I like how they added the sparkle effect in the sequel.
I'll admit a LOT of these are stiff and unimpressive, but I'll be darned if some of them still understood how to animate a satisfying impact.
It's sort of like they traded flair and swagger for sheer kinetic energy.
The Draug attacking at distance animation is cool as fuck
Mage one is simplily funny, he casually reads a book and then kills the enemy
Hero(first attack) animation is also smooth as hell
The mage just read the "how to crit" tutorial
I always loved how elegant is the critical animation of this games.
The gba trilogy has the best look and style in the entire franchise IMO
and thats a fact
Yeah...not enough flashiness from the later games.
Nah I cannae see that; these alone are better than anything I've seen in the GBA games and I say that having been introduced via them.
The follow up animations in these are cool af. Using any Mage just for the special effects and all's far too awesome.

Echoes has the best style imo. Echoes is absolutely stunning and is by far one of the best looking games on the 3ds.

I mean, this isn't THAT bad, they are quite good in their own.
The problem is that the transition between the flashy 2d animations to what seems like realistic pre-rendered 3d models is too shoking and less satisfactory.
Isn't it from 2d to the 3d models from 9-10 to the 2d 3d look of 11-12

Shadow Dragon has some of the coolest animations in the series, especially for Swordmasters.

True the sprite animations just looked great in each class having something unique ,this game looks like it took a more realistic approach
Honestly, ANYTHING looks better than Shadow Dragon. Even FE9’s animations, while janky, clearly had more life to them than this.

this just makes me want to play this game again, albeit the GBA serious of games did have better animations, this one's more nostalgic for me, because this was my first fire emblem game

after playing the awesome gba games for the nth time, i just couldn't get into SD
Whilst I agree on gba having more pleasing animations I’ve grown fond of these animations over time I think they are at the very least not as bad as people say
For those who haven't played this game, DON'T
They wish they could be gba

I'll never understand the hatred of this look got. It has charm, and everything worked. Is not as bad as like w3 reforged. Then again, from the series that brought you the embodiment of sailor moon villains and pettings young women to breed with them, I suppose it just wasn't the target audience
Because the characters are a blurry low quality mess.
Also that terrible petting bullshit from Fates wasn't even around yet, Fates brought that, not the rest of the series.
This game didn't have support convos either lol.
Because is just a straight up port of the original FE1 with some updated features (Reforging, class change and online mode).
The online mode just unfriendly with the main game itself... horrible stats growth in most units and limited stat boosting items so most peeps just straight up hacked characters to max stats or go the with the broken pegasus sisters, (Just try to get a melee unit with 20 res in this game lol) also it was plagued with hackers.
Most characters not named marth or caeda just talk like 2 times in the entire game.
To acess Gaiden chapters you need to have low units count so you just straight up killed your low lv units or just don't recruit nothing at all.
The battle animations are too lame compared to the latest games (Just compare the animations from the tellius games and the gba ones), also the character sprites in battle looked too generic.
The art style from the characters OC's is subjetive, through most peeps are used to the anime one that they use to this day.
Wow. The higher pixel density made it actually worse. I don’t know any other game where it is like that but look at that trash
