime. He also made sure to get Krauser just in case Ada betrayed him. Ada betraying him wasn't a loss too. It was more of a test to see if she wants to be with him while doing... you know, what's gonna happen in RE5. Damn... imagine if Ada was in RE5. That'd be really interesting.
I love the twist with the Black Robed Verdugo being U-3 a nice reason to involve a character previously left out of the story in the original and bringing back a cut boss fight.

I actually don’t mind the Luis Fire section. The game did a good job at setting up just how much Luis wanted to make amends and help save Leon, Ashley and Ada from the infections. It makes sense he’d panic when the medicine is being destroyed and have a lapse of judgement.
And thus also made more Ada understand Luis's determination on helping them.
Plus, ADA suggested making more. Obviously Luis knew he could. But what he wasn't capable of doing was collecting the ingredients at a rapid pace while also securing the Amber. Once Ada said that, he knew he could ask her to help.
I absolutely love Luis’s redemption story in this entire game. He made it his absolute mission to make sure he rewrote his wrongs.
Separate Ways actually made me like Ada Wong. I never gave a damn about her in any of her previous games either and this DLC humanized her character a lot. I feel no shame when I say this was SOOOOO much better than the original DLC. The original SW wasn't even that good. It was a cash grab to sell the PS2 units and have to pay the game again if you owned it on Gamecube. I have no regrets paying 10 dollars which is surprising considering how much effort was put into the DLC. Not to mention, Lily Gaol won me over with her voice acting and I think she is my favorite iteration of the character.
Don't even get me started on Luis. There is NOTHING that the original counterpart did any better than the remake version of Luis. He is now one of the best characters among the franchise. The only thing I was a little bit disappointed is that Ashley had only one new line in this DLC and she didn't talk with Ada much. I wish she could have helped Ada progress to save Leon rather than standing around doing nothing.

This is the new gold standard for DLC in my opinion. 5-6 hours on first play through for 10 dollars is an amazing value. Plus it enhances Ada’s character, Luis’s character and the overall context of the story as a whole. I’m not even gonna say I hope publishers take notes, because I know this is an anomaly and we’re gonna get a bunch of shit before more good comes out.
I think Wesker has his own agenda going to the island. See, there is document that is shown in the laboratory near Martinico that Martinico and Krauser are the only living being that has experienced and survived the experiment of the Amber, written by Anabella, a head researcher of the Amber. I think without going there, he probably would never know that fact. That is why Krauser is the most suitable replacement if something went wrong with the amber. If anything, it adds more context why he specifically obtained Krauser's body instead of Saddler or Mendez.

I loved the dlc, what a great expansion and a very well made final goodbye to RE4.
I always thought Ada was pretty cool, but what really made me look at her differently was Ada’s RE6 true ending. The: “We’re beyond humanity” cutscene is seriously badass..

So when he was desperate in the fire, it just made.perfect sense as he showed how he was in reality. Its just that people really believe he is this guy with rizz and not a personality change.
I think in regards to the Luis fire section, you keep forgetting they are going for a more realistic approach. In real life, seeing fire and your hard work burn down into ashes makes you not think properly and any idea passes thru your hard. As smart as someone is, we are all victims of anxiety. I think luis reaction was realistic considering he was more worried about saving the medicine rather than thinking of a new way in making more (which is believable considering the current circumstance)
Pretty sure the reason Wesker didn't retrieve the Amber himself was because he doesn't want to reveal himself to any of the Los Illuminados or Leon and staying in the shadows hence why he sends Ada to do is because she's more of a merc.
Also as for Luis, I feel like you're dismissing the fact that people do stupid things while under pressure, its more of a do before thinking action that Luis did, and in my opinion thats incredibly realistic for the character, he obviously knows how to make more but in his mind he was pressured and couldn't stop himself to try and save the medicine.
DLC was amazing!!! So much new areas! It was refreshing! But yeah The U-3 wasn’t my biggest highlight like I thought it would be! I really liked the ElGathickboi fights and the Black robe fights! U-3 arena pissed me off same as the shooting thing it did 😕
U3 first phase was bothersome because of how small the right area was. I know they’re small in modern resident evil games but this one felt extra tiny.

