When I tell you that you are an absolute treasure, I mean that 1000%! Straight to the point, not assuming everyone has the paid version and showing the workflow with each version. I certainly appreciate the simplicity with CapCut Pro, but I’m absolutely fascinated and intrigued with the workflow with Davinci! And right when I got into it, I started coming across your videos! I will have to sue you for reading my mind because right as I was thinking how to mask, this video was posted mere hours ago lolol Keep them coming! ❤
Dude is a miracle. He has no idea of his importance to me and probably for a lot if people out there. The way I study with his method is changing the game for me.
Please never stop making these videos. They are so helpful to see the possibilities. Just getting into Davinci Resolve and these have been eye opening. Thank you.
Daniel, I gotta say man, you make following and learning davinci resolve so enjoyable! My recent youtube videos have had a nice jump in editing quality and workflow speed, and its like 90% from your tutorials. Thank you so much and please keep dropping gems for us!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
My evenings are now spent learning so much from your channel. My latest upload had the surface tracker video in it, a put my channel logo on some water from a drone shot, I was rather pleased with that one. Next week's video will have some "Titles" effects. Thanks Daniel, soon I will find time for the course I bought off you last year !!! (yeah yeah, Im a slow learner)
Glad to see that DaVinci is sponsoring you! I was just thinking "they should be paying him for making it possible for us to use their super-complicated but excellent product" And - voila! 😅
Thanks for great videos Daniel. What specifications would you recommend on say a Mac Mini to easily do Davinci on a 6k timeline? What do you use? Or better, do a video on that. Cheers.
If I were buying another Mac Mini for editing in Resolve, I’d get at least the 32GB M4 with at least 1TB of storage. I’d also make sure every thing I editing was whether filmed in ProRes or transcoded into ProRes or DNxHR HQ. I’d it for lower res proxies if I had issues in the edit. What you have to understand is that codec lags out editing software much more than resolution does. H.264 and h.265 are horrible editing codecs
My friend, we need a fire extinguisher here cuz you are on fire, you were on the same planet with that kid, this was an amazing video, thank you. I realized, I am still using Free features, when I could be using the paid features, whoops and thank you ;)
Literally came to mask something better in my video and found this and thought, of course he has one for it. Then I realised this came out 40 MINUTES AGO! How did you know I would need this? Thanks for another cracking tutorial. I have been wondering about the best way to handle the following situation: I have a clip from a video game, where I want to keep the footage in the background, then do a highlight and zoom on a section, bringing it to the centre of the screen, while also maintaining a highlight on both the "pop out" footage, and the section it originated from, while also cropping the footage that gets zoomed in on so it doesn't obscure the whole screen. I essentially need to mask the section I want, but still be able to manipulate the footage where I need it instead of moving the mask around the footage. Thanks in advance for any help.
@@Daniel_Batal I have actually watched that one... maybe I just need to rewatch and try again, it's adding the highlighted border, and moving that border at the same time I think is going to be tricky, as I set it up in Fusion tab so not sure if I can link the Fusion Nodes to a mask in the colour page?
Go onto the edit page down in the tools menu, I believe under the tutorial effects options(?), they have a couple of pre-built effects that look like a magnifying glass circle with an outline. At least in the studio version, they do. Maybe the free version? I’m wondering if there’s something down in there that might make your life easy
@@Daniel_Batal Got Studio for Christmas, will play around with that next. This project has been great fun as it is really getting me to dive deep into Resolve and I love it. Really gets my brain working trying to figure out the solution! I wondered if you had a Discord or other kind of community set up for people to share tips, tricks and generally help each other out?
Danny, there is one thing I've yet to figure out. Syncing the background with the mask. Example. I have a piece of footage that was filmed with the "shaky cam" method. There is a tv I masked the screen out to put myself on TV. How do I sync me with the shaky tv to make it appear I am on the tv.. I have tried keyframing the background, but doesn't look quite right.
What you’d wanna do is actually track your television and use that tracking information as the data set to intimate the footage of yourself that you’re trying to put into the TV. I think Casey might’ve made a video similar to this but using a phone. Let me see if I can find it. Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/Q7B4OHEj1mM/v-deo.htmlsi=IjDTN0jctx5DwBhO
Hi Daniel. I have a question about fairlight. Do you know if there is some kind of "adjustment clip" in fairlight? Greetings from the Netherlands. Ron.
Yes and no. The reason being is that Fairlight is a DAW (digital audio workstation). It works in terms of tracks, not layers. On the edit page, you would add an adjustment clip to affect all the tracks below it. In Fairlight, you would add a “bus” and assign all of the tracks you want to feed into that bus. Then you can do things like add compression, EQ, Gates, Reverb etc onto the bus, and it will affect and control all of the tracks fed into it. Good question ❤️
Do you have a video on how to batch export with davinci? One of the reasons I’m still with Adobe is because media encoder lets me export 100 UA-cam shorts very easily out of the same timeline and I haven’t seen a tutorial like that for davinci
I don’t, not specifically at least. I’ll make a note of that and cover it in an upcoming video. I have talked about the ability to open multiple projects at once, run multiple timelines at the same time and how to export multiple assignments at once, but not all in one cohesive video.
Great video Daniel. I was going frame by frame and changing the mask in the fusion page... Magic mask seems like such a time saver, but its $425 Canadian, just a bit too rich for my blood
I understand watching your budget. But to be fair, saying the Magic Mask costs $425 is like saying a tire for a Ferrari costs $200,000. There’s a lot more that comes with the price of the studio license than just a single AI masking feature. MUCH more ☮️
Another great video Daniel! I used magic mask to do something really cool but I haven't finished the complete video for UA-cam yet. Somehow, I would love to send you the da Vinci magic mask part that I did just so that you could see it and give me your input
I work with a bunch of old footage. Not the best quality. Even tracking a power window can give me hell. I'm wondering how these AI assisted features work with footage like mine (sometimes home movies originally shot on Super 8 and transferred to video in the 80s and then digitized sometime after that, or videos of live performances that were shot on VHS or Hi8, etc).
Not as well as it does with higher resolution footage, obviously. But there are a lot of ways to help work around that, including upscaling the footage, increasing the contrast in color reference nodes for tracking purposes that you can later disable, using depth masks, etc
It’s something we’ve been talking about doing this year. We’ll see how much information I can learn about the software ASAP! I still consider myself a noob 😁
