I didn’t use CapCut very much so I don’t have a good vocabulary of the different features by name that it could do. The main difference you’re going to find between CapCut and DaVinci Resolve is that CapCut was designed to make editing video for the Internet very easy and ‘push button’ so that you could click certain things and get a reasonably good result quickly. Amazing video! Very detailed and easy to follow thank you man ❤️. I have a question if possible, I am filming in apple log proRes and then applying a custom LUt, would proxy help reduce the load on my laptop or it only works for other codecs? And is apple log supported on the free version? I read on some forms it’s not consistent, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. Thank you again ! ❤
ProRes is supported and is actually a much better codec to film and edit in because it carriers much less compression the software needs to read through to edit it. What you need to watch out for is the Free version doesn’t support the same color bit depth as the Studio version (8 bit limit in Free), though ProRes typically allows you to sneak in up to 10 bit. If you’re already filming in ProRes, you’re making the software’s job easier. I wouldn’t create proxies unless you were experiencing lag issues and need to reduce the resolution during your workflow.
Wait… Did you mean what am I using to share my screen during this live stream? I thought you meant for most of my UA-cam tutorials. Sorry if I misunderstood, For live streams, I’m using a Rodecaster Video with one of my GPU monitor outputs run through an HDMI splitter and coming back into one of the camera switching inputs.
@@Daniel_Batal No, the software was my primary question because I quickly realized DVR doesn't do screen capture, so I wondered what you were using. The additional hardware info is appreciated, but more than I need. I've done several videos over the years but nothing consistent and I want to change that. I'm comfortable with Camtasia, but don't much like it, and figured there must be better options out there. I was kicking around the idea of Capcut, but for recent obvious reasons, I don't want to learn new software that's politically vulnerable. It's back up now, but what about tomorrow, or next week, or next month? Even though I'm in Canada, our government has the same concerns and a ban is possible or likely here as well. So I found your DVR for Complete Noobs video from a year ago and that sealed the deal that DVR is the best choice for me. While I haven't used Capcut, this video is still worthwhile for me because it could be titled, DVR for People Who've Been Using Something Else. I echo what so many others are saying, your teaching style and delivery is great. Well explained, easy to follow and you're clearly comfortable sharing what you know, and admitting when you aren't sure. Your efforts are appreciated. I'll be watching a lot of your stuff as I get up to speed. Thanks, Daniel!
I believe voice isolation is a studio only feature. That being said, from the edit page, if you left click once into the open gray area of the audio track controls (right below the lock, solo, mute options)… it will change the visible audio features in the upper right, under the audio tab of the inspector. That’s how to access the second tier of AI assisted features
I know! Did you see my pinned comment above that I wrote immediately after? I also misspelled CapCut when I wrote it on screen, confused my lefts and rights and stumbled over words. I’d like to blame whiskey, but it’s dry January and I haven’t had a drink all month 😅 This is what happens when I get up early in the morning and jump on a live stream.
I have an issue with DaVinci Resolve Studio. When I add a video to the timeline without doing any editing or color grading, and press play to play the video, the CPU usage on my PC goes to 100%. However, when I set DaVinci Resolve to play the video in cinema mode (full screen), the CPU has no problem. But as soon as I exit cinema mode, it goes back to 100%. I also tried adding an adjustment layer alone to the timeline without any video, and when I press play, it does the same thing. I have selected the AMD GPU in the DaVinci Resolve settings since using auto mode made no difference.
What video codec & resolution is your footage and are you using the free version? The free version doesn’t use double ended GPU acceleration and if you’re forcing resolved to decompress your footage to edit it, that’s going to eat up a lot of system resources. You should transcode your footage into an editing, friendly format if that’s the case, even if you don’t change the resolution. ua-cam.com/users/shortsn1DFyINLLbY?si=dgjYjxQ9h_PoGz4M
I follow you because of your davinci resolve tips but i also appreciate the youtube tips and if you know anything about keyword research you'd know not to make "Capcut" related content right now because of the US tiktok ban. I'm from India and immediately after tiktok got banned, Capcut was also banned since it was owned by bytedance. I assume Capcut won't be available for us users very soon. But then again you can target the rest of the world besides US & India so there's that Edit: nvm i just clicked play on the video
Ive so far been spending about 3 days on davinci with some good progress and have watched tons of videos/getting an overall feel for it but one thing that still doesnt feel completely right is the actual experience. I keep hearing about lag issues and how to avoid them I know you talked about a few in this stream but maybe you could make a seperate video talking about common misconceptions, or ways to increase performce/user experiencr for noobs but other then that ive learned so much about this software already and have high hopes when I learn even more capcut was unbanned and I have the pro subscription so I might aswell use that last month up till I finally switch to davinci lol
Hello Daniel. I have been learning a lot from your tutorials. But the problem is that it's extremely difficult for me to remember all those tricks and tips. So I have to relearn things again when I need them. Any tips for remembering all that stuff?