I finished the DLC in like 5-6 hours which is crazy long. I absolutely loved it. I loved how it filled in so much information from the base game. My only complaint is how her melee was wayyy weaker than Leon’s. I felt like I blew through so much more ammo than the base game. Overall the game was beautiful and I had a blast and will definitely be playing it again.
True but she could melee at range and knock enemies much easier as she moves her way through to the melee target so I guess it balances it out, not to mention she can rip shields out of enemy hands. I played normal mode and had so much ammo by the end of the game because melee was quite fun
Use the melee charm. She 1-hit kills most enemies on Standard difficulty (haven't played harder diff. yet 😅)
Realistically leon is the most skilled re character in melee combat

I’m not gonna lie, Lily Gao’s acting in the DLC definitely improved (I actually liked her in the base game) but moments like when Luis went to get his research, I felt Ada was really “ugh… seriously? I’m tired” kinda vibes when she was like “Luis no!”, there wasn’t much emotion. I get Luis is just used to get the Amber but considering he’s the only key to her objective, could’ve shown more emotion in her voice. Besides that she was amazing. The hate was never warranted for her VA imo.
Tbf I feel like its not her fault but more of the writers not giving her more of an emotional drive for her voicelines.
Its funny cause whenever the voice of a character is disliked (for example if a character is too dull) people immediately blame the actor, but forget that the actor is merely following the writing that was given to them, I'm sure if the writers gave her lines more emotion she wouldn't sound so bored.

Actually, the Crate Fight section from the OG U3 boss isn't cut here. It is reimagined and added to a later on section along with the laser room in that new "Martinico" boss in the Island.
The atmosphere and the locked doors in that hallway section when we run from that new monster was a callback to the OG Crate fight scene.
Yet, I think they should've used the concept of the Crate fight in the U3 boss. They kinda stole from it's time. And that makes both boss fights way shorter than the original. Still not even close to something "Bad"
I also think that a reason why maybe Luis forgot for a moment he could make new medicine was out of like a fight or flight instinct. Seeing his lab up in flames just like the house his grandfather was in must've made unpleasant old memories resurface. 😔
While I can agree with many of your opinions, hype is stopping me from agreeing with you about U3. I loved facing him in the separate ways remake personally. While I can admit the crate section not being in the game was disappointing, I didn’t mind that much. It was an overall fun dlc and I’m glad they repurposed some of the cut stuff from the original. I’m just glad I didn’t have to deal with that light puzzle in the cave. FUCK THAT SECTION

That is a natural behaviour of humans to sometimes Don't think just do things in order to save something or someone. Agree. Also Ada encouraging him to just more medicine and agrees to help him get the ingredients which gives Luis the idea that he can - hes not alone. he first doubts himself because he thought hes alone but hes actually not. ultimately he couldnt have done it without her either.
One thing I have had a hard time expressing is how I have always felt Lily Gao's delivery was good and realistic. Here is how I feel/relate to Ada as a character and why she might speak so "unenthusiastically". I grew up spending a good part of my formative years in the governments custody which in turn made me withdrawn, quite spoken and monotoned when I generally speak. This has led to people believing I am bored, dissatisfied, cold, mad or indifferent. Only when I am in fight or flight mode or singing is when I convey emotion vocally. With all the said and knowing Ada's backstory I can see why she would speak in the manner she does. It makes it more realistic to me personally. Lily outdid herself with the DLC lines and honestly crushed the main story.

At first I actually missed the U3 crate portion and they just didn't do that here... but thinking about it more now, I think I prefer this one in that the crate portion would just be annoying and tedious when replaying this DLC. And this DLC has a lot of replay value.

For me, Luis’s part was pretty in-character for me. since his lab was on fire, it would make sense that Luis would forget about the medicine in that moment. In my mind, he would most likely forget since he’s trying to save Ada, Ashley and Leon. And when the lab is on fire, he probably panics. Sorry if I don’t make sense :/.

My only nitpick is the burning lab sequence. I think it's much better if Capcom made that into a cutscene. Also, for the part where Luis could just create another supresant, it's a momentary lapse in thinking. Panic does that to people, it happens. It may look dumb but it happens in the real world. A good example would be us finding our phones but all along, it was in our pockets.
For the boss fights, it was decent, I'm just happy almost all of the cut sections of the main game is in the DLC though I will not miss that battleship encounter lol. RE4R SW is much better paced than the original SW overall.
I actually liked that it wasn't a cutscene.
Thing is cutscenes are meant to develop a story and give us more of a visual look of the situation without being in control as a way to understand things while keeping us immersed.
Having us actually go through the fire instead of watching it in a cutscene was more a pressure moment that I liked, especially since there is a timed meter that you need to beat as well, if the meter gets to zero then Luis dies and I like that.
If anything the fact that we got a cutscene after we get to Luis was a moment of relief and that was a good thing.
See RE4 is unique in the way it works, always making sure you have numerous enemies attacking you so you need to be very smart with your approach to the situation otherwise you'll be overwhelmed and killed and thats what makes RE4 so fun.
Situations where you need to keep a cool head while under pressure are good for training your mind and the moment you get through it you feel a sense of relief.
Hence why I have to disagree with your nitpick.
But thats just my opinion, I understand that pressured moments are not for everything, people prefer to play at a pace that is comfortable to them so in a way its understandable.

