I totally hate those negative opinions about fantasy. Who has de right to decide what's literature and what's not? And you need an incredible mind to write them. It's a very creative work
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches is such a good read ^_^ because of that book I plan on reading more Witch books in the future. I chose Wicked Fox to read for asian readathon and was also working on my reading journal while watching your video ^-^.
so glad you also loved the very secret society of irregular witches, and that sounds so lovely! i always throw on reading vlogs when i work on my journal as well!
“The very secret society of irregular witches” was one of my favourite books in 2022. 😍 As always happy to have a long vlog from you and Mogget was watching with me, but he would like to get more cat’s content 😂
I recently just finished yelloface by r.f. Kuang, and holy fuck, it was incredible! I didn't expect this plot line as I didn't do too much research into what it was about and to be honest I'm glad I didn't- it was so faced paced and thrilling, you need to read it!
7:26 We actually say that in Arabic ! when you greet someone you would say شلونك/ج؟ (shlonak/shlonich), which literally translates to what is your color? as in how are you!
I'm a horror reader and I feel looked down on as well if someone ask what's my fave genre is. Horror can be deep and give an impact as welll It's not all about the shock factor. 😅
The raining scene gave such cozy cottage core vibes I loved it!!! I think our definition of book buying ban is a little different cause I was also on a book buying ban in may and yet I still ended up buying two books.😃
thank you! i love the clips i ended up getting of the rain!! and honestly i don't think our definitions of a book buying ban are that different because i, also, always end up buying books too😭
🎃 I’ve been reading Agatha Christie books for the past 2 years in between fantasy books. She’s so clever with her plots and characters. Not sure Halloween Party will be a 5 star for you as it wasn’t for me. But I consider her books comfort reads at this point which is ironic because they’re all about murder lol. I’d still read many of them again even though they were not 5 star rated on the first read. Hope your summer is fun and relaxing !!!
i'm interested to see what i end up thinking of it, out of curiosity what's your favorite agatha christie? and i definitely see why her books are comfort reads for you though! and thank you!!🫶🏻💗
I’m so glad you read Heart of the Sun Warrior! I needed to hear your thoughts because I have some STRONG OPINIONS for this book lol. Ngl the main character is the most indecisive person ever. P.S. I also agree with you on the love triangle 😅 (still a little triggered on how the book ends)
Fantasy books are usually the hardest to read conceptually and definitely grammatically which I think is why most people don’t read fantasy books. I said what I said!!!!!
Read the first 10 volumes of Yona and loved them. Want to start collecting the series now. Love the vlog what you on repeat all the time. Made my day when I am not feeling well
@@katieisreading I am feeling better now thanks so much. I am enjoying Yona and I have the next 10 volumes on hold at my library hoping to pick them up today at somepoint
Cass and Katie uploading a video at the same time 👀. Slay girls! Love these long vlogs! You should try to make an hour long video maybe once a week? just an idea..
I just read The Left Hand of Darkness and it was so good!! It's really slow and takes a lot of brain power but the social commentary and world building is incredible
The Astonishing Color of After was one of my sister's favorite books. The author has another book that looks amazing too. Looking forward to your vlogs on Mondays/ Tuesdays. Enjoy the break before graduate school.
same thing happened to me!! someone asked what books I read, I said fantasy and they gave me the eyebrows and were like ooo okayyy... i was like what do you think fantasy is HAHA
Quick question off topic from books… but I love your green heart toggle necklace and was wondering where you got it from? I’ve seen it in so many videos and I’m invested to find it lol
Since you really liked The astonishing color of after and having in mind that you were talking about the magical realism of her grief presenting physically I reckon you should read How it feels to float by Helena Fox. It has a very similar theme and it does contain some heavy topics so if you want to check out the trigger warnings go ahead. But in my opinion it’s best to go in blind, it absolutely shattered my heart 😢❤ one of my faves of 2022
oh okay i will definitely have to check it out when i'm in the mood to be emotional😢 but thank you so much for the recommendation, so glad it was one of your favs of last year!
So far in my life I've never really encountered somebody that looked down on me for reading fantasy. To be fair, I don't talk to many people in real life about my reading habits but still. I never realised that I can count myself lucky for not yet having had conversations like the one you described. I find it very sad that people sort of "belittle" a literary genre like that. I believe that no genre is better than any other because it all comes down to personal tastes in the end. Besides, I think writing fantasy must take so much brain power and imagination. I mean, the worlds and magic systems some authors create from scratch? I don't think I could do that. (Granted, I don't think I could write a book at all but a fantasy book much less)
Yona of the dawn is my obsession ! I discoverd this manga last month and i to read each book ! Where did you watch the anime ? Little recommandation if you love the found family troppe in mangas : frieren and attack of titans ( master chief)
On the other hand, I brought up Twilight and Harry Potter in my job interview and I got the job😂 but ugh I hate that, honestly I feel like fantasy takes so much more brain power
omg that man was so rude and of course it'd be A Man who'd say something like that. i'm so sorry you had to go through that experience. tbh i don't read fantasy because i'm too dumb to understand all the world building that fantasy authors do ;_________; like, people say reading classics is difficult, but have they ever read a high fantasy novel? i don't think so.
i was very unsurprised it was a man who said that to me😡 and honestly feel that, nothing makes me feel more inadequate that a complex adult fantasy world😳

Fantasy is good for the creative mind. It’s a wonderful escape. The.authors in this genre are incredibly intelligent and clever.