Same way you learn to speak any language… practice! I do have something coming out that will make finding some of my quick tip tutorials much easier. Stay tuned!
Simplicity. It’s screen captures video and captures my mic very clearly and consistently and it’s a very simple interface. And never be afraid to ask unrelated questions around here ☮️
@@Daniel_Batal it's own built in music library, templates, subtitles and srt generation are insanely easy and more accurate than Resolve, object tracking, face tracking and effects, eye redirecting for talking heads, all the Ai figures, voices and speech fx, having a desktop, mobile and web version in synch and available cross platforms, their Ai vocal isolataion will actually rebuild certain clips, Masking is incredibly easy, the list goes on and on and a candy store for people on Resolve. I bounce between the two depending on the project. Resolve could leverage ideas from Capcut for days.
The studio version has most of those features, but at a pro level with the exception of some of the push button things like included music libraries and meme templates etc. There is nothing you can do in CapCut that you can’t do in da Vinci resolve. It’s just not always done with a single click of a button. There are, however, many things that you cannot do in CapCut that you can in Resolve. It is a pro level video editing software and also the industry standard for color grading most major motion pictures out today. It also has a complete DAW and node compositor included. CapCut was designed to be a simple video editing software for people who didn’t really want to learn, advanced techniques and wanted something quick and easy to make content for social media. It was definitely good at that ☮️❤️
@@Daniel_Batal it's not all point and click and I wouldn't so easily discount Capcut's abilities. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Point being that while Resolve is a color grading beast, Capcut excels is providing innovative features, with updates nearly weekly. Anything can be done on any software, all are very capable and Resolve does try to see what is trendy to include in their updates. But their updates are rather meh, leaning towards stability issues than features. Just saying, use what you want, the audience doesn't care what you edited on. They are all just tools.
@@Daniel_Batal ... "CapCut was designed to be a simple video editing software for people who didn’t really want to learn, advanced techniques and wanted something quick and easy to make content for social media." ... THAT is why I liked using it. I'm sure others feel the same way. . Jeff .
Does it? That’s good to know. A lot of beginner and intermediate video editing software have a very similar layout looking and feel. Sometimes that’s a good thing because it makes it easier for people to jump between software
Thank you Soooooooo much for this. I love ALL your tutorials. Thanks a lot again. Can you show us videos like Dave Ardito please ? He is an vfx Anime creator and there are so many videos in UA-cam but they all in after effects or CapCut. And I think if anyone can do, it’s you :-) Can you PLEASE make a tutorial ?
There’s almost nothing you can do in CapCut that you can’t do in DaVinci Resolve. It’s just a CapCut makes everything more ‘push-button’ for people who mostly want to make online content.
@@Daniel_Batal I started my channel on youtube almost a year ago not this channel I use this one to watch other youtube videos. I make faceless mythology videos on my Salazar's Timeless Treasures . What I did in cap cut is i made my voice over then I would go make or find images to go with my voice over and go make music to go with my video. I make folders for my voice over my music and my images then import the folders to capcut. I would place the voice over on my time line then add the images as I Listen to my voice over to match them up with what I was saying . As I did that I would use effects to my images to make them move or something special . I am learning editing as I go . I have a lot to learn still on editing
Gotcha. Okay so here’s how you’d recorder a voiceover directly into Resolve: ua-cam.com/users/shortsw7ffXCbOwd4?si=ukrpOCDMC4l_TyXD Importing images is pretty straightforward. Import media like you would in CapCut. Put them in your timeline and for simple motion, you can use keyframing: ua-cam.com/video/p1KRLgHw8LY/v-deo.htmlsi=a8dPy6b_sRYhsuHe For advanced animation techniques you’d want to bring those images into Fusion
@@Daniel_Batal SIR, I am stuck on the 1st issue, "media offline". ive imported, relinked, and followed about 5 different videos instructions. I can hear the audio from each clip. the media is .MP4. i am at a loss.
Hi Daniel. I am looking for a tutorial everywhere on UA-cam but just can't seem to find it. You know how we can use ai to expand the edges of pictures.. you know make them bigger.. I want to do that with a video. But the problem is all the tutorials on UA-cam show how to do it on a still video shot on a tripod. I want to do it with my gimbal footage, really there's not too much movement in that shot.. it's basically a still video but it still has some hand movements. I was thinking of tracking and doing it that way but I can't quite remember the process. Can you make a tutorial on it or help me with a comment?