If i was an evil mastermind like Wesker. I'd be spying on her to see the things she won't tell me and seeing how long it takes and things going bad id i have backup plans or try to acquire both the amber and the body for more specimens to work with.

Really wish Luis did more here, once he makes the suppressant for the Parasite he basically disappears and he's dead next time we see him. Part of me is kind of wishing he'd come back in some capacity in another game.

I felt like it made more sense to me that Louis acted like that he was held prisoner and tortured what not, and he wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. He probably had no intention of remaking by hand the cure.
I completely agree the Fire Section was so out of place for Luis character he’s pretty confident and the reason a lot of characters made it out alive him panicking and running through stupidly just to save him and tell him make more is lame instead he coulda saved some medicine and recreate it from the base or something like that or just cut that scene in entirely because it wasn’t needed. The boss fights were fun the Black Rope ones was my favourite the third U3 wasn’t bad but the first phase isn’t that difficult and the second phase isn’t really interesting the Saddler boss fight was fun so many cool animations and attacks you need to be ready for, the new monster in the the facility is like a baby el gigantic and really wasn’t needed a boss with it woulda been cool but nah it comes and dies pretty quickly and the one El Gigantic boss was much harder than the base game it just felt like it had way more health but was fun having the high ground against it. My biggest problems are Ada meeting Krauser and Ashley well you just chase Krauser and get a few scene’s with him but never meet him which was pretty disappointing felt like the chase was pointless and Ashley it seemed you get a conversation with her but no she just tells you help Leon it was an NPC interaction not really even needed so another disappointment there the Wesker scenes is the reason to play the game him saving ada and Taking Krauser body to maybe bring him back or use it to enhance his own abilities and Ada character was better than the base game her flirting with Luis and Wesker was interesting to see the dance still was my favourite with Luis it added more to her character the laser room was cool but the original was way better but the grapple was tons of fun to use in long range attacks and rips shields away very few moments but fun still overall fun dlc is Ada character now better than Ashley or other lmao not really but VA did do a better job.
They definitely could’ve done more with U-3. I’m of the camp that feels the OG U-3 wasn’t all what it was cracked up to be either, but I do like how they reintegrated Pesanta into the story and made it/her more resonant. Great stuff!

Hey I just had a crazy thought while having Ada with the green wig to see how she'd look with it. What if Capcop made a wig for Ada or Leon for that matter but instead of a health icon or the screen getting red in the corners, the wig itself changed colors. So full health bright green and when he gets hurt slowly becomes yellow and then orange and then red when in danger? May be dumb but it sounded like something different to see in a RE game.
Luis lied to Ada Chief. He only had enough for Leon and Ballistics. So he played Ada to buy time.

Only real complaint was that we didn’t get to fight krauser
My only problem is that the U-3 Boss Fight doesn’t have the crate section. Throughout the dlc, he is so menacing and is seen as a proper threat to the player. I feel that they should’ve had Ada jump into the crate section for the first phase, fight U-3 on the ground (as seen in the dlc) for the second phase, then fight the tail for the third and final phase.
They should’ve also made Saddler a bigger part of the dlc and his final boss have multiple phases.
You forgot about Luis' childhood trauma. He lost everything (including his grandfather) in the fire.

I don't like the PRL personally, but I'm sure there will be more DLC and they will eventually bring it, may be nerfed like they nerfed the chicago sweeper, kinda hope so lol. or if not, that's probably fine too, can't nerf the rocket launcher either.

Ex starting off with a boss fight when you barely have any ammo or heals only to then have to two enemy guantlets in a row then ANOTHER boss fight , and an enemy gauntlet with chainsaw peeps shortly after its like damn game are you mad at me?

im at the start of chapter 4 and I have to say this seems to be the best value dlc we have got in a very long time.
Y only regret is mods dont work. Modders need time to update their work. On the plus side new challenges.
To be fair the PLR laser wasn’t in the original Gamecube release.

I loved this dlc got way more use out of it than the 10 bucks its cost. Way worth it. I even S+ proffessional already! Was really challenging but managed to pull it off at literally 2 hours 29 minutes lol
NGL I’ve always really hated the crate part of U3 in the original so I’m happy it’s gone 😅