The simplest way to do this is to select your footage in your timeline from the edit page, go to the upper right inspector and scroll down to ‘stabilization’. Select the options you want to apply, including cropping ratio, and then just hit stabilize, and it will analyze and stabilize your footage. There are more advanced ways to do this as well, but this is one of the simplest ways for basic stabilization. If you need to zoom in your footage to crop any potential issues… with that footage still selected go to the very top of the transform option left click inside either the Zoom X or Zoom Y feature and drag to the number values to the right to increase the zoom ratio
@@Daniel_Batal so stabilise it and then use generative ai to expand the edges of the video. Smart. I do know how to stabilize videos and that wasn't my question...but it never crossed my mind that I could stabilize the video first and then use Photoshop's generative fill to expand the edges of the video
Ah! Generative fill is what you were looking for. That’s an Adobe product feature so if it’s something you need for your workflow, I would absolutely look at Adobe Premiere Pro
Ha! Who doesn’t love rotoscoping! 😜 The magic mask feature in the studio version definitely solves that headache. Check this out-> ua-cam.com/users/shortsLLodyQbxWsQ?si=cOsxF0cQMfw94D8E
My only gripe... On Capcut, I can pretty much drag and drop any type of media format and immediately start editing. DaVinci, on the other hand, I have to convert most of my files to an "accepted" format which costs me up to hours extra time before even starting to edit...
AS of 8 months ago, as far Back as 18.1 BETA. BMD has included H.264 & H.265 with Hardware Decoding i.e. GPU execration in Davinci Resolve FREE Version.
The free version features GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) acceleration to speed up the playback of high-resolution videos, but it supports just one GPU. The Studio version supports multiple GPUs, providing better performance to Metal (macOS) and OpenCL and CUDA (Windows and Linux) users.
Don’t count on that because it’s the servers that are going to be hit with billion dollars of fines… so while you may(?) be able to access a prior version, support and updates are going to disappear. Here’s hoping some resolution is found and people get their products back ☮️
I feel like people making these videos about cap cut videos don't truly understand the financial situation of some people who use it I don't have a computer I only use my phone to edit so 98% of all these videos that are talking about alternatives are literally not f o r people who are less fortunate these videos are like them Banning Hondas and Toyotas and people are saying by Lamborghinis as the alternative😂😂😂 like fam most people that use cap Calcutt because it was cheaper to use and you didn't need a computer also to use it and it was user-friendly but I'm going to just stay in my broke Lane😂😂😂😂
I hear you. And with complete respect, a lot of people feel that CapCut has ushered in a wave of “dumbed down” video editing. Much in the way that AI can write a song and suddenly people think they are songwriters, CapCut puts low-value, push button editing ‘meme tricks’ in the hands of people who don’t really want to learn video editing because the software does it all for them. So there are two sides to that story as well. On this channel, I teach video editing for people who want to become serious full-time video editors and there are people who use CaoCut Pro on desktop for that reason. But to be fair… before CapCut came out, I was teaching people mobile editing apps like VideoLeap by Lightricks-> ua-cam.com/video/A4ty4jAjKs4/v-deo.htmlsi=5ZuMS71Ge6iTIj1W

@@Daniel_Batal Thank you!
Another great video. What software are you using for Screen Capture? Thanks?
I use the paid version of Bandicam.
@@Daniel_Batal Well you're using it well and it looks great. Thanks for the quick reply. Cheers!
Thanks, Daniel!
mr daniel i have the free version but do not have isolation voice can u help pls to find out how to view it thank you
I believe voice isolation is a studio only feature.
That being said, from the edit page, if you left click once into the open gray area of the audio track controls (right below the lock, solo, mute options)… it will change the visible audio features in the upper right, under the audio tab of the inspector.
That’s how to access the second tier of AI assisted features
I don’t know whether you realise but you said Da Vinci Resolve when I think you meant to say Filmora when talking about the former editor you used.
I know! Did you see my pinned comment above that I wrote immediately after?
I also misspelled CapCut when I wrote it on screen, confused my lefts and rights and stumbled over words.
I’d like to blame whiskey, but it’s dry January and I haven’t had a drink all month 😅
This is what happens when I get up early in the morning and jump on a live stream.
@ Haha. I watch from my TV so don’t look at the comments but am looking forward to learning Da Vinci, despite still having access to Capcut as a UKer.
Hello great video live stream information Daniel
Thanks! I hope the livestream was helpful.
Thank YOU! your saving me. stay positive very appreciated. GG!

But then again you can target the rest of the world besides US & India so there's that
Edit: nvm i just clicked play on the video
Spoke a little too soon, did you? 😜
I appreciate the effort to help. I think we all feel bad for those who are affected. ❤️
i have two preview windows which is confusing and i don't know how to turn it off do you know how?
In the upper right you’ll see an option to toggle between two preview and single preview.

Ive so far been spending about 3 days on davinci with some good progress and have watched tons of videos/getting an overall feel for it
but one thing that still doesnt feel completely right is the actual experience. I keep hearing about lag issues and how to avoid them
I know you talked about a few in this stream but maybe you could make a seperate video talking about common misconceptions, or ways to increase performce/user experiencr for noobs
but other then that ive learned so much about this software already and have high hopes when I learn even more
capcut was unbanned and I have the pro subscription so I might aswell use that last month up till I finally switch to davinci lol
I’ve made several of those!
You can search my catalog for lots of tips ☮️
Hello Daniel. I have been learning a lot from your tutorials. But the problem is that it's extremely difficult for me to remember all those tricks and tips. So I have to relearn things again when I need them. Any tips for remembering all that stuff?
Same way you learn to speak any language… practice!
I do have something coming out that will make finding some of my quick tip tutorials much easier.
Stay tuned!
That'll be great help!
Sorry if this is unrelated but I’m still a novice. Why do you prefer bandicam for screen capture as opposed to something like OBS?
Simplicity.
It’s screen captures video and captures my mic very clearly and consistently and it’s a very simple interface.
And never be afraid to ask unrelated questions around here ☮️
Capcut has a lot of features I wish were in Resolve.
Such as…?
I'm sure others feel the same way.
. Jeff .
You sir are awesome!
I sure hope this helped some people. Jumping between completely different software can be really tricky sometimes.
capcut looks identical to insta360 studio or very similar.
Does it?
That’s good to know.
A lot of beginner and intermediate video editing software have a very similar layout looking and feel.
Sometimes that’s a good thing because it makes it easier for people to jump between software
TT is back.
Did they bring CapCut back too?
Thank you Soooooooo much for this. I love ALL your tutorials. Thanks a lot again. Can you show us videos like Dave Ardito please ? He is an vfx Anime creator and there are so many videos in UA-cam but they all in after effects or CapCut. And I think if anyone can do, it’s you :-) Can you PLEASE make a tutorial ?
Hmmm… I don’t think I know Dave Ardito. 🤔
I’ll take a peek.
Love cats. Can you tell us the name and show it?
Ha! That’s our newest rescued cat named Willow, a rambunctious little Tortoiseshell. 😁
ITS A GOOD THING I SUBSCRIBED 😂😂
I agree 😁
I was making videos with Capcut and I made them just using still photos and images can I do the same in DaVinci Resolve
There’s almost nothing you can do in CapCut that you can’t do in DaVinci Resolve. It’s just a CapCut makes everything more ‘push-button’ for people who mostly want to make online content.
@@Daniel_Batal Thank you do you have a tutorial on how to do that ?
Tell me exactly what your workflow was and I can point you in the right direction
Gotcha.
Okay so here’s how you’d recorder a voiceover directly into Resolve: ua-cam.com/users/shortsw7ffXCbOwd4?si=ukrpOCDMC4l_TyXD
Importing images is pretty straightforward.
Import media like you would in CapCut.
Put them in your timeline and for simple motion, you can use keyframing: ua-cam.com/video/p1KRLgHw8LY/v-deo.htmlsi=a8dPy6b_sRYhsuHe
For advanced animation techniques you’d want to bring those images into Fusion
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
You’re welcome! 🙏
@@Daniel_Batal SIR, I am stuck on the 1st issue, "media offline". ive imported, relinked, and followed about 5 different videos instructions. I can hear the audio from each clip. the media is .MP4. i am at a loss.
i had to pause my video to see if one of mine were meowing lol
Haha!
We just adopted that second cat not that long ago and she is LOUD! 😜
Even if CapCut comes back imma use resolve and learn it to expand my edits . Instead of staying with one ☝️ that way I can be a jack of all trades 😂
Is it the end of the world?
Cats and dogs living together… mass hysteria!
Oh man this has rotoscope whattttt man this will be instresting 😂
Ha! Who doesn’t love rotoscoping! 😜
The magic mask feature in the studio version definitely solves that headache.
Check this out-> ua-cam.com/users/shortsLLodyQbxWsQ?si=cOsxF0cQMfw94D8E
My only gripe... On Capcut, I can pretty much drag and drop any type of media format and immediately start editing. DaVinci, on the other hand, I have to convert most of my files to an "accepted" format which costs me up to hours extra time before even starting to edit...
That’s because you’re using the free version which has file type support limitations.
I use the Studio version and don’t have that issue.
Not even american but capcut is just pay to use so i’ll try to learn ds
Give it a shot. It’s got a steep learning curve, but you’ve got nothing to lose learning a powerful Pro editing software like this.
CAPCUT still works with a VPN 😂 just not TIKTOK
NORD VPN… 😮
